Best Gear/Cylinder Grease?

I'm fixing up my A&K M249 SAW at the moment. I have a new gear set and a new ARL on the way in the mail, but now I have to find some good gear and cylinder grease for it. I don't really want to spend 30$ on it if I don't have to. Does anybody know which brands are the best and where I can get them?

I'm inclined to say run a search on grease...there's tons of posts about grease.

Since it's too late and you posted a thread already, I'll chime in. I always use super lube, the kind you get out of a 3oz tube. it's great for the cylinder AND the gears.

I ran a search and I actually didn't find much..I'll look again in a bit.

My dad owns some real guns and I took a look at some of his oils and lubes.. is there anything that specifically wont work for an airsoft gun? I know there is some ingredient in WD-40 that is bad for certain guns.

One of them says it contains petroleum distillates- that rings a bell for something but I don't remember. Two of the three I have also say "Non-Gumming"

I have "Outers 445 Gun Oil, For Firearms, Polarized", "CMD Gun Lube, Prevents Wear, Anti-Galling, Contains no lead, graphite or corrosive additives", and "Krieghoff Gun Pro, The Perfect Gun Oil"

I'm trying to find alternatives to buying grease from airsoft sites online to save shipping time/money. Are there different kinds of super lube/which do you get? I would assume I can get some at a local place.

Just be sure to stay away from any grease that has any petroleum additives. Also I generally recommend against using lithium greases as well, though others claim to use them without issues. I personally recommend any grease that is either 100% Silicone or is marketed directly for airsoft gears. Do some research and you'll easily be able to find products that will fit your needs.

I may just end up getting the Mad Bull Airsoft Gear and Cylinder Grease Set, I don't want to mess with different oils that aren't for airsoft.

To answer your previous question, superlube can be bought at any harbor freight and is $5 for a 3 ounce tube. Best bang for your buck. Also, if you want, you can buy paintball silicon from any wally world or the likes and use that instead of the silicon spray. I bought mine on sale for $1 per bottle.

Find a local R/C hobby shop (if there aren't any airsoft shops around you) and ask for silicone grease. A bottle of 100 weight shock oil is also helpful with the cylinder.

Don't use WD-40 to lubricate anything. WD stands for Water Displacing. It makes a terrible lubricant. It works for a VERY short time but collects a lot of dust and evaporates
