I should post my rig.

Hot ****, Darkside. Really like what you got going on with the RG stuff.

Since Kong is throwing all his CB around, I'll do it too, to be a cool kid.

Kit List:

Front:
EI RRV (CB)
EI MLCS 9mm Admin (CB)
EI 5.56 Pouch (5x - CB)
TT 1V GP (2x - CB)
Pantac Mock Ballistic Plates (Set)

Back:
EI RRV Back panel (CB)
TT Hydration Carrier (CB)
Eagle Medic Pouch (CB)
TT Radio Pouch (CB)

First Line:
ATS MOLLE War Belt/Padded MOLLE Belt (CB)
ATS War Belt Insert (BLK)
ATS War Belt Suspenders (CB)
TT 1V Horizontal GP (CB)
TT Dump Pouch (CB)
BHI Sig 226R Serpa + leg platform (Black)
EI 9mm FB Singles (3x - CB - Not pictured)

It definitely does the job even if it's pricey & heavy. It's the perfect rig for me. Just need a Safariland for my Sig so I can holster it with the TLR-1 on it.

That's what a day of mountain biking and late..er nights will do for ya. Haha. As soon as I looked at it and was like wait, that's and EI RRV. Then the "The holster is EBB," kind of gave it away. Sometimes I wonder what I'm thinking...

How many MOLLE panels does that TT MOD Hydro take up?
And is it just me or I the only one that loves their SERPA?

Now please remember I'm not trying to be mean, but an M16 A1 is that. That's the only M16/M4 type rifle that was issued. Notice the full stock, the triangle forestock, and the flash hider, and the short mag(this was the only type of mag issued in Vietnam era, but please dont quote me.). Also the M16A2 got a bolt release and a cleaning kit issued in the butt stock. That's all I'm saying and again not trying to be mean, just trying to help with your Vietnam loadout. Also Tactical Arms on the Outdoor Channel did a segment on tactical gear, which they go in depth about Vietnam web gear. So you can look into that about getting a bit more accurate. So hoped i helped.
actually, it was made to be an xm177, which was in use in vietnam as an experimental weapon. as for the m16a2 stuff, it was custom made and i got the body for christmas, so i just went with that. also, i got the mags before i made the gun, and i couldnt find the funds to buy the short mags while my local store had them in stock. for information on the xm177, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAR-15 there. i know wikipedia is kinda meh, but i can't find any other sites very quickly that arent trying to sell something.

Ok, I've got to know:

How much does your loadout weigh when competing? The one I have when going up against my friend's kid and his buddies weighs just enough to make me reconsider the whole "running" thing... and that's on a good day! I say this for myself only: it's hell getting old!

Seriously, I'm guessing some of those must weigh 15 -20lbs easy and that's not including the gun, right?

Slappy, I'd hope that you aren't planning on going into the military anytime..
And most rigs, loaded down, will be around 10-30 pounds. It all depends on the type of rig and all te must have tacticool accessories, but not including your weapons.

Easily 20lbs. I have not weighed mine 100% kitted out yet. I will have to step on the scale and do a before (without any parts of the kit, normal clothes) and after (full kit, boots, gun, etc. etc.).

A systema PTW is just under 8lbs loaded, without any after market parts on it. Battery in the gun.

A systema PTW magazine is a little over a pound. I carry 11 magazines, the gun. So for an estimation, we'll call that 20lbs. Plus the 6.6 pounds in the 3 liter bladder. With that total, we're at an estimate of 26.6lbs. That's not including the pistol, pistol magazines, holster, actual cordura gear, tools, batteries, BBs, helmet, goggles, boots, and anything else I can think of. My kit probably weighs close to 35-40lbs completely loaded, and I'm sure people probably share similar burdens on the field.

Also, the TT Hydro takes up 4 MOLLE strips horizontally.

EDIT: I like my SERPA, however, I want a Safariland because I like the way they function a little more.

My kit weighs about 35lbs with my gun and water, and I don't have a sidearm or a good belt yet.

Been there, done that. That was back when I was a younger whipper-snapper. My brain still thinks I'm 18, but my body knows otherwise, which is a hard reality to face when I get the thought in my head to chase down a member of the opposing team through rough terrain....

Hey man as for period correct mags, my father served in Vietnam as a Gun Truck Operator (He Drove) don't remember his unit, but I could ask if that is needed which I don't think it is. He told me that while where issued the small 20 round mags in bandolers, he got his hands on two 30 round mags and tapped them together for quicker reloads. If a trucker can get his hands on some 30 round mags an infantry man should be able to as well. Hope it helps. Nice loadout, kinda heading the way of Vietnam myself when it comes to gear.

Beside the belt color and the high cap, you are indeed looking good
Would rather go with the ACU vest though
