Question Gun Not Firing After Re-Shimming

Hi guys,

It's been a long time since I've used the forum, but in the best interests of getting some traffic through here, I decided to drop this here instead of FB.

I just re-shimmed and replaced the bushings in my G&G Combat Machine GR16. Everything seemed fine afterwards, before I put the gearbox back in the lower receiver.

Turns out, it doesn't fire. I could have swore everything was moving freely before I put it back in the receiver. The trigger causes the motor to click, but doesn't roll anything over.

I just wanted to ask and see if this was definitely a shimming problem (having to many on the gear(s)). I'm pretty sure that's what the issue is, but I really didn't feel like tearing it all back apart if it could be something else.

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Probably shimmed too tight.

I'm no expert tech or anything, I just know a little more than somebody who knows nothing.

That being said, it definitely sounds like you may have shimmed it too tightly.
Either way, I doubt there's a way to fix that without taking it apart again.

Your anti reversal latch is probably incorrectly placed.

Sounds like it is shimmed incorrectly. You're going to have to open it back up.

Yeah, I figured I probably had it a little too tight. I just wanted to make sure before I took it back apart again. Thanks for the help guys.

As everyone else said, but some really good info on some other problems you might run into (specifically AOE, but it's a really good shimming guide as well):

Check polarity on the motor wires too, if you have them switched the gun will click like it's trying to fire, which would make the same external sounds

If your shimming the gearbox yourself before you reassemble the entire gun.
Assemble the gearbox without all the pneumatic parts in the upper gearbox so the gears spin freely. Attach the grip to the gearbox and put the motor back in to test by manually sliding the selector plate to the auto position and pulling the trigger. Hear how it sounds. It should sound smooth with no grinding sound. If it does something was done improperly.
