For $1200 I'd be looking into Ashbury or accuracy intl. lol. I've been a big fan of the B&C stocks on the market for 700s as of late. Very well built and 5-700 for the nicer models

I bought the stock because of the amount of great reviews it had and I must say that I love it. Palm swell is awesome, the added weight and pads really knock down recoil. The biggest upgrade is that it lugs in the receiver to the stock instead of locking the stock between the receiver and trigger. I haven't settled on an optic yet but with iron sights I can put a rough 2.5 in grouping at about 200 yards. I cant attest to the 700 but the M1a is a major improvement. I also bought mine used of a marine the used it on deployment so the price was right.

Recoil with the stock and the pws break is about a standard 5.56, almost negligible. The problem with the break is it spreads the sound out the sides, the next lane over is going to be pissed. When I was still using the GI stock it was still awesome, the biggest improvement for a standard stock (aside from bedding the receiver) is a solid optic mount. I used a springfield mount at first and they are terrible! look for a mount (like the S.W.A.N. I have) that has 3 contact points. If you can find the #18 it will almost eliminate the possibility of stovepipes (I have had none). After that just match your ammo to the barrel and your good to go, stock barrel twist is 11/1, I plan on getting a kreiger 10/1 when I return to the states.

The AI's are nice, but the cheek height adjustment is limited and crude, and I don't find them very comfortable. The ashbury is even more expensive than JAE. The Ashbury's would also require me to get new rings, because of the design. The ashbury's need extra high rings and I currently have lows (A.R.M.S. #22 - at $125 a set) Plus this puts the scope axis farther above the bore axis. I really think JAE is the best thing going, I guess I need to win the lottery.
I agree the B&C's are great for the money, but not really any better than the HS stocks they're currently in.

this is my most recent throw together.. we dont call it "building" if you just assemble it from parts..... (building an AR means we made the upper, lower or both.)

its a hammer forged 18" heavy barrel 1-9twist 7.62x39 AR. KeyHole upper, on a NF lower with SS Cproducts mag and just the usual 6pos stock and carry handle.

nothing fancy just works, shoots and fun to play with. gotta admit that this is a my current favorite 7.62AR.

This one is purely awesome!
It's my favorite kind of weapons, as for me I just cannot use a pistol in a right way, I always miss. And shooting from such a tool - never.

Talking

just sent this whole set up to a new home the other day...

its a 1919A4 i built with a OhioBlackSheep crank fire, on a custom BeltFedShooters M12 feed/catch/eject set up... attached to a BadgerBob Econpod.

these are easy to build & tons of fun to shoot, but like anything else you do a lot the newness eventually wears off.

my kids have been shooting this gun since they were in diapers and its in tons of video's on the net with them.... but they have grown bored with it and we never shoot it now days.

so it went to a disabled Veteran who is going to ride around with it on his Polaris Ranger and get some enjoyment out of it. :-)

click on them for the huge pix at imagebam...

love nagants. they make fantastic hunting rifles!

if you get a couple then you can take one and shorten it down to a 18" barrel... sportster style stock.. really brings these to life!

Nice grab HK.

My roommate has one. Great for an affordable semi-auto 12.

Like what? I'd recommend getting an extended charging handle. Installation is stupid easy. I did my roommates in about 45 seconds.

Just acquired a cute little Ruger SR22 for a CCW and plinking gun. Can't beat CCI Mini-Mags.

I don't really like to post pics of my guns, but here's a pic of what they are capable of. This is a 5 round group shot at 200 yds, it measures 0.478" C to C.
