ANSI Rated?

I bought a paintball/airsoft mask from Airsoft Arms a while ago, but I forget if the lense is ANSI 87.1 (or whatever it is) rated. I looked for links with the mask, but I couldn't find one. However, I took my teammate's 430 FPS AEG and shot the lense, shattering the BB, not the lense. What is the best way to find out if you lense is ANSI rated or not?

Usually the packaging should have something about whether they are ANSI rated. Generally most paintball goggles are ANSI rated, so I wouldn't sweat it too much.

If you are seriously concerned, I would suggest contacting Darkstar (as he's the owner of Airsoft Arms) with the specific model of goggle you bought, and I'm sure he'd be willing to tell you whether or not they comply with the ANSI rating.

Thank you, I guess I can use them at OP: Black Aura II. I've also been shot by an upper FPS limit sniper at OP: Rising Pheonix, so they should be fine.

Actually, most, if not all, regulation PB goggles are rated ASTM's F1776 not ANSI's Z87.1-2003. ASTM's are held to higher standards as they need to withstand an excess of 11.8J (a paintball at approx 300FPS) where as a .2 at approx 550ish is only 3J. Paintball googles (not mesh/wire ones) are (IMO) a definitely safer alternative for airsoft than military eyewear.

ANSI - American National Standards Institute
ASTM - American Society for Testing and Materials

The number represents the standards document from each organization.

The ANSI Z87.1 impact rating is an eyeware rating for lenses for all types of eyeware.

The ASTM F1776-99 rating is an eyeware safety standard specifically for Paintball eye protection.

Both ANSI and ASTM Exceed the standards required for airsoft by a large degree, so your paintball goggles are going to be just fine.

Darkstar out.

Any military goggles should be Rated ANSI Z87.1, Assuming they are military goggles, because military goggles are used to stop metal fragments, sand, etc.(don't quote me). The best way to find out is to type in the brand and type of the goggle into a search engine to find it and check yourself.
