1st?
Anyway... great games, great field, great fun!
broke the iron sights off my aug (wich is out-ranged and out powered by my TMP) Watched as wallace dumped his whole team's ammo supply... played in the creek... just wish that I have a sniper rifle :)
Great playing with you peeps...
*edit* Oh yeah, and many kudos to the organizers!

Yeah, that was a good game, I'd like to thank the people for letting us use their field, that was really awesome. It seems much funner to have a long standing game than many 30 minute games, but unfortunately as the day came to a close, some people were a little irratable. All in all, I'd do it again if given the opportunity. :)

Great games!
I loved the field. It was probably the best place you could have for a game like this. It was packed with action and we didn't have many problems. Those panteros were wicked! They sure loved to hang out on those hills next to the creek.
Oh, and it was great seeing some of you guys that I met at Sudden Kill and also those who I met today. I can't wait to play with you again!
Many thanks to the organizers and to the players. It was the most fun that I've ever had.
EDIT:
I believe that I saw the judges carrying cameras (correct me if I'm wrong, I was too busy getting shot at). When could we expect to see the video/pics that they took?
Thanks!

Yes, definately the best game i've played in my year of airsoft. All i have to say, is that pantero's kick ***! hell ya, u kno it. Thanks to whoever got in my line of sight, I wanted to make my SR's second sniping experience a great one. An all you LOP made it possible, I'm proud. But ya, Decoy, BlueJay, all the 6mm that were OC's alot, nicely done. I'm proud to call that field our home field. Lookin forward to Op S&B2 or whatever we will host there next. And koodos to everyone, i saw no cheating today, and that's a first.

very fun games. 1st half of the first game wasnt too fun, alot of confusion getting used to the feild and getting a blood welt on my nose....but the second half we owned. me and a buddy were down by the creek past the white fence way back behind the enemy camp setting up ambushes, and we were quite successful.
2nd and last mission was fun, alot of kills so.....
big thanks to wallace

First, GREAT JOB to the organizers. After looking at the satellite maps I was kind of worried, but boy was I wrong, it was a great field. Second, Props to all of the LOP who held that bridge until the bitter end in the morning. And a huge thanks to our general, Punisher, who not only came up with solid plans but also motivated the troops to get back into action and not hang around in the morgue.
Since this was my first AO event, I just wanted to comment on some of the things that I noticed that seemed really important.
1) When the observers were watching the firefights they seemed to go much better than when they were not (people calling out and such).
2) Communication is key, when people would just fire without calling their targets so others could concentrate fire they would often either miss the target or get overrun.
3) Sometimes enough is enough, at the end of the day I think people should have just called the game and maybe had an end of game debriefing or raffle or BS session. It seemed that nerves were frayed and people were, um, losing their sportsmanship awards
Again thanks, and it was great meeting you all in person.

Great game!
I had a great time, cool field. It seemed very one sided though, but thats what made it fun, trying to take the drug area. Good job to all the LOP we did awsome. Thanks to the 6mm militia for a good time.
Maybe we should have renamed it "A Bridge Too Far?" :p
I just wanted to thank the 6mm guys for hosting the game. The venue was really good; Something different for sure. I hope the Church let's us use it again in the future, seeing as it's now knee deep in 6mm BB's. :D
I do think that with the combination of fatigue, frustration, and uncertainty in ROE, it made it easy to get upset pretty damn quick, but I'm learning that's to be expected. I DID notice a lot of people on the US side were getting shot in the neck/face/head during the last game, and in many of those situations, there was ample body shot available. Don't know how much of that happened on the LOP and El Pantera side, but just something for all of us to keep in mind. Then again, that's why I wear that full face mask. ;)
Good game everyone!

Does anyone know when we can expect to see pictures/videos from the event? or even if they are going to post them?
That was great, many thanks to the 6MM and the Church for letting us play there. That really helps keep us all off the streets and out of everyone else's way you know.
Wouldn't want that crowd wander aimlessly on the streets now would ya.
There should be many tales of bravery and a few legends coming out of this one.
I saw a lot of really great play.
And again, even tho not perfect, (impossible to please everyone anyway) MUCH THANKS to 6MM and the CHURCH for hosting and allowing the event. It was done with a lot of heart and very well.

Hey guys,
I am glad that you all had a good time on Saturday. I'd like to thank Punisher and Wallace for putting up with our shrowd of secrecy concerning the entire mission. I'd also like to thank Scotlvr for coming out as an OC and giving us a much needed hand. I was amazed at the gameplay, little to no cheating, no SERIOUS injuries (i saw some bloody whelts).
We had 3 digital cameras and 1 video camera going around during the game. Wallace, Blade, Bluejay and myself all had cameras out in the field. I will post, or give a website out to get at least the pictures form my camera.
If anyone lost anything, please post it here incase we find anything. Blade, I have your goggles.
We'll talk to the church about running another game, thanks for your support.

First of all, I would like to thanks 6mm for this wonderful event. The field is just great, the water is just refreshing enough and the open terrain make the raid very enjoyable.
As far as the game itself, they were ok even I thought US would be more aggresive. I have to say that few guys got me very well though..
Perhaps, as every event always has, there was some confusion within the day that brought stress and animosity a little. I think it's pretty safe to say that lot of people were not raising their hands when hit so by nature, if you see someone turning around, gun down, you are assuming he is dead. Well, if you see the same guy walkin in front of you, you will think he is dead and he's just leaving the field....WRONG.
There is two occasion I could talk about:
1. First, I shot one guy from around 120ft. He turned around and started walking toward me. I didn't know I got him but as he kept his gun down, I was sure he was coming to talk to me, so I assumed he was not a threat....and was right, he was coming to talk to me.
2. There is a guy standing 100ft away, I shoot at him, he drop his gun and say something. Start leaving the field toward the bridge, relax, not running nothing. I assumed he is dead so I leave him alone and keep shooting on other players on my right. First thing I noticed, the bguy is 10ft away and surrendering me. What am I suppose to do? in a certain way, he didn't have his hands up so yeah, I shouldn't have assumed he was dead. So I just took the surrender and left the field.
Now let's go back to my first example. what if I would have just assume he wasn't dead and would have just shoot him again? don't you think this guy wouldn't have been pissed a little?
This is exactly where the problem is with this whole issue. Sportmanship needs to be applied both ways or not at all. Should we assume in the future that if you don't have your hands up, no matter if you yield "hit" or what so ever, other players could shoot on you as long as you don't have your hands up?
That could also solve the problem of people not calling out for the first seconds....I got guys that called hit almost 5 seconds after I got them, should I just reshoot then?
But anyway, just so people knows, I apologize if I seemed to lost my temper (I didn't but just to make sure :D ) and just to say that my day was very very enjoyable, I would return there tomorrow if we could....
Two thumbs up for 6mm.

overall I thought the day was great. I had a really fun time despite some problems I ran into throughout the day. The field was excellant; I really liked the openness and the layout as it made for simple games that turned out to be a lot of fun. Thanks of course to 6mm, namely Decoy for running the show and the church. I don't think cheating was very bad, it was on par for most events. But I think the bigger problems was in the second game where the terrorists were trying to retake the lab. the building-to-building fighting was exciting and intense but a lot of times the enemy was right around the corner which made for close engaugments many times. There were people *****ing about it so that I guess was a blemish to the overall day. I personally didn't mind being shot close but I know many other took offense to it. Maybe this could be cleared up later. Great day, great field, good game

I had a great time yesterday. Thanks to the organizers and the church. 6mm, you guys did a great job!
I hope the black radio I found in the tall greass on the north side of park found its owner. And, if anyone found a standard M-16 magazine with black duct tape on it, please drop me an email.
Thanks to Mom for finding my teammates GBB mag. We really appreciated the fact that we wouldn't have to listen to him complain about it for the next 2 weeks.
Solution to being shot or not: If you do not have at least one hand up you should not be surpized at continuing to get shot. Personally, I do not find it that hard to hold up at least one hand. I still got shot a few times with a hand up. So I held both hands up then.
If you do not have the ability to hold up at least one hand, then you may not be fit for playing this game. Oh yes, I did find it hard toward the end of the day to hold up anything, but I sure tried.

my only problem with the cqb was the unwillingness of teammates to advance (I can understand the fear of injury... but even when tangos were a good 100ft off the LOP just stood there. :\ So I tried to break the stalemate and charged... I think I even asked some LOP ppl to charge in after me... anywho, I charged around the side of the #2 cabin from the south with only my pistol... I get off a good 6-8 rounds because I really had the jump on them, and I took 4 rounds from fairly hot gun. The burst worked its way up my arms and into my face... a nasty welt on each arm and two right on the cheak... these two actually broke the skin (from 15ft away I think)... Its incredible how little it hurts when you're pumped up on adrenaline. (so now I've got two perfectly round scabs about an inch apart on my face and every customer at work wants to know what happened)
so who was the one that managed shot? kudos to him for the quick reflexes :D
'nother thing, I need to upgrade my AUG... even though there were quite a number of stock guns on the field, the few hot guns just dominated...
Like Blade said, if there was another game there tomorrow, I'd be there in a heart beat.
Blackrider, I agree with the 'stand around' attitude from many players. Maybe inexerpience, cuz there were several who charged on when provided with cover fire. That got us (LOP) to the 3rd bldg several times.
Seems there is nothing like teamwork and aggression eh?
LOP owned the first 2 bldgs most of that last game, and half the 3rd one. Just everyone pooped out on the 3rd bldg. We have had lots of discussion on that one.
I think LOP kicked everyones butts on all 3 games. Defended the ENTIRE field for 2 games. TOOK and HELD half of the bldg end of the field last game, and, I was on the gravel road between their respawn and bldg 2 aiming at one of the US when horn went off at end.
LOP rules.
I had an awesome day. The field was awesome and crossing the creek that was up to my thighs was a blast. I came around a corner with my pistol and got one shot off on one of the female players ( THanks for coming out, its nice to see more females coming out to play, not only just the ones form EZ company) and the guy besides her popped me three times underneath the chin and once in the finger with his rifle. Quick reflexes man and I have a mark to remember it bye:) . Also, in the beginning during the rules part, did anyone ehar the rule of no shooting rifles at the cabins? What happened there? I know everyone shot at or from the cabins at one time or another. Thanks to decoy, wallace, and punisher for hosting/organizing/ commanding the game. Thanks to the 6mm militia and the church. THanks to EZ company (and duane) for the a good game and the meal at golden corral afterwards.

Hello to all:
I usually don't have many positive comments but WOW, what a day. Thank you to Decoy and all of the men that made it happen. Also thanks to Blade for being there in my moment of need when I realized that I left my battery at home.
I must have duck walked to Japan and back judging by how bad my legs feel today and everyone on the other side left a fair share tatoos on my back, arm, and face. Maybe an offensive charge or two isn't such a good idea if only one or two will follow you. No matter, I wouldn't have changed a thing.:)
There was a guy working with me in the second match that I didn't catch his name. We did a knife kill togeather next to the creek. Good job and who are you?

I was on the LOP side!
Decoy and all that made this event possible (players included!).
This was the most fun I had playing arisoft since OP FFA back last year. You guys really knew what you were doing. Looking back on it all, it seems like you guys knew exactly what was going to happen either way and I found the scenario very well laid out. The field was very well laid out for what was planned.
Make no mistake team USA, I fought harder then I can ever remember that day. Several times I was using all of my strength to run back to respawn or to crawl up a steep hill. Kudos to all those who helped hold the bridge for as long as we did. I attribute our stiff defense to excellent leadership and above excellent communication and use of the radios.
The best part about the whole day was that I truly felt like I was fighting for something. Instead of defending a pile of rocks, we had a little village of cabins setup. The feeling was there that when the US approached things were really getting out of hand and it was time to really defend our territory!
The second best part was the way that the 6mm boys were around to answer questions and dictate air strikes and mortar shellings. The only thing I can suggest is next time use smoke bombs to add to the effect! (A smoke bomb in the back of the “U2” would have been really cool!) It was defiantly also cool to see vehicles delivering troops. It’s heart warming to feel the impending doom when a truckload of pantera’s flies by (waving I might add)!
I do feel that the original USA spawn point was in a good location, PRE-BRIDGE when they were confronted before they could cross the river. However once the bridge was blasted (or taken by the US) their spawn point should have been moved closer. I know the ½ mile hike when we were attacking was a tad absurd.
Only other thing that may need revising was the part of being able to shoot down the hill near the creek, but not up it. The only way to counter the people at the top was to find a safe spot to climb and then move over at the ridge to get them. It might be best to make the ridge off limits (at least to shoot from).
I would prefer to just ignore what happened at the end of the day, as it had no real effect on how I felt the rest of the day went. There were some lowly things that went on, and it’s unfortunate, but I know that nothing is perfect and there were many people on the US side that were in fact very honorable.

Total BS here, I have to say. I had a stock gun and did VERY well and never really noticed any disadvantage. That’s not to say, don’t upgrade, only that I noticed no substantial disadvantage. Perhaps, it is all in the tactics or a possible problem with your guns hopup?

I am all for the charging as well. The problem with stand offs is that you are operating at your gun’s maximum range and have limited accuracy (and more susceptible to those with longer range weapons), all the while you tunnel vision sets in and you become more and more vulnerable from your flanks as time moves on. “Best defense is a strong offence” mentality. Or as I prefer it, an aggressive defense eventually leads to offence.
Again, great event, it will be hard to live up to. Great job done by the 6mm Militia and a pleasure to fight with all the guys from AO again.

oh, please dont say "total BS"... maybe "You're exagerating a bit here", but you have to keep in mind that all the while that LOP was on D I was on the right side and so most of the firefights I was in were the stand-off kind... we had IronHorse on the right side and he was hitting guys that the rest of us could only suppress. You have to remember that we stock guys were shooting at the very edge of our effective range... the US guys with stock weapons were actually hitting 3 or more feet short... but there was one guy (or maybe two) with upgraded range and accuracy who could still reach us.
when you're more in the open or closer range (like the left side) you can arc your shots to reach out and touch someone... but with the trees you can't do that as much.
anywho, would "dominated in certain parts of the field" be a better substitute? :)

BlackRidder,
We shouldn't say the hot guns dominated the game. We should honestly say the most aggresive attitude won that day.
Look carefully how the day went. What makes that one team moved more than the other one? The fact that she was fearless. I even saw players rushing building with pistol only. As we have always said, the gun doesn't make the player...but courage will give you a lot.
spewy
06-24-2003, 09:53 AM
Blade, I couldn't agree with you more.
Any of the games Saturday could have been won by either side with a large enough assault. It is important that when one or two make it to the forward advance, the rest should follow. I remember several times I made it to the cabins only to look behind me and see no one to hold it if I were hit. Which of course happened and it was right back to the beginning. I saw a lot of players in a forwarding role bunker down like they were defending something.
I would also suggest that once a certain amount of people make it further into the cabin area, the spawn area be somewhere on that side of the creek. It seemed that the offense seemed to have a long walk back to respawn and the defense had their respawn very near by.
spewy
Moving the respawn point forward is a great idea. Maybe as different goals are made, just the opposite of having your respawn over run.
That might get more people willing to charge ahead.
The Tick
06-24-2003, 04:23 PM
A closer respawn would have been a big help. I was being pretty aggressive in the afternoon which meant I kept getting hit. After several round trips to the respawn I was exhausted.

yes, but I'm talking about the more static situations... (as I said, most of the day I was on the northwest (?) side (towards the pavilion) and most of my engagements were of the standoff type.

anywho, that was fun! lets do it again. ;)

Just so you guys know, the respawn points we chosen with having the US outnumbering the LOP. We didn't get around to altering them. When we first planned this out we planned on having more OCs to handle things like that at the last minute, but given the size of the staff certain things had to go unchanged.
I cannot say when we will be able to have another game at ILP but I can say that I will be working on it.

Blackrider,
Incase you don’t remember, some of the teams (I guess only B-STAB…) switched positions during the second half. The whole second half I was chasing creek crossers and truck delivered Pantera’s.
There were points where I couldn’t hit the enemy, but he couldn’t hit me either. The Pantera’s put on one heck of a fight and used hit and run tactics on us and as we approached they broke engagement and fell back, it was obvious that they were buying time for something. Their force was substantial and posed a high threat, but then it broke in two, one went along the back river/creek (which met the Strikers) and the other stayed around the open area. Fortunately for us, we eliminated them with out a second to lose. Immediately afterwards at the very rear 2 out of our 5 person team was cut off from the main base (and the rest of our team) by a force of about 10 US. Time was on our side and it ended up we either shot them or chased back across the creek (I don’t know why they fled ???) when our reinforcements arrived. I guess the point is, my team ALL had stock guns and had absolutely no problem with any one gun dominating the field.
After that, there weren’t to many other large-scale attacks from the rear, so we took up on patrolling the creek bed and helping the foreword defense as much as possible.
BTW, how many people were squeezed into that truck???

This was my first tourney / mil-sim shindig, and thanks to all of you who made it possible. Well arranged, great field, rad people, good guns -- just an all around wonderful time.
I only have one regret however: Since this was my first tourney, and I rode up there with my little unofficial "team," I'm relatively unknown. I made some friends, and I wanna keep in touch with them, but I don't know their usernames!!
I was wearing full BDU's, with torn-up knees, in Ranger Div., black balaclava, tac vest, G36C with Knights Suppressor and a red dot sight.
I was in the knee-deep portion of the creek melees, got wet, assaulted the cabins several times, and I teamed up with Spewy and Glaeken (? if youre the guy who used the ICS MP5 and were with me in the creek...) several times. I just wish I had some way of finding them...
If any of you remember playing alongside of me, and we b/s'ed, please contact me via AIM or email... I'm a lonely loser with no airsoft friends... lol, not really, but ya know.
Thanks a lot to Wallace and all who arraged this, once more.
And, oh yeah!! Ryan (Snipe) -- we so owned the last round when I Glocked it and you covered me when we stole the ammo box... rad times... lol
Bye all, hope to play again sometime...

I can't believe I waited so long to post.
First off I'd like to thank Decoy and the 6mm Militia for hosting this game. You guys did a great job! Thanks also to the church for allowing us the use of their facility. Hopefully we can utilize it in the future.
What can I say that hasn't already been said? Not much. The field area was fantastic. When I first saw the openness of the playing field I had my doubts, but when the plastic started flying I realized how much cover was actually available.
The creek/bed was a welcome 'splash' of change from the grimy, grungy and unmentionable conditions of Fran bar.
Decoy and Co. did a good job of creating straight forward mission parameters with a few last-minute twists.
The non-US forces put up a hell-of-a fight. Their well coordinated, massed attacks, near the end of the day, sure should show those opposed to offense that it works. Remember folks (US team) that the closest we got to the objective was the first cabin! And that one had a conveniently placed mortar impact zone near it. Nice job Punisher!
I'm glad we had another chance to fight together. The camaraderie that we share on and off the field is what keeps AO alive. Are there times that the heat and exhaustion of the day activates tempers? Sure. But I hope that no one gets offended and that the players make attempts to discuss the outburst. I think it usually ends with players shaking hands and vowing to 'live to fight another day'.
Again we've had a chance to meet new players or one's we haven't played with yet. This is good. I was humbled by some that remembered MY name and I didn't remember their's. (Sorry folks!)
There were those from other teams that I 'teamed' with and you guys did great. Skatastrophe, that WAS me. Thanks for watching my back. Here is a link to our picture, we are talking as we make our way back to the assembly area:

To my team: Way to go! Pete, I think things will work out just fine bro. Dax, nice movement. Can we go back to Golden Corral? Will they let us back in? Duane, what can I say bud, it's good to have you in the family...even if you are a Striker....hehehehe.
Since this isn't the Academy Award ceremony I'll shut up now.

Yep, that's me Glaeken...
Just a shame that all the piccytures of me are from my southbound side. If anyone knows, are there more pics waiting to be updated? I'm not complaining at all, cos I can't even afford a digital camera...lol, I'm just wondering.
Anyways, I am missing that skirmish like a dog in heat... we should definately play at that field again, I know I'd do it. Oh, and mad props to the people from EZ Company... first time I got to play with a REAL team, although I kinda just happened upon random squad members during play time.
See you guys around sometime again, hopefully.
Decoy this was a fantastic event! This was PURE AIRSOFT at its best!
The field was awesome. There was an actual paved parking lot, a very large covered shelter area with picnic tables, ACTUAL RESTROOMS, and a creekbed that kept 50 players reloading the entire day!
I have never reloaded my mags so much. If all the games were like this one I will need to purchase a couple more hicaps!
Can't wait to play here again...please say thanks to the church for allowing us to litter this place with bb's.
I think the waitress will be happy to see us at the Golden Corral Glaeken!
