Did you know...

Posted 02-25-2010 at 04:36 PM by ISKRA
I wanted to take the time to honor our brothers and sisters in arms, shall they never be forgotten! When the East coast was hammered with snow the past couple of weeks, few people continued their duties, except our armed forces.

The attached photos are of the D.C. Old Guard, still protecting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, regardless of the conditions.

This is an excellent reminder of what our troops endure on a daily basis. No matter what may stand in their way, they always find the strength to leave it on the sidelines to continue the fight and accomplish the mission.

I've been to the changing of the guard ceremony numerous times, always in the best of weather.

Thank you for reminding me that the Old Guard is keeping watch over the gardens of stone regardless of the conditions.

That is one of the single most regimented units i know of other then sf and rangers, one of the hardest units to get into and to be able to wear the bage of the unknowns, is one of the most honored awards, other then the blue infantry cord or the CIB, well done .....very well done ...thank you all my brothers and sisters current and past, and those who rest in arlington and abroad ....thank you

They also had the chance to stop guarding when a Hurricane was close to DC, but they refused.
