True, but at least newer players joining in the future would have the knowledge.

Great post, as a noob I can tell you I read it all.... all sports have etiquette and rules, knowing that makes the sport more fun and you less of a pain-in-the-*** to those who really know what their doing. None of us want to do the equivalent of talking while someone is putting....

That really was a great post. My son will be going to his first game soon, so I added that to his required pre-skirmish reading.

Airsoft can be cheap, it all depends if you want to play or show off like Mr. Kong

Beside, airsoft is far more than just a sport. it is a hobby, a passion, a training tool, etc.

Question I'm new and have a few questions

OK I'm going to try and make it to the game this Sunday 2/28/10. But... I need to know all the restrictions, rules and guidelines. Ive read the "what is to be expected" thing, but still have questions. What do you mean by death rag? What would be exceptional attire for the game? And would regular goggles work or do they have to be a certain type? I'm trying to get this together last-minute, so any quick responses are kindly appreciated, along with any responses at all. Then I would like to know where I could get a schedule list of all the times and dates of the upcoming matches as far ahead as possible. Thank You

A death rag is a red rag that you can put over your head when you're "out". I allows other players to see that you are out and hopefully prevents (or reduces the likelyhood that) someone from shooting you. You can usually buy a pack of red shop towels at your local auto zone store.

Acceptable attire would be some form of BDUs (Camouflage) and appropriately colored boots (black/tan), though it is primarily event dependant. While some events may allow you to show up with jeans and a tshirt and white (or especially red) tennis shoes, that doesn't mean that it is recommended, and may disqualify you from playing at Milsim events. Tactical vests and other accessories are not required and are completely optional for most events. Some events, however, may require some kind of gear or certain accessories for specific roles.

"Exceptional" attire would be adaptive camouflage battle armor Matrix Z9-X1 compatible, or bettar.

Your goggles MUST have a full seal between the goggle and your face around your eyes. This prevents the BB's from entering and hitting you in the eye. Goggles MUST also be ANSI Z87 or ASTM F1776-99 (or better) rated. If your goggles do not meet these standards or if you do not know if they do, event organizers reserve the right to test your goggles prior to allowing entry into the field.

This info should be added to the original sticky.

One thing the little "team" I'm in does to reduce the likely hood of point blank shots is to have engagement distances set up. If you see an unfriendly inside of that engagement distance, you can say 'Bang Bang.' If you and them are facing, you're both out, if you are behind them, they're out. It hasn't came up yet, but it seems to be a good way of handling it.

In my opinion I think that new players should be prepared and have all the nessesities for an event instead of bringing minimal equipment. New players should be mindfull of all the rules that an event leader makes or modifies. I also feel that these new guys need to have the will to be fully involved during an event such as moving up when theyre supposed to and acting like a real soldier on the battlefield. That's my opinion.
