(Modern) Medal Of Honor

Looks like EA is trying to target the Modern Warfare crowd.

Quote:
"When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier but bring it into today's war. The Tier 1 Operator is the most disciplined, deliberate and prepared warrior on the battlefield. He is a living, breathing, precision instrument of war." said Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer, Medal of Honor. "We are honored to have the rare opportunity to work closely with these men to create a game that shares their experience."

Another Interesting article.

Just hours before EA officially announced the long-rumored return of its Medal of Honor franchise, the company's chief executive told Kotaku his battle plan for EA's war-game competition against Call of Duty. He wants Modern Warfare's spot.

Thats interesting for sure, but I have always prefered the Call of Duty series over Medal of Honor. They always seemed to be more engaging and have better gameplay.

Ill be sure to keep an eye on this though, I'd like to see what they come up with.

I saw that and what's sad is DICE (makers of Battlefield) are making it. Which really ****ing pisses me off because they need to be working on Battlefield 3.

I will just say this, i grew up with the PSX MOH and MOH:Underground. Then, MOH Allied Assault (+ expansion packs). I played MOH:AA so much, i scratched the disc.

No to mention all the awesome mods found online for the PC versions

Since DICE is working on it, it might be nothing like the originals. I'm hoping they use the BFBC2 engine.

I hope they use the Frostbite Engine as well.

EA won't let the Battlefield franchise step in this direction like DICE originally wanted. So, I guess DICE is getting what they want. Just with a new franchise that is guaranteed to sell because of its name.

If the game play is anything like the previous MOH, i personally don't think it will be a hit. Like Operator, i too played the original MOH games. I remember coming home from school and my dad had just bought the fist one on PsX at EB Games. He was mad because it was $44 lol. But none the less, i really liked it, i just hope they amp the game play up a lot from there previous games. I even downloaded the original MOH on my Ps3 from the playstation network.

EA Los Angeles and DICE are working together on it.

i dont really dig the Frostbite engine, BF2/BF2:SF were def the best games they made.

All I can say is I hope it turns out good. Can't complain if one more good fps is released. Am I going to be anxiously awaiting its release? No. But if its good I might buy it. I played a few of the old ones and I did like most of what I saw. That's my opinion.

The first MoH is what got me into fps games in the first place. For it's time, that was one of the better WWII shooters out there. Unfortunately, as fun as all the MoH were, they didn't seem to evolve much from one game to the next in terms of gameplay. They were all pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong, they were fun, but they really over-used the WWII thing. So this could be good, considering the time frame change, and the fact that DICE is working on it this time. But it could be bad if they try to copy CoD:MW2 too much. I'm hoping they stick to their own ideas rather than trying to imitate more popular fps games. Will it take CoD:MW2's spot? Not by a longshot. But it could still be pretty damn good.

What do you mean by it being repetitive, you mean play as a grunt for a bit then go into the OSS and end up working with the British every time?

I know that's how games were back then but the MoH games were so scripted that you have to wait a year before playing it again to even be remotely surprised by an enemy. Fun stuff though.

EA LA (Single Player)
DICE (Multiplayer)

Since DICE is handling multiplayer I have a feeling it'll be more Battlefield style then COD.

One thing you have to remember about the old MoH franchise, it was made by Vince Campella, Jason west, and Grant Collier- the three guys that later went on to start Infinity Ward and the Call Of Duty franchise.

Maybe it is a poetic thing that the franchise is following in the footsteps of the guys that started it? Maybe EA is seeing what they lost when those guys were snapped up by Activision and started a new intellectual property?

And just to play the devil's advocate here: Infinity Ward has only made two games that weren't World War 2 games... That is only half of the games they have ever made, and before that they had made every Medal of Honor game until 2003 when they released the first Call of Duty. That is like 6 World War 2 games...

I hope it goes well though, I am in the mood to play something that isn't rooted in too much fantasy like MW2, LOL.

This MOH will be alot different than previous... and the multiplayer will be different than IW and cod style because Dice Sweden Team 3 is doing the multiplayer.. so expect it to be big have vehicles and be like a real battlefield.

EA really wants to take activision's spot and with IW release MW2 and now all the glitches and bugs it has in that game. they may have made their money already but they are losing community respect real fast.

EA is a homewrecker. They've killed many quality studios and industry geniuses. If they can't make it themselves, they buy it up or close it down. EA is one of the most poisonous companies in the industry. Riccitiello is in it for the money not the consumer.

I'm stopping there lol. I can rant on about the last 15 years of gaming for days.

That vid looks amazing as does the new frostbite engine. The body IED at the end is sweet, looks like they did homework on modern terrorist tactics. I cant wait for BFBC2 and this (And BF3 whenever that might come along).

Finally got to see the trailer, definatly going to pick it up if it keeps this quality through the production. Been waiting for an Afghan game of this quality for quite awhile.

I will agree that EA is the devil...

But you have to admit the component parts of the company ( the developers they have "acquired" ) are the real strength. Without companies like DICE, Bioware, and recent ones like Pandemic, they would literally be nothing but a Madden title every year.

One could also say the same thing though about Activision. They literally won't let Infinity Ward make anything but Call of Duty, the same as Treyarch. And let's not forget that they own Blizzard and the cash cow that is World of Warcraft and won't let them make the new World of Warcraft that they wanted to have out by the end of last year because they make too much money on the one they have now.

Every game publisher is inherently evil. That is why I look past the publisher ( EA or Activision ) and look at the companies that actually make the games, the developers.

Anywho.....

I really want to move away from Modern Fantasy Warfare 2. That game has been giving me headaches since it has been released. There is even hacked unlimited "Noob Tubes" servers on Xbox Live now.... ARGH. This looks solid right now, between this and Bad Company 2, DICE might be on the way to a great year this year.
