Thumbs up CQB Workshop AAR

Thanks guys at G2 Tactical Consulting for running a very excellent and mind expanding workshop at Roseville today. I had a great time and learned a ton. Now I just hope I can get into some events where guys know these kinds of tactics and put them into practice.

I think one of the most important things I learned was how little I know about CQB... now I respect the complexities, detail, and effectiveness of the professional approach a LOT more.

And thanks OpFor guys for pulling no punches... you were devious and merciless. I'm glad you didn't go easy on us, because you challenged us to the point of making mistakes. And we learn a lot more from our mistakes than we do from easy successes.

It took three teams and some medivacs, but we finally got that bastard Bin Laden and extracted him successfully! Those were some great scenarios guys -- there were lots of interesting problems to try to solve, and coordinating with three teams over the radio was an interesting dimension (platoon tactics!)

G2 and Sarge, thanks for working hard to elevate the quality of play and knowledge level of our sport. Keep up the great work.

And to everyone who missed this workshop... You can play airsoft on any given weekend, but you should not miss these training opportunities when G2 offers them.

I look forward to the next event!

-s

PS: Oh, and guys on Squad 2: It was an honor. Today was a good day to die. Repeatedly.

Thanks to everybody at G2 Tactical Consulting, I had a wonderful time. I learned a lot and have some new tactics to pass on and use with others.

I personally loved the sportsmanship displayed at this event, no problems whatsoever. Everybody called hits and was very aware of where they were shooting. I enjoyed the on the ball problem solving and evaluation of the buildings and threats within the buildings.

I liked how it was set up and will be sure to pass on the word to others and attend more games.

Videos from my camera should be up in the next days, will post them on the AAR.

P.S.-Ruffy, I will always remember

Have they done any improvements to the lot? The first game I held there they took $5 extra for each person (about $750) so they could put gravel in down by the gate where it gets really muddy.

WHAT A GREAT DAY!! If you didn't show up...you missed out!!!!

First off, to all of the "students", you all did awesome. You learned well..and to prove it, that last take down on the 4th floor of building #1 was epic....right up until the "Blue and Blue"..lol!!! Remember, with 2 stairwells...you could always have a 2nd friendly team advancing!!

Sarge...AWESOME listening to you instruct!! You are a wealth of knowledge and I think that the guys learned a lot.

To the OPFOR (The Forsaken Knights and OSU)...Myth, Ruffy, Duece, Nighthawk (woodchuck) and SKY..you guys are always awesome to run with!!! I think we made it fair and challenging for them and it was a blast!!!

I would also like to add....since the OPFOR was out numbered and initially we had specific tasks to increase the learning, we had a "no hit calling" allowance and the "students" were great at understanding that!! I will ADD...that once we had everything up and running, the OPFOR then started calling out hits and everyone was GREAT about it!!! GREAT sportsmanship!!

To my camping buddies....1..damn it was cold..and a good thing I knew when regsitration was..LOL!!!

Oh and one other thing......"THE GAME"!!!

It still really muddy. On a side note, a portion of the back wall has fallen down. If the brick is removed and an entrance is made with some cover, the prison is made a little bit easier to assault (although its still a pain in the butt). I think the more games we have the better the field will be, just like any other field.

OK, I want to personally thank Sarge for his training day. I had a blast and I learned a lot. It was really good to have someone know what they were doing who could show us what we needed tow do. I really liked that you emphasized muzzle awareness. A suggestion would be to have your instructors run through a drill first to show us how something should be done. The other suggestion is it would be helpful to have an instructor with us on the mission, just to keep reinforcing the lessons.

I can not wait for the next training day. Like Slash said, I learned how much I do not know about CQB. It is slow, methodical, and it sucks because you die...ALOT. Then again, thats why we train, to get better.

Now for some shout outs, thanks to the Knights for hosting this. Its a great location and running with you guys is always a pleasure. Also, BWs after was epic. OSU guys, convoy duty was fun, watch for deer and the occasional red neck who cant use roundabouts. To the guys I ran with, get out to some open plays, this was not a normal game. Opens will have a lot more running and gunning.

Now if I can only figure out how to not ND my M203.

I want to start with Thank you to G2 tactical and Foresaken Knights for the great time yesterday. Sarge you make an event more of an experience, with your communications and thought out missions that change as needed and without warning. Without these unexpected mission changes it just wouldn't be the same as the experience you provide.

To anyone that has not been or have jumped ship at the last minute to go to another game. "YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU HAVE MISSED". I have to tell everyone that has doubt about Training or workshops. They are an essential part of becoming a Unit, without training and practice you will not quite get the sport to the next level that we all
desire it to go. Training classes with the added effect of Missions to use and develop the skills that you have learned is key. Anyone can go out an shoot at someone, it takes a Unit to work as one with each other to successfully complete a mission in both Real Steel and Airsoft.

I took two people with me to this event that are MW2 crazy. They had the idea that it was going to be just a bunch of people shooting at each other with bb's and thought that it would be a fun change of pace. As we began G2's workshop I seen some disappointment in their eyes, until they realized that these were the techniques that would help them become as good as the are online. Did I mention that they didn't event speak English like you and I. The workshops that G2 tactical holds are made for you to understand the importance of teamwork and how every action determines the outcome of you and your Mission success. What I am trying to say is from Newbee to Ex military you can learn and improve you skill set with G2 tactical consulting without limitations or boundaries. To end this I would like to add that after the class, missions, and a better understanding of the sport they were on the phone calling friends to get their gear and come to the next event or workshop.

Thanks again to G2 and Foresaken Knights as well as the teams for another great event.

Holy crap what a fun day. Sarge, it was a pleasure meeting you and helping with the setup. You gave the guys who showed up an invaluable lesson in CQB tactics, and their improvement as the day went on was obvious. I would like to hear how everybody performs on the field.

Being OPFOR was an interesting change of pace - a differently kind of challenge to slowly give ground for a force of 5 spread across all that real estate. Special thanks to Myth for pulling this thing together. Tommy, Ruffy, Deuce, Nighthawk - always a pleasure running with the Knights. Thanks to Steve for representing OSU as team 2 leader. Stang, glad you came along for the BW3's afterwards.
