Operation Outbreak 11/3
BRAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Awesome Operation. A big thanks to Ronin and company. So here was the rundown. STARS walks a half mile to the AO. Fight a couple straggleing zombies. Kill Nemesis. Rescue people. Everyone then proceeded to turn into zombies. Get shot alot. Get chased by Nemesis somemore. Regroup and ally with Umbrella. Killinate zombies. Get into giant woodland fighting zombie orgy. Umbrella bastards turn on us. we kick their *** anyway. Eneryone is a zombie again. Escape through gate to finish game. and it was crazy. I didnt even know what was happening in the indoor games. Phil did get shot in the nuts four times (my brother shot you three times in there) and someone screwed their ankle. But it was sweet. Did anyone find a cobra radio or a star 85 round M16 mag?

Fun game. I really thought there were TOO many people for indoor games, though the zombie rush was hilarious. Those poor, poor people...with brains.....That got eaten.....
I swear, I was a zombie more than I was human. I had fun being an SL, thanks for letting me lead a couple of you. Too many times did I get the **** scared out of me by a lunging zombie out of the high grass. I even got tackled by a zombie, which was accidental. Lucky I had the MICH helmet on or I'd have one heck of a headache right now! Thanks Ronin, I had fun. Interesting game. Hope everyone got home safe. Delta, hope that sucker heals up quickly. Good to play with you all again! ...Sgt. Pecker...wow. |

When I got home I realized that I had blood stains on the inside of my undershirt and dried puddles caked on my chest. Right now it looks like I've got smallpox ~ there's so many red bumps all over me. I'm going to estimate that I took close to 200 hits today, but that's ok because I got to do something very much out of the ordinary. Good job Ghost and crew. Jerry it sucks that your M4 got raped. Rick: STTTTTAAARRRRRRRSSSSSSSSS Delta - sorry about your ankle but at least you didn't get Eiffel Towered by zombies.
Oh and LOL at the cops showing up.

Props to Ronin for stepping up to the plate and hosting a difficult and experimental game. We all appreciate it. The most memorable part for me was the final exfiltration. My team was pulling up the rear, and it was a little unnerving to see all those zombies lurching through the inky darkness. Delta didn't make it, and Xray came within inches of becoming a midnight snack.

I'd like to echo India's comments. Ronin did a great job, despite having to make countless changes to adjust. Pulling off a zombie event isn't easy.
The action was pretty much non-stop. If you weren't in a firefight with the opposing team a zombie was closing in on you. I had many times where I'd be concentrating on the task at hand and I got jumped by a zombie from behind. One second you're taking it to the enemy, the next you're craving brains!!! The last scenario was just amazing. It was my favorite part of the event. We had to make it through a zombie-infested field and get to the extraction point. It was dark out and the only thing we had was our tactical lights and flashlights. BlackEagle took up the rear, but got plenty of action from the front and the sides as well. We pushed through the center of the zombie horde and then had to deal with them chasing us the whole way. What an adrenaline rush! X-ray almost bit the dust when a zombie appeared out of nowhere on the ground and grabbed his ankle. I thought for sure he was a goner, but it took two hands to turn someone, so he got very lucky. Making it to the extraction point was very rewarding. We had zombies on our rears til the very end. The feeling you get from being chased by zombies in the dark is pretty creepy, but you have to keep your composure and do your job. When there's an Outbreak 2 you definitely need to bring back this scenario. Also, I'd suggest more night-time play. It just adds a whole new element. The CQB was fun, but turned into a cluster when most everyone became zombies. It was realistic from that standpoint because most people don't survive a zombie movie. If there was more space to work with it would've been way better for that scenario. I was impressed with my AMP Tactical combo (light/laser), it performed as expected and helped me kill countless zombies. It reached out farther than other lights. If you're on the fence about buying one I recommend it. As for shooting someone in the nuts, I accidently shot a zombie in the nuts in front of the buildings during the CQB scenario. I'm assuming it's the same person. His moans turned to groans, which was comical. Sorry about that man. One other thing I'd like to address. People, don't be aiming for the head when you can hit the torso. I got shot in the face by my own guys trying to turn me from a zombie. It was unnecessary. This isn't a first-person shooter. lol Only aim for the head if that's all they're giving you to shoot at. Constructive criticism:

Had a great time! Kudos to the event organizers. If you have it I will be at your next one for SURE. I love horror movies and of all the events Ive attended (and this is going to sound crazy) this was second on only to the Irene series. You cannot find a better venue for an event like this. Only complaints I had were administrative stuff but with the nature of the experiment this was understandable. All the players were also awesome with their understanding that it is just as important to play hard when dead as it was when alive.
My most memorable moments: knife killing about 7 zombies when both my guns went down by pretending to be one of the undead (but not wearing the rag that was required by the dead). I swear I got the idea from a zombie movie and it worked well until I was discovered and had to run for my life. The young lady that played Jill Valentine. She puts the "hot camera chick" at Irene to shame and sported a GREAT Resident Evil Stars uniform. The folks that were dedicated zombies and roleplayers. Pretty creepy costumes that in the pitch black under small spotlight really put you in the middle of a movie. The last run to the extraction point. Sheer genius whoever thought of that. When I first heard what we had to do I thought it wouldnt be all that great. I couldnt have been more wrong. The images of running through that valley with zombies popping out of the ground killing the guy next to you before getting lit up, you pan your light back and see dozens of dead pursuing you screaming for your brains all while worrying about running out of ammo. |

Yeah, the delays were kinda sucky, but once it got moving, the senarios lasted a long time. Also, I dont think there were too many people inside. It was just enough to cause pandamonium, which was what we needed for the zombies to do their thing. And major props to the role playing zombies. You guys took the pain well, and still played your part.
I saw someone taking pics; Please post them!

That I did, and it made me seriously consider buying an IBA with crotch protector.
My only complaint about the event was the fact that the inside became a huge overly-close-shot-fest I had about 4 or 5 people shoot me while I was holding on to them "feasting" so that could've been better, but i attribute that to the understood chaotic nature of the event and large number of people in the relatively small indoor field. The Outdoor parts were very entertaining to say the least, and I applaud all of the Roleplayer zombies for taking the shots and doling out the laughs. Thanks to ronin for giving us enough objectives to satisfy the whole 3 hours alloted to the outdoor games, and averting the danger known as the the indoor games.

Good game got a little crazy at a few points. Hat's off to all the full time zombies that would be a hard thing to get shot all day and not shoot back. I was very surprised how well it woked. Good job stars you put a good fight. Umbrella you kicked a** all day long good job! Thank you advisors you we're very helpful. Potecting the rear of the exfil was fun, but knife killing stars and running off with jill saying "I don't like what you guys are doing" was the best. I'll be looking for the 2nd event, also point totals?

Thanks to the organizers. I never thought airsoft was supposed to be so funny. Watching the zombies lie there in the field during the first game, stand up, and then get shot down seconds later with grunts of frustration had me laughing the whole time.
I got a little freaked out when I was in a room full of about 15 zombies and nobody seemed to notice I was STARS. I tried to sneak out only to have all of them rush me at once and pin me in the corner. Kinda like the movies when they do an overhead shot of a civilian being overrun by zombies on all side and they just kinda disappear in the middle. Still not sure who won. |

So what was the deal with the cops? I wished I could have made it to this event too.

I was wondering what was up with the cops too, they didn't get out of the car, so i doubt it was anything major. My guess is that we were violating sound curfew.

Kudos to the full time zombies! This event was full of humorous moments that you can never get from anyplace else. Holding the room that was adjacent to the main room (with the sliding door) was one of the coolest things ever. Seeing a couple of zombies charge through the front door only to be mowed down by the entire umbrella squad (despite the yells from xray) was hilarious. It was a liberating experience shooting my own zombified team mates. Good job team ronin for organizing a great, experimental event.

so far i agree with everything posted thus far! i hope you guys had a lot of fun at the event! we figured it was cool to try a different aspect of airsoft, you know milsim with zombies thrown in! thanks for putting up with us, the next zombie event will be better considering we've learned a lot from running this event, being our first one and all!
stars: good job out there, you guys put up a hell of a fight against both zombies, umbrella, and nemesis umbrella: you guys did good, gave us stars some good fights. oh and dont worry about going sour on the "truce" we were going to do the same thing and turn you guys into zombies, you just beat us to it. but we got jill back! zombies: roleplayers, awesome job! and when players got turned into zombies i think for the most part everyone actually tried hard to be good zombies. red thanks for stalking me and jill when you were a zombie! nice! we hope you guys had a good time! ps - constructive criticism is always welcome, that way we can make the sequel better for you guys! |

Ok happy to hear all the good things. I agree with all the bad things too, the things that were controllable by my staff, I am sorry about, things got out of hand, and we all only met 5 times to set this game up in 3 weeks. All the things like: Close range shots, and being shot while feasting, were out of our control due to some people showing up late or maybe people just not understanding the rules. Bad aside i thought the first game was amazing, i had a great time running with Xray and all the UBCS, felt bad having to break the truce with the STARS and my g/f ("Jill"), oh and thanx Xray she is still mad at me for being held captive. The second game was a major CF, which i am disappointed about because we spent so much time setting up all the bunkers in the building and only 2 hours setting up the outside, and the outside was better!!! The main problem was it was too many people in too small of a place, all i remember was walking into the building seeing 6 guys backed into 1 room, and about 40 screaming zombies running them down in their last effort of survival. The final run was my idea, but unfortunately no one wanted to be a zombie, so we have like 45 alive vs 12 zombies, which should have been the other way around. I was the 1st zombie to get destroyed in the main field, i had so many bloody welts it was not even funny. Thanks to everyone that came out, thanks to all my teammates for helping me, and thanks to Pudd and Widowmaker for having us run it at their field. Sorry Delta that you got hurt hope you are feeling better. I promise we will have a bigger and better Outbreak 2 next year. I am hoping we have 2 or 3 stories in the main compound too, cuz that would have helped. Hope everyone had a great time, final score will be out later. I have UBCS's almost figured out, for the 1st game, but i still have to get STARs.

I am glad your guy's event went well. Hopefully people don't forget that the event was in basis of our similair, earlier idea, and sadly didn't get to work out in time. Kudos for you guys getting it off the ground in time to scrap something salvageable.

If it helps ghost, tell "Jill" that's what bad guys are suppose to do. I had fun regaurdless, work out the bugs and we'll be back! You did a very good job as my advisor. Costumes we're great and Nemesis was a great twist. You had the classic Resident Evil items to collect and the charaters we're a good addition. I'll thank the guys at conquest personally!

Thanks everyone for coming out and controlling the local zombie population. Bob Barker would be proud
I had a lot of fun being a zombie at this event (was the zombie with a beret and a mask on) milling about the field in search of BRAAAAAAIIINNSSSS. Was a blast to give some frights to people. Good job to both Umbrella and Stars forces in being supportive of your team members. I lost count of the times I would be a few feet away from a player who was downed by gunfire and about to join the zombie brethren when some well placed shots would drop me right before I could feast ![]() To the Umbrella forces who were inside the building: You guys made it fun to be a zombie. With the 15 or so of you bunkered down in that room, it made it near impossible for us zombies to eat you. So we could only pound on the door and the walls and just make a general ruckus of things. Playing around with the CPR dummy dressed in fatigues was a good laugh as well. I hope you boys enjoyed it as much as we did. We learned a lot about running the event and gained some insight on things to add and look out for. Was totally worth doing and I'm glad you guys had a great time. Sims: Smallpox is right! I'm covered from my head to shins in little red welts. Its as if I fell asleep in the middle of a mosquito swarm.
