age limit
strikers_blade
09-03-2005, 08:04 PM
We will try this event at 15 years old so you have to understand that the future of 15-16 in our (Hardlock and I) events depends on you. ;)
If you are part of a team and below 15, please let me know, we might have exception.
The Snow Man.

*sigh* I'm only 12 soon to be 13, i guess it's couple more years of backyard wars for me:(
strikers_blade
09-03-2005, 10:00 PM
Well, make sure your profile is updated because you are 14 in your profile ;)
And btw, this event request specific age limit but we will have another one on October 22nd with less restrictions. You are more than welcome to join us.
Son of Liberty
09-03-2005, 11:41 PM
Oh come on!! Thats just.....*sigh* dont even get me started. You don't see me saying oh only 13 year olds can play. thats just.....I speak for every kid thats under 15 right now. Thats just Unfair. This is going to be my first operation when I can use my left leg cut me some slack please.
strikers_blade

Cut me some slack? LOL.
Son, you are part of a team so you are ok. BE aware though, as we focus on team more than individual, your whole team will depend on you. If you fail showing us you can play, they fail too ;) . That is what we call teamwork hehe.

He's exactly right, there is a reason for age limits which is above stated. Some times younger players can't handle being under fire but there are some more mature younger players out there.Plus, what will the younger player feel like if he gets hit?
The Snow Man.
09-04-2005, 10:26 AM
We will just see if i can sell my PSG-1 by then.
Son of Liberty
09-04-2005, 01:12 PM
I've been hit plenty. And believe me when I'm getting shot at I don't sit there whining and complaining and wanting my mommy. Most of the guys on my team are young around 13 to 15. We all know that when we are under fire you can't just sit there you will get hit if you don't do anything about it. What I tell them is to do something about it and get the guy shooting at us to go die. I understand what you're saying about Maturity. But about when a youngster gets hit. Thats just totally not true. Who knows a younger guy can get hit and cry and complain or he/she can do something about it next time and suck it up. I don't see younger guys saying older guys can't play in an event. If this has happened I haven't seen it yet.
Armyguy
09-04-2005, 01:42 PM
I don't think its directed as an insult, its just simply a fact that a younger player is not as mature as a older player. Now Im not saying that there are not younger players that are not mature, and Im not saying you are not one of them, but some of the younger players have been known to show bad sportsmanship ect. Like blade said, you guys just have to prove yourselfs, and wait for the chance to do so.
Blade- Im still trying to get answers from some of the team, so far most of us are going though.

Chill out Son, I'm making a point. That's great that you can take care of yourself in the field.I dont see a lot of younger teens being able to do that.
Like Armyguy says, there are still younger people out there that wont take hits or have bad sportsmanship.Hopefully not everyone is like this but I haven't had much experience playing with younger people.

Folks, let's move on about the age thing please. I told Son I would give them a chance to proove themselve so now lets wait and see. While we are at it, the message can be given to all teams, as also have older players not taking their hits.

Monkey_slap,
You can swap gun if you want.
MC51Ed, let's put the age thing away please. It is not the place to discuss about this, as I already said younger player could proove their abilities and maturity ;)

I saw in the roster on the registration you only have a couple "No Team"s registered. Hope a 3rd who's a complete newb won't be an issue. Registering...
Looking forward to it.
Now for the moronic question: Strikers_blade - Do you have Directions to the field somewhere? I didn't find them on the webpage you gave.

Let me clear this up. I know for a fact my Grandpa is going whether I go or not. But my friend Greg and I we are both 13, did this whole fiesco I started mean we can play? If we can't I understand why. Sorry for bringing this up but this is the last time.;)

Master,
It does sound indeed "hard" to say that players without a team are not allowed but it is in fact better than just saying no to all players under age ;).
Again, this is a "milsim" event, which will focus more on tactics, strategies, fire control and most importantly, fire control. We will have plenty of games coming, and thise games will not have team restrictions. That way, everybody are happy :)

I hope things are well with you and the rest of the Strikers. Looking forward to seeing you guys at OP Irene III.
I was hoping you could help me out. I am trying to find out where I can buy a Pryme Ranger boom mic - SPM-463A. I believe you said you knew someone who was a dealer for Pryme.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Mojave,
No problem dude, just make sure you guys register on AEV for the event. As of right now, it is complicated to organize something around 40 Kreigers vs 13 Tropicos :D
x-statix
09-15-2005, 02:13 PM
Do you have to be a Kreiger if you are woodland or could I be a Tropico. The teams don't look to even so far.:p
strikers_blade
09-15-2005, 02:42 PM
Woodland is Kreigers. Tropicos can be everything else but Woodland, OD (kreigers) or Tigerstripe.
Don't worry about even teams, we are working on it. ;)

Alrighty, well, I'm offering myself up for carpool in the Milford/Eastgate/Amelia area after having a terrible experience with having to try and depend on Taylor Turner to be my ride to todays game at Red Dragon Paintball. So, shoot me a PM and I have room for 3 to 4 people to pool with me including gear, unless all peeps who want to go are loaded with gear, then I might have to cut the limit down. I want to provide a reliable ride to those who need it. Also, at this OP I still have two extra vests and an MP5A5, possibly a SOCOM too, to use as loaners to those who need 'em.

on the site the ammo rules read "There will be no ammunition restrictions for this event. Being said, all players are responsible for their own loading tools and bbs." so i can use my 300 high cap? or should i try and buy some standard mags before the game? thanks.
Son of Liberty
09-25-2005, 12:07 PM
Won't be able to make it, I won't have my new gun and I'll still be in a cast for 2 more weeks.

I was wondering the same thing is this going to be low cap only or are we allowed high caps and mid caps?
Hillslam
09-26-2005, 02:48 PM
Radios.
If we're to use em - Do they have to have subchannels? I have a motorola that, while abit older, has a monster range but not subchannels.
strikers_blade
09-26-2005, 02:56 PM
Son and Dougrich,
I just find out my "mag restriction" icon do not appear in the event rule menu so just to make sure everybody knows, this event will use this rule;
- Unlimited 30rds magazines
- 10 reg magazine max
- 2 Mid cap magazine max
- 1 High cap max.
Now, you cannot combine any of those mags rule, meaning you cannot use 9 reg mags and 1 high cap or 12 Star mag (30rds) and 10 reg mags.
Hillslam, The radio channel will be given on site. Sub-channel are not required but many teams prefer to add it.....which will be up to you all. In our case, we will do it easy.
Hillslam
09-26-2005, 03:06 PM
Support gun ammo rules?
1 box mag? 2? Unlimited? Can I supply my fireteams as a support gunner if I use say speed loaders?
strikers_blade
09-26-2005, 03:11 PM
1 Box mag, unlimited ammo.
As far as supplying, I don't understand the question
Hillslam
09-26-2005, 03:14 PM
1 box mag - unlimited. Got it.
Resupply... to explain: So if I've got butt pouches with ammo in them to refill my box mag can I use that ammo to re-supply my team on the field if they come to me? Meaning we load their mags with my ammo, not that I carry extra mags for them. So I palm ammo into a BB Loader (http://www.airsoftarms.com/viewproductdetail.php?ProdID=3775) , use that to top off their mags, and send them on their way.
strikers_blade
09-26-2005, 03:18 PM
yes you can.....this is the end of the year so I am slacking on few rules ;)
Hillslam
09-26-2005, 03:26 PM
Thx for the clarification. Not that it'll be needed - those seem pretty generous ammo rules anyway, and I don't intend to just be a bb donor. Still, M249 fires the standard NATO round, so I thought I'd be interesting for a twist.
Looking forward to this event, especially having missed Irene.

Less than 2 weeks before the event folks. I just want to remind you that while I loosen up on the milsim rules (i.e. allowing one high cap), this event is still milsim oriented. Meaning that the trigger time will most likely be limited compared to Fran bars or Re dragon.
We Obviously want to make sure you all gonna have fun but at the same time, we want to emphasize on team work and fire control.
If any of you think they registered and should not have done it, PLEASE, email me back at blade@teamstrikers.com . We have about 80 players registered right now and we want to make sure all of them will have a great time.

like limiting the Kriegers to extremly low ammo, and no supply route. "One shot one kill". Or am I close? Lol. So if you have one high cap thats all you can use, about 250 rounds for us TM M-16 users. Yet 10 Standards? Which equals just under 700 rounds. Guess we guys that cant afford so many mag's will just have to be counting our shots. None the less should slim back on the Pray&Spray boys, I'll look forward to it, BIC will see you all there.
The Tropico's actually sound like The Lost Battalion. The American Battalion in WWI which was the only one to push forward and achieve their objectives, meaning their flanks were exposed and they were cut off for several days attempting to hold some hill on the &*& end of nowhere. They made a good movie on it.

While the numbers look good, I just heard today that Hardlock will not be there. for those that did not know yet, Hardlock is 50% of the organization of our events. Meaning, it only leaves me to organize all this, which mean I need to make sure you guys will have great missions without being too complicated for a one man show.
So yes, be prepared for specific missions but at the same time, I have no choice but to cut the days into several missions, can't be a full day mission....hoping you guys won't mind.

Weather update:
Looks like we will have a good day tomorrow: 60F with clouded sky, that should be perfect for playing.
Remember guys, it is not because it is raining in Cincinnati or Columbus that we have rain at Springfield.
Final reminders:
1. If you are below 18 yrs old, make sure your waiver is notorized before showing up.
2. If you already gave us a waiver throughout the year, you are covered.
3. The game start at 10am, don't show up at 9h50am please, that would force us to play without you for a while ;)

Anywhere we can find/dl/print-off a map of the field? (Not directions TO the field)
The one on the events page doesn't seem to come up.

That is the map we will use. During winter, I will modify few things so it easier to read all event details. I will also fix what you guys can't see for now (i.e. directions).

Blade,
Me, Tweek, and Andrew Weaver will most likely be there. I am sorry we registered so late. I was wondering if there is enough room to set up a tent like airsoft arms has at RD. Or if it isn't going to rain we won't set it up. Just wondering.

genocide,
no problem at all. Just make sure you guys register on the right team ;)
What kind of tent are you talking about ? sleeping tent? There will be a ton of place for that, don't worry.

I registered us all for the Tropicos on our team we set up on your site. We all have woodland and I read the rules and you said no side had a certain camo pattern. If I messed up just switch us. I was just trying to help even out the teams. But the tent is like the dining tents and ones you have to keep the sun and rain off your head.
strikers_blade
10-07-2005, 09:46 PM
genocide, I will switch you back on Kreigers as you would be the only team with woodland on tropicos.
And yes, you can setup your tent, no problem.

Well, all I can say is I had a blast today! Sometimes it was a little cold, but it wasn't too bad. Thanks go out to both teams for a great day. And by the way, there won't be any pictures (that I took) because my camera died......
Also, who ever borrowed my MP5K, sorry, I forgot your name, please PM me soon.

would like to say thank you to all of you that attended the event. It was obviously not we had in mind but for what I heard so far, you guys still had a great time. We had few incidents here and there but overall, no bad at all for having so many new faces.
If you have any comments to make but don't feel like giving them publicly, please email me at blade@teamstrikers.com .
Hoping to see at our future events.

Overall a great event for all the new players, and also a nice "fun game" for the veterans.
I would like to address one small issue I and my team encountered personally, there were two gentlemen in woodland camo on the Tropico team(non-woodland). As you can guess this created a terrible scenrio where we saw them, asked if woodland, were told yes, and then shot. I spoke with Blade and he fixed the problem right away though.
Kudos to the man in the ACU with the M14. (I spoke with you breifly at the chrono about our pistols.) You sir have one of the scariest rifles I have ever encountered, it was as quiet as a bolt action. And that means a lot coming from somone who has spent so much time and money supressing his own rifle. ;)
I would say the most fun I had all day was one of the little side games we played after the event with 97th Phantom and 75th Ranger in the parking lot. Two teams would line up in a single file line facing each other at opposite ends of the field. Only the pointman of each line could fire at the opposite team. When he/she was shot the next man would begin firing. I was pointman for the second round and well let's just say I ran out of BBs before targets. :D
Thanks to everyone who showed up I hope to see you all at another event very soon. And to all the new players who's first event this was I hope you are hooked for life!

Had a good time.
The gent with the M14 was my brother-in-law, goes by Miner on the roster. This was his first event, and my first event at Springfield. We took some pics from the vid camera, and I posted the Tropicos pic up on the gallery. Sorry no Kreigers pics; by the time we got the camera up Kreigers were deploying (actually you can see them walking into the woods behind the Tropicos). We also had a POV vid taken from the Tropicos side (Miner's helmet) in the afternoon that lasted ~10 minutes - from the briefing on the Take The Hill 1st round right thru to about a minute or two into gunfire, when the memory ran out.
Loved the cooler weather. Loved the mud. Some feedback:
- The first event, with the scattered objectives in dense woods seemed almost designed to create confusion and total intermixing of teams - which is what happened. I enjoyed the aspect of uncertainty, misidentification, and confusion, but I know from comments a decent percentage of folks there didn't enjoy that so much. Maybe some more walkthru on a per-team basis to set up some cross-squad organization/communication would have helped everyone's overall situational awareness. Just a thought.
- The simpler take-the-hill events in the afternoon allowed for a more organized battle and seemed alot easier to know where to move/shoot ("this is where we all need to go"/"this is what we all need to defend" and "shoot up there"/"shoot down there"). So it seemed easier to (learn to) work as a team across squads. Especially with the very similar camo configs of both teams that was nice to know which way to shoot/engage and not worry about being a friendly fire idiot.
Overall I enjoyed the day - looking forward to more. Striker - you did a great job, especially being solo on the bullhorn.

Hillslam,
You not got me confused!!! :p
Your friend had the camera, right?
you were running the M249. correct?
As I said above, I am only glad you guys got fun. I obviously noticed real quick in the event that milsim style would not work as we had more than 30% new guys in that field or in airsoft in general. I guess few organizational issues will have to be addressed before next event. Nothing major, just few things so it is easier for me and none of you or me loose time in last minutes changes. I can say one thing though, my "no sleep at all night" was useless since I scratched it all before the first mission
I just posted my own pictures on the event website but if you guys have any you would like to upload, feel free to do so.

Yes, Miner had the helmet cam. There were 3 M249s there that I counted: me and Grease Man (both on CA MkIIs), and Lone Gunman (TOP para version).

I had a great time. I was expecting an all-day mil-sim thing but I can't say that I was disappointed in the slightest.
Francios, thanks again for the upgrade--made a world of difference when I was bunkered down on multiple occasions...more specifically, the game when Kreigers defended the hill top and I ended up by myself on our left flank behind a wood pile. Just getting comfortable when I heard it..."CHARGE!!!!"

This was a great day. Thanks Frank. During the kreiger defense game, When our left flank took many KIAs and fell, Chapman and I made a hasty defense out of some sticks. That was awesome, we had some guys jump right infront of our guns. Those guys were sick as hell.
Chapman-We were awesome. I will look forward to some more Phalanx/BIC ownage. Once again, I would like to thank Francios for the event. Thanks strikers, Tick I wished the "newb team" could have made it to our posistion. Hehe.

wooh, where to start?
Alright Blade this was mine and my teams (BIC's) first event. To say we had a blast is an understatement. It was a little disappointing to go, but all good things must come to an end. I'll say the good things before the bad. I LOVED the first game, chaotic, confusing, down and dirty...it brought out as much about true war as you could without being in it. I am a writer and have aspects of becoming an novelist (genre is war novels) and I got ALOT of material from this match. The first game when I made my first 4 kills was a uplifting feeling. Mostly when were getting owned by Phalanx and were lucky to walk away with a kill a day. I really did like the second game emensly, it was intense. D-boy was right by me every step of the way. That feeling of hopelessness when you realize your going to die. Sorry I was thinking like a real soldier and when we abandoned that left flank (which was hell on earth) I just knew I wouldn't live for another 10 minutes. I remember falling back and D-boy throwing logs in front of me and making an imprevised fighting postion. Thanks man you saved my skin for atleast a few more minutes! I couldn't really remember much after that as I was digging a trench with my helmet before we got hit, but all in all it was amazing.
There were some instances of unsportmanship and cheating which need not be mentioned in public of course. But all in all blade BEST TIME I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! Better than 4 football games rolled into one, thanks for letting me and my team participate!
And by the way whoever was the guy that got hosed by Full auto fire near the bridge of the hill near the end when the left flank was about to be abandoned sorry. I wasn't really thinking when I charged you and hosed you. Of course after I did I realized how stupid it was to run out there out of cover but all in all LOVED IT!
Inferno
10-10-2005, 09:24 PM
I had a blast as usual. It was great playing along side Phalanx and B.I.C. in the first game. There was some confusion and frustration with the objectives, but thats life. It just added to it. I tried to pull Chapman out of fire when he got hit a couple times, but it wasn't happening. Both times I lasted about 3 seconds. Oh well, at least we were there to keep each other company for our five minutes. Scorpion, I loved co-leading the krieger team with you. Can't wait to play with you and the rest of Phalanx again. Oh, and Blade, I think we should make the civil war game a regular at the events. Now, who makes an airsoft musket? :D

Ya, Blade, I had a great time. Thanks for having us. I actually kinda enjoyed the turkey shoot, it gave me a chance to shoot some of my teamates, lol. Since someone brought up the turkey hunt I think I will comment. Yes it was fun, but when I made the decision to go first and run down the creek with tunnel vision things changed in my head when I encountered about 30+ bb's hitting me all at once. I did not expect there to be people on the other side of the creek. O well it was still fun for the first 30sec of the game.

Hey Hillslam,
Can you get Miner to post the video he took from his helmet cam? I would ask him myself, but I don't know if he's on the board. I think we all would all like to see what little bit he had. I know Data and I would like to see what went on after 30sec into the game since we both got shot.
Hillslam
10-12-2005, 07:51 AM
He's on the board as Miner69er. Its about 120megs right now and roughly 10minutes long. There's not much to see on it - its mainly the Tropicos getting briefed at the top of the hill for round one of "Take the Hill" and then us talking and alot of my back as we moved into position. There's only about 30secs or 1minute of the sounds of fighting, from our position on the far right we didn't catch anything on camera before the camera ran out of memory (raw format was 512megs, camera can have up to 2gigs memory but we didn't have the memory stick in it, it was on internal memory). Still getting to know the camera. That was the first time it'd been used (of course without rtfm). Its got alot of cool features and if Miner is inclined, future films could be longer with more combat-footage.
