KWA LM4 PTR and PTS GBBR

So KWA has released a new prototype of an M4 GBBR. The PTS features an LE stock and normal handguard, while the PTR features a Magpul MOE Stock, handguard, pistol grip, rear sight, and magpul's M4 body.
Personally, I am really excited for this. With what looks like the externals of the KM4 series AEGs, and the KWA GBB internals? Yes, please.
AirsoftGI is the only place where I've seen a preview, and I think they are the only people to have it.
The video is here. I am very excited.

I thought the rumor was that these would only be available to LEO/Military. Did something change?

I'm pretty sure they have another GBBR M4 that WAS LEO only, because the lower was the exact dimensions of a real M4, and could be modified easily to shoot real rounds or something like that. This is a new one, one which will hopefully NOT be LEO only.

They (ATF) could fit a RS upper on the KWA lower... That doesn't mean you could fire a real round through it. That was what was keeping the KWA GBBRs from getting into the country legally. KWA has since tweaked the design to please ATF. That's also not what distinguishes the rumored "LEO only" model and a "Civi" model.

Just a few seconds into the video, "This will change the airsoft world!" I honestly can't tell if that'd blatant ignorance or forced promotion by KWA... I mean seriously, Inokatsu and Viper Tech have been making great GBBRs for a while, AND they aren't proprietary like everything KWA/KSC.

Thanks for correcting me on that. I hadn't been following airsoft during that ordeal, so I was just repeating what I had heard.

Well, the magazines for the KSC M4 are $80+, and that's Hong Kong pricing. Probably closer to $100 in the US... yikes! Magazines are IMO the biggest drawback to GBBR's, they're just so darn expensive and there are no 3rd party companies making cheaper alternatives. Major turn off for me, but hey, I guess you gotta pay to play.

I'm sure these will be nice guns when they arrive stateside though. I wonder how efficient they are with the System 7, I'm impressed with the performance of the S7 pistols so I'd imagine that the rifles must be good.

KWA's original assertion was that because the original design of the KWA GBB rifles were essentially copies of the Western Arms, the ATF would have to approve all imports in the case LE/MIL wanted them. From what KWA has told me in the past, as well as recently, they have not imported them for LE/MIL sales because there was too much "red tape".

The issue revolved around the possibility that someone could easily modify the lower receiver of the KWA M4 GBB's to fit a real trigger group, mate it to a real upper, and have a weapon that could fire at least one shot, if not more (before it exploded). It wasn't for the sole reason the lower could be mated to an upper.

Recent news is that KWA has modified their rifles in a way that should keep the ATF happy, and there is supposed to be a "Major Announcement" next week at Shot Show regarding this topic. My KWA reps have been very excited about the upcoming news, but they havn't revealed to me what it may be, aside from it being about the GBB M4 and AK series rifles.

So stay tuned I guess. Shot Show is next week so we don't have long to wait.

Its funny you know, Tim has NEVER liked GBBR's....but this comes out and he is all over it? He is such a tool. Anyways, This isnt going to change the whole airsoft world....but for $500, its not a bad price. Ino is double that and WA ( G&P) are the same price. Mags will always be the major problem but if you want realistic feel, you will pay for it. Heck, Im paying a crap ton for my upgrades to my WOC and I still havent gotten the 8 mags yet that I want. It will burn a hole in your wallet for sure, but its well worth the money!

I knew it was forced promotion. Typical ASGI/KWA over-hype.

If you want to get as realistic as ever, then yes. They do make CO2 magazines for just about any weapon so you can use them in the cold, but its just a crap ton more to invest in.
