Gas or Spring Sniper?

What kind of sniper should I get a gas or spring powered sniper?

I'm new to airsoft sniping but I thought it would be good practice. I'm going to be a marine when I get out of high school just like my brother he's still at boot camp and he is the one who modivated me to want to be a marine, but anyways I was leaning toward buying the Well Warrior L96 AWF Gas Powered Sniper because its amazing it just has everything I want in a airsoft sniper rifle realistic feel and weight and the stats are nice too like 490+ fps but with red gas its 800fps but that's just not safe to be shooting at anything with that much power but I thought it was cool and is accurate up to 200 feet with regular green gas.

So what do you think a last longing gas sniper or a good spring sniper that just isn't as good?

I will be the best marine sniper!! Hoo! Rah!

You may even want to look into an m14 route. It's an aeg, but can have sniper range. I have been playing airsoft for a little while now and wanted to get into a sniper role/DM role. After all my research, the G&G m14 seemed the best bang for the buck. I will be purchasing the rifle tomorrow and will then write a review in a few weeks.

1.) It's Marine
2.) You really do not want to waste your time in airsoft with sniping. It's very short lived for 99% of people who choose it. You'll be much better off with something with at the very least the capability to fire semi-auto. Airsoft sniper rifles are really not representative of real steel counterparts. Unless you're dumping almost 1k/plus into custom tuned parts and such, you really won't achieve much.
3.) Don't be running around here saying you'll "be the best marine sniper!" it reeks of little kid army man syndrome, which wears thin very quick. Otherwise, your post was well constructed and straightforward. Research a little bit more and be sure of what your saying at all times and you'll do fine.

Welcome aboard!

I have but one thing to say about buying a G&G M14: You're making a mistake.

The G&G M14 is notorious for being a POS. It was an awful design by G&G and the thing loves to break down. If you're going to buy an M14, you're wasting your time unless it's a Marui. Classic army is good, but the Tokyo Marui is by far a thousand times better than the G&G could ever be. Same with the Classic Army.

Now, as for sniping - Spring is the only way to go. Gas is inconsistent, and they tend to be an inferior product. Buy a VSR-10 and upgrade the hell out of it. That's the only way you're going to have an effective bolt action rifle.

Gas guns aren't as accurate from my experience (KJW M700) cool down of the gas makes them inconsistant. They also suffer from low mag capacity, and extra mags are generally more expensive. I have found spring guns to be more versatile, you can change velocity by changing springs and they are easier to reload (no gas needed). Every sniper I see on the field has had a spring gun if that tells you anything. My 2c
