P90 Magazine Pouch Option

Okay, I've heard a rumor for a while now that USGI bipod pouches fit the P90 mags. For a long time I surfed the net looking for this elusive item. Then for some reason, I did a search of eBay, Auction Arms, and Gun Broker for "bipod" and came up with a bunch of hits. I was lucky enough to pick up a new surplus bipod and pouch for $.99 plus shipping. They usually go for between $10 and $20.

Well it came in the mail today. The pouch is a bit long (just a little), but the P90 mag fit in it perfectly other than that. A little bit of wadding will solve the length problem.

In general, this is just a long skinny OD pouch with two buttons on the top flap. There is an ALICE clip near the top, this pouch can be used any where that works with ALICE clips. The construction is unstructured and the material is a nice heavy weight nylon, pretty much like the rest of the pouches that you can find at a surplus store. Do not expect a hard form fitting pouch.

Be aware that there are about three different versions of this pouch out there. There is the OD nylon one that I got, marked "US" on the front and "CASE, BIPOD M3-12002974" on the back. There is another US version made of that really heavy OD canvas type material as well as an Israeli (spelling) that is also that heavy canvas, but is a brownish grey with no lid. I have not tried either of the canvas pouches, but the nylon on is nice.

I just wanted all of my fellow P90 users to know about this now confirmed magazine pouch option. I wanted it because my P90 is now my back up AEG and I wanted an easy way to change my load out if my M4 went down. Now I can just add these pouches to my vest or belt and not have to worry about changing all of my gear.

Hmm, a couple of these on a Modular vest and you'll have a P90-specific vest.....

That is also a bonus that I'm thinking about.

I use bren gun pouches, Dropzone Large utility pouches, and Tactical Tailor large utility pouches.

I'll double-check how many mags each pouch can hold, but I'm pretty sure the large utility pouches can hold 6, although quite tightly. They fit quite nicely on my TT 2-piece MAV. (via MALICE clips)

I've totally forgotten how many the bren pouch holds.

After checking, the bren will hold 4, but won't be even close to closing. It'll hold 3, but most be convinced to close.
