Luckey for you i just watched that movie.....for my 200th time . Anyways. The Delta sniper (Shughart) is wearing black PT body armer. Similar to this:

And your basic LBV setup:

Very 90's style. Nothing fancy but still looks good and gets the job done. You can get all these items at any army surplus store or airsoft shop for pretty cheap.

I actaully have three of the same things that he used for sale. A buttpack, Triple mag pouch, and canteen with cover. PM me

Cool

It would also be known as RANGER BODY ARMOR. It was the precursor to the current issue IBA. Just the IBA is easier to get on and off. The SAPI plates are a little different to back then, Instead being shaped like a house with no roof, like the current SAPI, the old SAPI just had one angle at the top on the Right Side as wearing it. This was suppose to help seating the rifle in the shoulder. But not every one is Right handed so now they cut both sides so it would be universal to Lefties and righties.

Ranger Body armor and PT armor are two different systems, so don't get them confused.

The Rangers in the movie wore the Ranger BA, while the Delta Force guys wore PT armor vests. The PT armor only carries the soft and hard armor, so all the other gear was in rigs worn over the BA. For all the Rangers, it was old LC2 ALICE web belt and Y-harrness gear. The Delta guys wore a mix, some used simple chest rigs, some BHI Omega vests, and some the same LC2 gear as the Rangers.

D is correct. To even specify some more, I have seen (and I think it is Hoot's character) wearing a BHI Tactical Chest Pouches in .223 overtop of his PT armor. I swear somewhere in that movie I also saw someone wearing TPE-1 armor (maybe they ran out of PT armor to use from the Prop house, film companies do have to do that sometimes.)
If you look at some of the higher res. set pictures from "behind the scenes" and pics taken from the crew, it is alot easier to identify gear.
