Whats the point...?

Hey guys! So I've been looking at getting either a cyma or dboys AK, however I just don't understand why they are so powerful. could anyone chime in with the reason behind why they are pretty much all 400 and above? I need one just a bit less powerful then that and it seems impossible.
Thanks in advanced!

I clicked this and a part of me thought this would be a weird philosophical question, like what the point of the universe? What's the point of adaptation? Etc, etc

OP, basically a marketing thing. If you talk to newer players or even... Well, uneducated players they will refer to FPS as the measure of how über-cool your weapon is. Most everyone on here should know that that has a fraction of what to do with it and that it higher isn't always better.

I have a ton of kids ask me "how much FPS does your gun have?" I respond "350", and they say "oh tht sucks, mine is 550"
See also, "TM sucks becuz they are plastic an are lo FPS!!!"

Spring downgrade is what you want to do. Less strain on your gears/gearbox.

It's hard to measure the performance of an airsoft gun in such a way that can be easily communicated on a box. High FPS is not the same thing as "range" or "accuracy" and it definitely doesn't translate into "reliability." FPS is real number though, and new players tend to things that bigger number = higher quality.

I have a Cyma AK. I had to downgrade the spring in it. Now it shoots a nice 380ish.
Its really not that hard to do. Unless of course you have never taken one apart before. If this is the case I suggest a digital camera is your friend. Take lots of pictures.

it probably shows a high fps because they use .12g bb instead of .20 for that chrono on the box.. Use a .20 and cyma / dboys will shoot no more then 400fps.
