Unhappy Untimely mag release (AEP)

Awhile back I bought an AEP, and this past weekend I got the chance to break it in at OP: Cold Toes (Thanks Blade for a great event). During the day I lost a mag in the field. Thinking to myself "that's odd" I wondered should I tape my next mag in or not to prevent such a thing from happening again. After cringing at the thought of tape on my gun, and many unsuccessful attempts at trying to recreate what ever pressure on the holster would cause the gun to give up her much needed mag, I decided that it was just a fluke and would probably never happen again. After loosing another mag (but finding it again) I can see that I was clearly wrong there.

So my question is... Does anyone else have this problem, or just me? If I'm the only one, then I'm guessing that it has to do with the interaction of my holster to my AEP. However, if more people have this problem than I, it probably has to do with poor design of the mag release (weak spring, button sticks out too far, etc) More than likely, I'm guessing it is a combination of both.

I am specifically talking about the Glock18c (that is what I own), but comments in regards to any AEP (ie the M93R model) are welcome.

Thanks,
Enoch

This is common for a lot of people, this is the first Ive heard about it with AEPs. I have seen this many times over with many GBBs; WA, TM and some springers. You're best option will be to use tape across the magazine and onto the hand grips. It does have to deal with your holster, I have an Uncle Mikes for my WA M9 and have not had this problem.

Very common problem. I've lost about four pistol mags in field from them falling out. Either tape the mag in, or take the mag out of the gun and load it when you need to use it.

I know this is a common problem with pistols in general, but some pistols and/or holsters magnify the problem in the ways I described above. I am trying to determine which is the case in my situation.

Useing tape/leaving the mag out is not an option for me. This seriously hinders the functionality of the gun, as well as violates the principles of realisim and profesionalisim I strive for in airsoft.

Fox,

I'm not sure of the brand name. I got the holster free with a broken pistol. It is a drop leg. I konw it was bought at Airsoft Arms for something close to $25 so it's nothing too special. Judging from the price and pictures I'm 99 percent sure it is the Leapers, Special Operations Drop Leg Holster

While I don't have a AEP, I know lost mags are a pretty common problem. Personally, I'd look at a different holster. I've been using a BHI Special Operations Holster and a BHI CQC Serpa Holster and have yet to loose a mag in 3 years of skirmishing and going to events.

i agree with nextmayor i had the same problem of loosing mags until i got a serpa holster. it holds the gun tightly but it doesnt put any pressure near the mag release button which causes the problem.
