Jables' Guide to Staying Interested in Airsoft

I think we have all gone through that point in our airsoft careers where we feel like we're completely burnt out, almost to the point (or for some of you, actually to the point) of quiting. So how do we prevent that from happening? Well, in an effort to trying to get everyone talking on the forums again and to stir up discussion (and possibly help a few poor souls), I'm going to tell you the things me and my friends have done to do our best to stay interested in the sport.

One thing we have ALWAYS done, is purge our gear/guns. When airsoft gets boring, it's either one of two things: Either the field you play at has started to suck for whatever reason, or you're bored of what you're rolling with.

Sell your guns, sell your gear. Start from scratch and take a completely different approach to how you play.

Another thing is simply find a different field to play at. Not anymore around you? Encourage others to attend your local field. Advertise around your town or online. If the community at your field sucks, change it by bringing more people as to change the crowd. If the field itself sucks, talk to the field owner about possibly having a work day or two so the PLAYERS can choose how they want the field to be like.

Does anyone else have anything to add?

I like the ideas you have here. I haven't been doing this long, but I've found that I have a certain amount of airsoft that I can handle. I don't want to be out there every day or even every week, I would burn out. I've found that every two or three weeks I start to get antsy and want to get out there. Don't burn yourself out. If you need to take a break to recharge the batteries, do that. And then come back.

I agree jables, I too have went through this "phase" once and I did just what you suggested. I sold everything I had and took about 3 months off. I didn't even look at AO or anything airsoft related. After those 3 months, I was watching First Blood and found myself scrolling through online pics of airsoft guns (aka airsoft porn) on my phone.

I decided to rebuild an entirely new kit and decided to go a different route with guns. I have to say I got the fire back in my belly. If I start getting bored again, I will do the same thing.

I never thought about trying new fields, I'm a very shy person so it makes me nauseous to think about being surrounded by a bunch of new people. Not too mention some people I meet while playing are elitess d-bags who just like ripping on new players, young players or players that don't have top of the line gear.

Might be good to get out of my comfort zone though.

Gather some buddies from your local field that you attend, and take them with you. Makes the trip more fun, and brings you closer to the people you see normally.
