Angry Dust cover retaining nub for a CA M15A4

So I've been searching around the internet recently to no avail looking for the small plastic/metal piece that holds the dust cover closed on the M16/M4 series AEG's.

Unfortunately all I've been able to find are replacement dust covers as well as the bar hinge and spring. I bought one of these dust covers and it doesn't fit, the catch assembly on the cover is to big to clear the bolt cover as well as hold the dust cover closed. I guess that's what I get for trying to find the cheapest one...

I'm wondering if anyone knows where to find just the nub (preferably metal) or if anyone has a spare one that they would be willing to sell for a few bucks.

You could also reverse the spring to hold the dustcover closed.

You can take apart the dust cover and pull out the nub. Just make sure you do it slowly because there is a spring that pops out and you might lose it. The nub you take from the aftermarket dust cover may require filing on the sides.

1. Remove screw
2. Remove panel CAUTION the spring may pop out!
3. Inside dust cover remove nub & spring.
4. Replace parts
5. Reassembly

I fixed my broken nub using parts from this: http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_i...ducts_id=27312

The nub on the aftermarket is actually welded into place (I did get a reaaaaaally cheap one...no idea why I was expecting it to have the CA style nub assembly...) I have taken it apart so I know that there is the separate nub piece that I know can be replaced. I just haven't been able to find that nub for sale online.

Are you sure it was welded into place. The nub wouldn't function properly because it moves up and down on a spring. Well buy the SRC one and use those parts.

the nub isn't welded into place but the piece that holds it is. I'll put a pic up in a while so you understand what I'm talking about. I've seen parts available on almost all of the major websites but they only offer replacement dust covers that include the nub, and now I'm reluctant to buy another one if I don't know it will fit...

I put the SRC one in mine and all I had to do was file the side a little bit.

Texx, thank you!! I had a facepalm moment when I read that! I'll probably end up buying a new dust cover anyways but that will work for now

By the way for anyone who might need it I found the piece i need on AirsoftAtlanta.com but they don't have it in stock... so much for finding it easy...

Thanks everyone, and I'm still open to anyone who wants to sell me one, be it the dust cover as a whole or just the piece I need.

Almost forgot, this is the POS cover I ordered... not a good idea... and it isn't even welded in there, it just looks like they took a screwdriver and distorted the metal to create a very jury rigged flange to keep the nub assembly attached to the dust cover.

another view...

Wait isn't that a real steel dust cover? I think I've seen that same one on AR15.com. That could be your problem.

I don't think it is real steel... It came off ebay and was definately marketed for airsoft... I actually bought it specifically bacause the ebay description said it was tokyo murai compatible which of course turned out to be a load of crock.

I have seen someone's picture on the forum here with this dust cover installed and if I could find a way to remove that stupid round catch assembly and drill a screw hole to attach the CA on.

However, the metal is flimsy and I'm not to kosher with the laser engraving, I bought it for the purpose if fixing my CA cover only so I'll probably toss it.
