Worst broken limb?

Okay, so two days ago I broke my left index finger. It's not as painful as it is just friggin' annoying. Of my family, I am the clumsy one and I get hurt the most. So my question is:

What is the worst you've ever broken/ dislocated/ shattered something, and how did you do it?

I'll start:

Okay so last February I broke my arm snowboarding. I was at Perfect North, and just riding on a very easy hill trying to get to a more difficult one. I don't consider myself a beginner in snowboarding, as I've been riding for 2-3 years. Anyway, on that baby of an incline, I caught an edge and fell on my arm. My arm hurt a little worse than I've felt before, but It was manageable so I did a couple more runs. By that point my arm was throbbing so I went to the ski patrol, where I was informed I had been riding for 3 hours with a fractured right radius.

Okay, now it's your turn! Absolutley NO PHOTOS of your horribly disfigured injuries, although I think an X-ray/ Catscan would be okay (if you have it).

Well, I'm indestructible but my buddy Louis isn't. He has a bone disorder and prior to his surgerys back in 05-07 he broke he's left ankle 12 times, his right ankle 8 times, and few other bones.

well last summer I was riding a dirt bike and the front tire locked up and I broke my collarbone, and then about 2 and a half months ago I was riding a fourwheeler and I hit a jump and then my foot slipped off of the peg, and the fourwheeler landed on my ankle and wrapped my leg around the tire and I walked on it for 3-4 hours, and then I went to the doctor and they couldn't read the x-rays or something this was on a Friday night so I had to wait until the following Monday to go to the bone specialist and then I found out that I had a broken ankle, and tore about 5 tendons. lol.
and I've broken a few fingers.

I'm lucky, the worst I've ever had happen to me was a dislocated little toe.

I was just sprinting around the house like a tard and jammed my little toe right into a corner. It hurt BAD.

Other then that, I dropped a dumbell on my big toe and the entire toe nail fell off. It was kind of sweet.

I stubbed my finger playing BBall a year back, was told to pull on it and keep playing. Needless to say, the curve in my finger was not from being stubbed. What's even funnier is, it's my ring finger on my left hand. Wedding ring wont fit on it now... damn the bad luck.

Funny, same thing happened to me, only it wasn't BBall, it was putting the wedding ring on in the first place.

Texx, just talking about the "breakage" brings back bad memories. She should have just shot me with her new SIG, physical wounds heal....emotional ones last forever.

I dropped a bowling ball on my finger and broke it a few years back. But my friend vikram has had a pretty nasty fracture. It was during a soccer game and he was going down the field when he was suddenly slide tackled by another player. The opposing players foot hit vikrams foot and shattered his ankle rotating his foot 90 degrees with bones nearly peircing his skin. It was bad.

When i was in 6th grade the first hour i got my "heely" shoes, the one with the wheels in the heel, i tried going down a hill...... didnt work!!! i fell back and had a open fracture in my left arm. Both my radius and ulna were snapped. and incase you dont know what an open fracture is, it is when your bone comes out of your skin. i still have a scar from wher the bone came out.

I broke my toe about 5 weeks ago and haven't been able to play this past month. That was real hell...not the pain so much as being out of the game. When I was 30, I broke my knee joint riding motocross. The doctor said he only saw this type of break in bad head on collisions, where the leg bones are jammed into eachother form the hit. It was a bad break, across the ball of the lower right leg bone and down in to the bone. I only had the cast on for three weeks, as I was required to remove it and begin working the joint so a calcium ridge would not develop. It still acts up now and then during weather changes, but we manage.

besides the broken ribs from trying flips in snowboading. i use to work for dish network and my ladder slipped out from under me about 15 feet up is where my feet were at and i landed all my weight on my right leg. i broke the tibula (how ever it is spelled) in 3 places and my fibula just exploded. 3 surgery and 9 months later i was back out working for dish network. lets just say my 2 year old son can out run me.

its going to sound a bit dumb but i was in gym about a year ago. i was sitting down on my *** with my feet straight out and my friend walked by and jokingly kicked me in my left foot i kinda hurt not that bad i just couldnt walk on it at all. my ankle would buckle everytime i put weight on it. so i carried on woth my day and walked home. then the weekend went by still couldnt walk on it and when monday came around my wrestling coach woudnt let me practice ha yeah i tried so he sent me up to the traner he told me i sprained it. some pain went away but it was always there and i get sick of it so i went to the doctors they said it was a really good fracture. haha man i think i should of went to them first because it that process took 9 and half months for me to figure that out

Took a baseball bat to the eye once, it wasn't purty.

30 stitches, a broken orbital bone, and 2 other broken bones in my face later, I was good to go.

It sucks that I don't have any pictures.

What makes it worse is that I had gotten out of a cast for my broken arm the week before.

The day after thanksgiving in 1995 I was driving home from my grandmothers house near somerset kentucky. I was driving a 1994 chevy cavalier. I started coming into a mountainous area that was also wooded. Now if you are familiar with kentucky roads you may know that in some of the more rural areas when they cut a road into the side of a mountain/ravine there is a sheared rock face that runs along side the road. In this case the "ditch" was narrow. I was coming to a sharp curve that was also going down hill along side one of these ravines.

It is here that i feel that i should fill in on a little back story. The day before and the morning of thanksgiving it rained. It was cold, but apparently not cold enough to allow it to snow. It was later in the day on thanksgiving that the temp dropped enough to allow some snow to fall. Over night it dropped cold enough to begin freezing some of the water left by the rain. Now again, if you are familiar with KY roads, the rock faces that line roads leak water when it rains, when it freezes, they form small frozen water falls.

Huge icicles can form on these walls. This is what was in store for me as i came around the corner. An icicle formed and actually spilled onto the road. My car hit that ice and slid to the guard rail. I think the impact from that made me release my foot from the break. It's all a little blurry, but i was told that judging by the marks on the road it appears that i slammed on the gas after i hit the guard rail. Anyway, my car sped into the "ditch" and hit a culvert. The impact was such that my car flipped/rolled.

It is important to note that i was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. I was thrown out one of the windows and the car rolled over me. It is also important to note that my skeletal structure is denser than every doctor i have been to has ever seen. Before and since i have never broken a bone.

On this day, i suffered:

Pelvis fractured in 5 places
3 broken lumbar
2 broken ribs
2 dislocated hips
2 blown knees (acl and mcl)
left hip skin and muscle torn away
Ruptured spleen
various abrasions and road rash

I also had a growth problem in my hip when i was 16, and suffered a condition known as slipped epephasis (sp) that required surgery. When the orthopedic surgeon operated, my bone density is so high, that they broke 2 bolts, stripped the head on 2 others and stripped one of the tools. If it wasn't for my bone density in the car accident, the car may have cut me half...

Dougrich, no disrespect or offense meant to your friend whatsoever, but is he the villain from Unbreakable played by Samuel L. Jackson? Anyways, I fractured my tailbone twice (I think), once falling off a stool when I was little, and once sliding/falling down 10 steps. Both times I just kinda ignored it (never went to a doctor), but it was terribly painful to sit, or stand, or walk, or move in general. Never a broken bone though, maybe I'm the hero from Unbreakable... Great movie.

march of 2008 i broke my wrist in i think it was 3 or so different places. i did it playing basketball the ball was goin out an i dove and saved it an for some reason which i never do that day i put my arms out to break my fall an the way it landed my elbow bent toward my hand in a sick direction.(yes, im that dedicated of a player) my friend mike said it looked like my elbow was close to touching my hand but im not sure because he usually exagerates.

anyways i got a drink at the fountain after the game but they were older fountains where you have to rotate the handle in forward direction an i went to push the knob forward but i couldnt do an my hand started to shake. i went 3days before goin to urgent care because i didnt want to spend the money on something that might just be a sprain. the doc there said he never saw a break like it before. he sent me to an orthopedic an he said that i would most likely need surgery so i got during spring break which sucked.
