Some gear help please?

So I've started my multicam loadout off with BDU from Propper, purchased at 321. I have now come to an impass... Should I get a chest rig, or a MOLLE plate carrier and add pouches? I love how the chest rig looks plus it is cheap (made by Condor for 26 bucks), but the plate carrier has options being MOLLE and all. I'm also considering what type of helmet to get, I have a big head and when I tried on the FAST helmets that 321 had they were too small. The guy there recommended the Emerson Fast helmets. Any suggestions?

I run a molle chest rig because it has a lot of area for pouches. A chest rig isnt my first choice because you can't customize it for each mission.

I have the fast helmet, I wear a 7.5 hat (military size) and it fits great.

It all depends on the chest rig or PC

Rage, What are you trying to do with your rig?!
While having option is always good, if you get such options but never planned to use any of them will not end up being a good choice for you.

What kind of guns and accessories do you like to use/run?
For instance, some players like to run with AK or MP5 and that require specific pouches, which might need a MOLLE system to accommodate. If you run an M4 platform, most vests will not be an issue. Your mag style and size will definitely figuring out what kind of mag pouches will be required but also what kind of "space" you will need.

Next, if you don't like running around with a bb of bbs and loader, you might have to consider less big pouches and more mag pouches. If it is the case, would your vest allow such swap?! You need to know the gear you plan to use to know what vests style or size might suit you best.

On top of that, do you like a 5lbs vest or a 60lbs vest? small rig will limit your options faster than a CIRAS for example and will end up lighter but at the expenses of not being able to load your kitchen sink on it. I saw players running with 20 mags on the vest but barely using 5-6 of them. I also saw guys with 40mm grenades but without launcher...

Make sure you know your "combat" requirements before choosing your vest and your decision should be much simpler...imho.

Blade kinda nailed that. What do you do with your kit? I'm not going to recommended something like a DC3 for a SAW gunner, that doesn't work.

The plate carrier and chest rig choice is all a personal choice. I have used both and depending where I am going, what op, the style of play, and other factors come into play when I pick what rig I am going to run at a game.

As for a helmet, you will probably need a L or XL helmet size is what I am going to guess. Try and find someone at an event that has one and ask to try it to see if it fits. Figure out the brand then go find it and buy one. As far as helmet style, again what do you want to do with it? NVGs, lights, or just cool guy look?

I've personally found that all that extra **** that tacticool people wear is not necessary. I'm building off of a Haley Strategics Rig, which is practical but not necessary. Sure, no MOLLE but it's very practical for me. If I want to customize, I wear a MOLLE belt wear I can mount a holster, more mag pouches, a dump pouch, etc.
boots are a must as well.

I'm also a 7.5-7.75 and my circumference is about 24 inches. Once you measure your head, find a conversion table and figure it out. I'm looking into a MICH 2000 but I've used an IBH, a baseball cap and sometimes no headgear which also works.

An those tags. ;_;

LOL, like your Haley rig won't be as "tacticool" as the other ***

Point is, does it work? yes, than it doesn't matter if it is tacticool or elitist

Correction: Staying tacticool while being practical. :P

When I say tacticool and not practical, I'm talking about big plate carriers that you can hardly move around in, or weigh you down.

I plan on mounting a Contour camera on the rails, which is why I thought a FAST helmet would be perfect. I run a full length, full stock M16 for field, and a KWA MP9 for close quarters. I never use more than four mid cap mags when I can help it and I don't have launchers or grenades or anything like that. With a chest rig it looks as if you might get more free range of motion than wearing a carrier, which I like. Mobility is key, right?

That would probably be Andy (Big Red).
It's a fairly frequent tag.
Pretty funny, especially if you know who Panda is...

I would look into a Tactical Tailor 2-piece MAV or something similar. They're relatively inexpensive ($60-70 new, $40-50 used) and sound good for what you want. They're MOLLE based so you can put whatever pouches on them, and are split front to don and doff easily. Plus the straps adjust to enormous lengths, so you won't have to worry about fit.

I have one, and love it. It weights almost nothing, is breathable, and I can put whatever I want on it. There is plenty of MOLLE space if you need it.

I plead the 5th.

Relevant: Would definitely second Pyro's recommendation on the two piece MAV from Tactical Tailor. It will be much higher quality than anything Condor, and it is pretty inexpensive.

You do not need rails to mount a contour. You can do it on any helmet you want, with or without rails. My plate carrier gives me full range of motion, yes it might weigh a little but exercise and get used to it and it is no big deal.

I think I will go with the MAV, should I get it in multicam or some other color? I do still have an ACU loadout so I could get it in CB and just get pouches that are multicam?

Ranger green matches ACU well.

Right, but if possible I would like to be able to run the MAV with both ACU and multicam.

Ranger Green will match ACU and Multicam equally well. The Rangers know what's up. I'd recommend a TT MAV like what Kellis said and BigRed approved of. It's lightweight and MOLLE so you can add whatever pouches you wanna add.

These tags.

Back to OP, I think ranger green does compliment MC quite well. +1 for that.
