Arma 3 release next week.

Me and many other PC gamers are quite excited about this, ARMA 3 is finally going to be released soon, after many setbacks including the imprisonment of the developers while in Greece. Me and a few friends have a team that used to run ACE missions in Arma 2 and will be starting up again for this, so if you want to join message me.

The Alpha is finally releasing march 5th.

The beta will be out sometime over the summer.


The full game *might* release sometime later this year.

We'll see. I'll most likely be getting A/B/F starting next week, but I don't plan on ditching 2 anytime soon. It'l most likely be a year or two before it's worth playing anyways, just like the last three games in the series.

I am definitely getting alpha, but will probably stick with 2 for a while till arma 3 gets acre and ace mods.

I think I read somewhere on the BI forums that the ACE mod (at least) might not be created for A3. A lot of the guys who worked on it are unhappy with the whole steam decision the company has made and aren't planning on picking the new game up. I didn't necessarily take many of the threats too seriously until I saw the CWR2 team stating that they will not bring their work to A3 either in a statement made by W0lle.

ArmA 3 finally being released is sort of bittersweet in my opinion. I don't like the direction the game has gone all that much, but I understand why they did a lot of it and I defiantly am looking forward to new features like physix and customization of gear and stuff.

My hope is that the difficulty of modding doesn't increase any (and maybe if we're lucky, it'll get easier) and that the modding community as a whole will continue to thrive both in terms longevity and created content for at least as long as the original OFP did.

With all that said, I'll be picking up the Alpha on Tuesday, probably the supporters package edition as well. Fingers crossed for good things to come.

I agree as well, I think that the Alpha might be fun to toy around with for awhile but unless it is relatively bug free (which I doubt) and offers a lot of play ability even with such limited content, I think I will be sticking to A2 too. At least for a little. I need to find an online group to roll with, SP has been getting a little boring lately.

I bought it around 8:30 this morning and I have to say I'm actually pretty impressed by the release. I've been enjoying things so far.

It's written in Java instead of ARMA's code so it will be easier to mod. I just want the modern stuff, not this futuristic crap.

I kind of agree, I wish they would've scaled back from 2035 and maybe portrayed it in 2020 or 2025 at the most and gone for more pre-existing stuff instead of experimental.

So far nothing has been super futuristic though, I think it will be tolerable for now. Since modding is allowed already and seems simpler than before, I'm thinking that mods will fix things pretty soon.

Otherwise everything gameplay wise has really blown my mind, it is a huge leap forward from ArmA 2.

Yeah I much prefer the era seen in the original OFP or ArmA2 but I'll take this. For being futuristic, they sure did a good job making it believable and still down to earth. Besides, modding will make quick work of that.
