You paint a gun because black stands out and tan/od blends in. Most of us aren't meticulous enough to do the digi camo job and also the benefits from digi camo isn't enough to out weigh the amount of time it takes to paint it. With a FDE base and mixing in OD you can create a great camo design that is fast, cheap and extremely effective when compared to black. He probably didn't want to paint his EO tech since its harder to sell hand painted items.

In the case of painting the entire outside of the gun I am lost. Maybe he didn't have the time or money to tape off certain parts or remove things like his trigger/sight/flashhider/selector...

After all it is his gun, so if he doesn't like it he can change it; a little thinner goes a long way.
Because when you do an in-field paint job like many combatants do, you simply spray the whole damn thing. Leaving things unpainted simply means they will stick out that much more in contrast. Its not to look "cool", its to be functional. Besides, what reason is there to NOT paint the flashhider or sights?

Reed, you are now one of my tan gun buddies!

Here's an explanation of why I chose to paint it the way it is painted:

1. EOTech is not painted because it's a $400 optic, and I don't want tan paint on it. D-boy is right, it's hard to sell it when it doesn't look new.

2. The gun is a flat khaki because I like how that looks. I threw a flat coat of Khaki on there. 100% covered the gun. It's got a lot of black showing now because it wears off, and that's how I wanted the finished product. A worn, "been there done that" looking gun - It looks pretty close to what a lot of real world operators do to their guns. The reason behind their paint jobs...It's the convenient, efficient, and effective way of painting a gun. Make sense?

The orange on the flash hider is something I'll live with. The screw stripped out, I can't remove the flash hider. So, it's just going to show a little bit.

I have 9 tan mags. I have a tan CASV front set in transit but with the black Daniel Defense it looks odd. Not bad by any standard, just kinda "front heavy". Just imagine a tan Vltor CASV with black rails and that is what my baby is going to look like.

Reaperx if that vltor ptw was tan and had a matching Vltor stock, I would sell my soul for it. You have an amazing rifle.

AR-15s maybe. A real, select-fire, transferable, M4 costs more than most new cars. Is that a real NOD on the helmet?

I am a HUGE fan of the M1 Garand but I will never spend the 400 dollars to get the airsoft not 200 for a replica. This is close enough for me!

Never used it in a match, never been in a match, but I do hope to get into one here in the next few days

Nice gun Reaper1, but how front heavy is that thing? It seems like the weight would be very uneven and annoying to aim.

Reaperx, I wasn't speaking to you as to your gun being heavy, I was referring to reaper1 with the scar and eglm. I apologize for that.

its time for me to find a new callsign lol. too many reapers on here.

Its really not that bad to carry. There is definitely added weight, but nothing one can't get used to.
