Harms of Metal Propane Adapter?

Hey all,
So I'm just wondering, is a metal propane adapter that harmful to your mags, and just overall that much worse than plastic adapters?

I'm asking, because I can either get a KWA M9 PTP with a metal propane adapter, or the KWA KP45 with the NS 2 system with a plastic propane adapter. I like the M9 slightly more than the kp45, but I would go with the kp45 if the metal propane adapter is going to do that much harm.

Thanks,
Radixz

I don't understand why it would be. The regular green gas tips are metal and I haven't heard of them causing problems. I have both a plastic adapter I got free and a metal one. I don't see any difference in performance but I tend to use the metal one. I could more easily see the plastic getting brittle from the cold and snapping bits off. Someone else feel free to correct me if I'm missing what he's saying.

Agreed with onsite. A normal can of green gas has a metal tip, and it causes no problems.

I myself use a AI plastic/composite propane adapter. I was a bit suspicious of using a plastic item for such cold temperature use, but it seems well constructed and hasn't given me any problems yet.

Okay, thanks guys.

Yes, I did also put 2 and 2 together and figured, hey if green gas canisters have metal tips then a metal adapter should be okay.

And, after a little more research, I've narrowed it down to either getting the KWA m9 ptp, or the WE 1911 tactical.

It's a tough decision, but I'll figure it out eventually.

Thanks,
Radixz

metal propane adapters are typically harder than the brass fill valves in most GBBs. The idea is that it *may* lead to damage by deforming the valve if used incorrectly. That is what I have heard however I use a metal propane adapter and have yet to have any issues with it.

As many times as I have used both the metal propane adapter, and normal green gas bottles, I have yet to witness this, hear about it, or otherwise encounter it.

Okay, thanks for the info everyone.

And since the metal adapters don't seem to be an issue, I be going w/ getting the KWA m9 ptp.

Thanks again,
Radixz

The only harm I've seem is more of an issue of people using too much force when filling their mags. This results in damage to the fill valve. I'd assume they could do the same with greengas. This is more of a matter of learning to properly fill the mags than anything else.

you've never heard of someone damaging a fill valve before? Apparently texx has.

Well since you have well researched findings to establish your current theory on metal vs. plastic adapters, can you show me your data?

Including
-Multiple brands of adapters tested
-Multiple conditions used in
-Stength tests on metal vs. plastic

Can you give us these?

I detest to that. I too use the plastic AI ones and I also have a metal one. I forget the brand name but I got it from GI and they come in an assortment of colors. But the metal one **** out on me one my first few fills. But the plastic one has been kicking for a while. I'd go with the plastic one.
