Question PTW/CTW: How do you access the hop-up nub?

I am trying to get to my hop-up nub on my CTW as it is protruding too far into the barrel jamming up any bb's trying to pass through. I took the set screw all the way out and it didn't adjust the hop up at all so I think I need to reset it into place.

I can't figure out how to separate the barrel from the hop up unit. I see a small metal piece with 2 holes in it, I think that is the hop-up key that holds it in place but I have no way of getting that out. It is in there pretty snug.

Does anyone have any links to tutorials or know themselves on how to access/replace the hop up?

I already use the 'search' feature on the forums, sorry if I missed a thread.

Any help much appreciated,
Hans

dumb question here but ya never know... did you try to adjust the hop up? turn it counter clockwise for increase hop, clockwise to decrease hop.

by taking the set screw out, you've effectively set the hopup to as far ON as it can possibly go. Put the set screw back in and turn it clockwise until the hopup is no longer visible down your barrel. Then adjust it out to the preferred setting.

I don't really think you need to disassemble your hopup until, but if you need to, I'd assume it's probably a copy of the Systema hopup unit. You'll probably need some special tools to get it apart. If you need to know, let me know, but we'll cross that bridge when we know we need to.

Try first suggestion first and we'll go from there.

I tightened it all the way and it still seems its sticking out too much. Almost smushed into the barrel.

Step 1: Decrease the hop-up. If that fixes the problem then you are golden.
Step 2: If Step 1 fails to remedy the problem then disassembly of the hop-up unit may be required. The silver piece with two holes is indeed the key to the unit. Remove that piece and the hop-up will separate from the barrel voiala.
Step 3: Realize what caused this issue in the first place and never do it again.

Honestly, the easiest way to remove the key is to find a small screw that can fit in one of the holes, screw it in and then pull it out by the screw. They do make a tool that can do the job as well.

Wow, Why didn't I think of that. I put a small screw in, popped it right out. And turns out the reason it was sticking too far into the barrel is because the hop-up nub unit was snapped where the set screw is and the screw was just curving it upward into the barrel.

Gotta get a new one.

Much appreciated for all your help!

No worries. Glad everything is going to be okay. Just figure out why it happened and try not to have it happen again.

Haha, great... Now I know what to fix for the hop-up but now whenever I plug my battery in the gun fires on full auto without even touching the trigger.

Any ideas please?
