| » Airsoft Ohio Suggested Rules |
These default rules are for general non-theme oriented Airsoft Ohio games. These rules are only suggested and maybe overridden by the event organizers at any time.
General Play Rules
- Everybody who plays shall know the rules and obey them. If there are any unclear matters, ask the organizers. In some games, some special rules may affect the basic rules. In such cases these special rules are told before the game. The special rules override basic rules, if they contradict each other. The game organizers also divide the teams for the game.
- Check your weapons and gear for proper functionality before starting play. A player is personally responsible for his/her equipment, whether owned, borrowed, or rented. If you break or ruin something, you will be held responsible for any damages. Accidents do happen. Be careful and play responsibly.
- All weapons belong to one of the following three classes:
- Support Weapons: Any weapon that can fire full auto and/or has multiple HiCaps (High Capacity Magazines) or Box magazines. Maximum of 2000 BBs. The weapon is full length with bipods or look like a real support weapon.
- Sniper Rifles: Any weapon that is either a semi or bolt action rifle. Full auto capability and HiCap’s aren't allowed.
- Standard Weapons: A weapon that is classified as any weapon other than those above. Maximum energy is 1.5J and the bullets weight can't be heavier than 0.25g and no more than 600BB's.
- A player who has been eliminated will confirm this by shouting out "HIT" or "I’M OUT" and WILL hold up their hands above their head, and WILL walk immediately out of the game area or return to their starting point, which ever is designated by game organizers, without disturbing the ongoing game. If the elimination has happened during a large firefight, or similar, all hit players will follow elimination procedures and leave the area immediately without disturbing the game. Players will keep their hands above their shoulders at all times while on their way out of the play area, unless the hands are needed for support.
- Eliminated players are not allowed to give away any information except confirming that they have been eliminated. Observers, judges and others aren't allowed to pass on information concerning an ongoing game.
- No specific electronic equipment is disallowed, but can be limited by the game organizers.
- Radio eavesdropping is not allowed.
Safety Rules
- Everybody who plays shall know the rules and obey them. If there are any unclear matters, ask the organizers. In some games, there may be additional rules. In such cases these additional rules are told before the game.
- All weapons should have a Barrel Blocker or the magazine removed as an extra precaution when the weapon isn't in use.
- All players, observers (if applicable) and judges (if applicable) will be using appropriate safety goggles in the game and in the vicinity of a game. All goggles must be approved by the game organizers. DO NOT remove goggles during an ongoing game. All goggles will fit snugly against the wearer’s face and should not move during play. It is forbidden to shoot at someone without goggles. A full mask is not required. All eye protection will use be approved using the following criteria:
- All eye protection must be ANSI 87.1 1989 Rated OR tested by an ARRCO member. This test will require the eye protection be shot at point blank range with a rifle shooting at Airsoft Ohio's maximum FPS limit(Currently 500FPS w/.2 bbs). Airsoft Ohio nor ARRCO will be responsible for any damage that this test may cause to the eye protection.
- All eye protection must not have any gaps between the lens/frame and the face large enought to allow a 6MM BB to pass. If the eye protection is not FULL SEALING (meaning NO gaps between the face and lens/frame) then application of this rule is up to the presiding ARRCO member's discretion. If no ARRCO members are present, then it is up to the Event Organizers discretion.
FULL SEALING ANSI RATED eye protection is STRONGLY recommended, and is the only form of eye protection that can be guaranteed to be allowed. If you show up with any other form of eye protection, you take the risk of not being able play.
Click here for an example of NON ANSI Rated Eye Protection.
- The following engagement rules must be obeyed at all times (FPS measured with 0.2 gram BBs):
- 0-350fps (1.14 joules): Full Auto, no minimum engagement distance.
- 350-399fps (1.48 joules): Full Auto, 25' minimum engagement distance.
- 400-449fps (1.87 joules): Semi Auto only, 50' minimum engagement distance.
- 450-500fps (2.32 joules): Semi Auto only, 75' minimum engagemnet distance.
This means that if you are using a replica that chronos between 350-399 FPS. Then you may NOT, under any circumstance, fire upon someone within 25'. You may attempt to "Surrender" them, but if they refuse to surrender, you still may NOT fire upon them.
In the spirit of good sportsmanship, it is encouraged that if you are surrended by someone with an upgraded replica within the minimum engagement limit, that you honor that surrender.
Replica's that are upgraded with the intention of beeing in the 350-399 FPS range will be allowed a 5% tolerance on a case by case basis.
Replica's that are upgraded with the intention of beeing in the 450-500FPS range will be allowed a 2% tolerance on a case by case basis.
- Night Game/CQB Requirements:
- Weapons maximum energy can not exceed 1.14J (350FPS with 0.2 grams BB)
- During night games, an operable flashlight must be carried with you at all times.
- It is strongly recommend to carry a Flashlight with minimum 60 lumens output.
- Use of Night Vision system allowed but use at your own risk (possible phototube damages).
- To aim for the head is not allowed, unless the target only shows those parts.
- To constrain another player, via gear, cloth or other is not allowed, unless that person agrees to it. The only exception is a light tap anywhere on the body. This is considered to be a "knife kill". A "Knife Kill" means that the player has been eliminated with a knife.
- Fireworks , pyrotechnics and similar devices are only allowed to produce safe effects, as smoke, light and sound, and they will have to pass inspection by an ARRCO member before the game.
- All players will observe "No fire" zones at all times. Active players are not allowed to be in "No Fire" zones or shoot in/over them. Watch the game area’s borders.
All pointblank shots should be avoided. If it is necessary, try and aim at legs and lower body. Shooting at eliminated players, non-players and judges is forbidden.
