Airsoft isn't necessarily BETTER, its different. The differences from other sports make it a better fit for people who enjoy shooting, spending time with people, shooting the people they spend time with, and cracking jokes about large-breasted women with cat ears.
Now you can shoot people in other sports, but usually not without charges being filed against you.Posted 04-21-2009 at 09:01 AM by Texx -
My reasons as to why I think airsoft is better than other sports are as follows, in no particular order, and are not limited to:
1. Guns are cool.
2. You get to shoot people without killing them.
3. I suck at almost every other sport.
4. I've never been slapped on the butt by another man for doing a good job in airsoft.
5. I'm not running for 5 hours straight.
6. Did I mention that guns are cool?
7. The players don't get as worked up about losing as players of other sports do.
8. Other sports bore me (see reasons 2 and 5)
9. It's the only sport where I can smoke after each skirmish.
10. It's just fun, plain and simple.Posted 04-21-2009 at 09:08 AM by Lunchbox -

I like airsoft a lot but I don't thnk it is better than the other sports I play. I love coming out and playing with my friends and shooting people all day but I do like other sports a bit more. The reason I like wrestling more is because it is basically leagalized assault, you can just really go out there and nail a guy like you can in football and then when the match is over you and the other guy are still able to be cool about it because it is a sport and is something we both enjoy. Also, it is just you and that other guy on the mat, whenever you win a match you know you did it all by yourself and is something to be proud of and then look back later and say: "wow, I really did all that by myself."

Really? Airsoft doesn't take physical and mental preparation? Seriously? I've only went to one game, but I know better. Any regular person can get on the field with an airsoft gun but you'll do much better by putting yourself in the right mentality for the game, paying proper attention. You have to be good with your gun, know it inside and out as well as your gear, unless you want to find the downside of what you're wearing or using in the middle of a game. If you want to be good at it, you practice.
I also ended up RUNNING, jogging and walking through woods up hills to resupply as the medic for over 4 hours. I learned I could definately be in better shape. Some people form teams and squads and move, communicate and fight like the military, or SWAT or whoever they model themselves after. Or as I said any regular Joe can get an airsoft gun and fire some plastic.
Basically it comes down to what others have already said, it's a matter of opinion and experience. I could say football or wrestling isn't a sport because "I" don't treat it as one, or I can just accept as I do that others put their all into it and it becomes one, and can be treated as such. Airsoft is no different. There are rules, teams, strategies, skill, winners and losers.Posted 04-22-2009 at 09:14 PM by Apollo -
