This event was one of the best I've seen. So exciting, and fast pace. AWSOME!

After a long day of toil and a very heated hill top firefight the rebels came out on top!!!
I would like to thank both Brad and Brian of Airsoft Arms for hosting the event as well as Wallace for the Argo(is that correct?) and Loki for handling the Shop.
Though there was confusion over certain scenerios and rules at times overall everything seemed to flow and the end result was a couple of "fun games" at the end of the day with a very well deserved win for the Rebels.
Great job to the Strikers for putting up that fight at the end, and also thanks to everyone who showed up, it was well worth the $25. It was good to play a "mil-sim/fun game" for once.
See you all at the next Tangled Web.

Great first event! I'm glad that I came out to see what it was all about.
Great job darkstar and everyone else who helped run the event!
The weather could of been a bit better, but overall very good event!
"[Future thoughts for the tangled web series] - A little more clearification of objetives, and or specific respawn and or medic rules." Like Scorpion said, that needs some work, but this your first event there so I will allow you a little leeway this time :D :p.

Hello Everyone,
For starters, I want to thank everyone who participated in this weekend's Operation: Tangled Web. It was a lot of work, and not everything went exactly as planned, but overall I believe it turned out very well, despite the rain, heat and humidity. I want to thank everyone for their patience, understanding, and tolerance of the rainy conditions. I'd like to thank all the players who joined us today who are new to airsoft and I hope we made a great impression and hope that they will come back again for more fun in the future.
Of course, bringing a game like this takes the hard work of several people, and I would like to thank Locutus for his assistance in helping with the flow of the missions, as well as some important story input. I'd like to thank Violator for helping out with the registration process and getting your guns properly chronoed for the game. And, I'd also like to thank Nitrous and Loki for their help in setting up several of the mission objectives as well.
I would also like to thank UA-312 (aka. sig552) for sparking the field owner's interest in airsoft, and finally I would like to thank Gary Gould, the owner of Red Dragon Paintball, for giving us this first chance at introducing airsoft to a new field! He was very enthusiastic in helping us prepare the field for this event, and I was there helping clear out downed trees and clearing paths to make more parts of the field more accessible and interesting to play in. I would like everyone to please send out your thanks to Gary and Kathy for their great hospitality and also for providing us with a great lunch! I was very happy with the way things turned out today and look forward to working with Gary to bring the airsoft community more great events in the future!
I'd like to open the tread to all your comments and suggestions. We want to get your feedback on what you liked and what you didn't? Were there things you liked about the field? Were there things you didn't? What kinds of airsoft events, missions, structures, etc, would you like to see here in the future? Were your mission objectives clearly explained to avoid confusion? Were there mission objectives that you felt were unreasonable or unrealistic? We want your feedback, and I know Gary will be listening. If things continue to go well, Gary has expressed his interest in providing us with with additional buildings, bunkers, bridges and whatever we can dream up (within reason). I'm sure that with the support of the airsoft community, this field will continue to grow and become a truly great place to play.
I would also like to once again address a few specific items as well. First off, I cannot stress enough the importance of keeping your goggles on at all times when you are in the playing area. I am more than sympathetic of the extreme fogging that many of you experienced, however if you ever find yourself in a situation where you're having goggle problems, DO NOT take your goggles off. If you need, please ask for assistance to get to a safe place were you can take care of the problem. Removing your goggles during play can create a dangerous situation not only for yourself, but for other players as well. We want to see everyone is safe and having fun, so please be responsible!
I was also informed that there were a few yelling matches, and a couple of people said that there were players that weren't calling their hits. We know that this is the nature of airsoft, but just remember "When in doubt, call out!". We want the airsoft experience to be fun for everyone, and realize that adrenaline can often get in the way. If you think you got someone one, just ask them later in the day. We like to see players opening dialogs in situations like this and work things out. This perspective opens the door for greater understanding for everyone, and will hopefully reduce tensions for anyone in this kind of situation.
Overall though, I was pleased that there were no major issues during the course of the day, other than a few goggle issues. If I'm on your back about keeping your goggles on, just remember I want you to keep your eyes so that you'll be able to see well enough to mke it to the next event!
Again, thanks to everyone for the great day, and keep the feedback coming! We hope to see you soon at the next Tanged Web event!
Darkstar out!

one of the best events i have ever gone to, the downed pilot mission alone was worth the twenty five bucks can't wait for the next event in this series

I had a great time playing in this event. I want to emphasize how much work Darkstar and Locutus (Brad & Brian respectively) put into this event. These things take hours and hours of preparation, and plenty of sleep-loss is involved in that process as these two can attest to.
With that said, I thought this was one of the best organized events I've ever been to. Even though there was downtime in between missions, the fact that there were clearly defined missions for both sides four separate times throughout the day puts this event ahead of many of the others I've been to. The addition of props for every single mission for both sides really added to realism and excitement. Well done with that (poor downed pilot lost his head in the mix)!
The rain definitely detracted from what could have been, but we all made the best of the situation and it was still better than any operation I've been too.
With regards to the field, I love it (except when its so muddy you almost break your neck sliding down hills!). Perhaps an addition to the field that Gary might make is laying some gravel down where cars enter and depart. Also maybe adding in a bridge on the right side of the field could make things interesting. With regards to the scenarios it always felt like the gray team had to attack and the brown defended. This was probably not always the case, but at the beginning of the game it felt this way. Perhaps for the next game a comm plan should be set up (radio channels, designated radio men per squad, and a commander for the overall teams). I think a commander for each team is a necessary addition to these scenarios.
Anyway, that sums up my thoughts for now. Great event, good job Locutus and Darkstar, and it was definitely good to see Wallace make it to an event. The 'theatrical deaths' on his part were quite hilarious to see.

Just a small side note on the field it would be nice to find a way to keep those bridges less slick when muddy and wet.
I for one can attest to how bad it was, and anyone who say me bite the ground can also. I fell at teh base of the ramp to the left bridhe before our(Rebel/Silver team) Base and then slide on my butt up the ramp to the bridge itself. All while laughing and screaming at the same time.
That aside there is only one other area I saw that was rather "one-sided" was the far back corner of the river at the edge of the field. Myself, Violator and 4 others could do nothing to advance due to only 3 people in two bunkers that over looked that whole area.
If there was a way to clear out and install a bunker on our side of the river it would help in "keep it fair" for either side assaulting that part of the river.
[Kudos to Violator and Oldschool and whomever else was with them that brought back the "bomb box" in the last 40 seconds of the fourth game, that was Incredible.

I think everyone enjoyed the weather....hahaha. The objectives/missions for the brown team was pretty confusing at times, the maps(playboys haha) were completly destroyed in the rain and were hard to read in the first place, i remember the first game we held the wrong objective with was really about 1 minute behinde us. Other than the weather, confusion at times, and the misunderstandings of being hit, the games went great. The field was excellent, the only thing that i thought was unfair was the (silver) team had way more of a fortified base and cover than the (brown) team. Also there needs to be another bridge on the other side of the one that is already up. The missions were great with the exception of of confusion. And i think i speak for all of us on the brown team when i say this, how the hell did the silver team get the pilot so fast?! haha damn good job guys...THANKS EVERYONE

Also one last thing...The armbands were extremly difficult to notice, EX: Rainy mission, team mate has brown armbad with camo on, witch makes it impossible to see it with foggy googles, then he has his sleeves rolled up to resemble a white armband, so he takes friendly fire....haha we need better colored armbands....who ever i shot sorry :(

This was the best OP I've ever been to IMHO. Huge thanks to all the organizers who could make this happen. I'm very much looking forward to the next event in the Tangled Web series. It was a great honor to lead the rebels into victory on several missions. The downed pilot mission was amazing, and so was the following mission in which we held them back from the base. It was extremely good teamwork, and I'd like to thank again all those who fought for the rebels and took us to victory.
The 2nd mission in which Scorpion lead that blitz ambush on the airport was simply amazing. The defenders were taken over by two full squads and then the fight was taken right up and into that red base. It was amazing.
Props to whoever took me hostage. We had a way of determining allies be saying "red" and waiting for them to say "rover". Well, myself and sig552 found a squad and couldn't determine their side, so called out "red" and heard back "rover", so we advanced to them. Turns out they were enemy, and took me hostage in a very civil way. They were as shocked to see me as I was to see them, and it turns out they never said "rover." So somewhere close by was a friendly squad. lol.
The teamwork displayed in the downed pilot (3rd) mission was amazing, and thanks again to PointMan for carrying that 200+ lb dummy by himself over a great distance:p . Everyone banded together at the end to drag that dummy UP the hill while the enemy was right behind us and gaining. The other squad lead by Scorpion was able to retrieve the satellite and be back in time to lend firepower to cover us taking the dummy back. The pilot didn't make it back clothed or in one piece, but it was quite a trip! :D
Hearing the phrases "Hold the line!" and "Affix bayonets!" during the (4th) base defending mission was great. Once again I cannot stress how well you guys banded together to hold the line. It was the best display of teamwork I've ever seen. The celebration after holding them back, literally counting down the minutes, was great.
In closing, it was quite an awesome event. Lots of laughs and great displays of teamwork. This is definitely a well put on event, and I look forward to the next event of the series. Hope to see all of you there again. Can't wait to see some of those pics taken, and I'll have mine uploaded within a couple days.
edit: I also would like to give props to Violator, Oldschool, and that squad that brought the "bomb box" back in the last couple seconds of that game. That was completely awesome.
Also, note to self- Buy waterproof map case.

The armbands were kind of a side effect of previous complaints. No one wanted bright colored armbands, because they didn't blend too well.
Out of the few times I got to play, I had a blast. My thanks to the Strikers to not letting me get shot in the grill. Many thanks to Wallace for letting me take one of the Systema PTWS into the field.
There were a few incidents of people repeatedly taking off their eye protection in the middle of the game, but everyone is already aware of this. Just remember guys: Your eyes aren't replaceable.

Tangled Web was truly a great event. Props to all who made it possible- Brad, Loki, Locutus, Violater.... you guys did wonderful job. I enjoyed all of the senarios and here is what I
would like to see in the future.
1. Some of the trails could be de-brushed and cleared out because although we were lucky that only a couple people tripped and those who did were not seriously injured.
2. Better maps (laminated maybe?) and more/better handouts to more clearly define and illustrate the objectives.
Those are what I think are nessesary, here is what I think would be nice.
1. A senario in which only the rebel/silver side of the field is used and brown has to assualt the silver base.
2. A commander/ Team Leader.
And a idea that will probably get swatted down like a crippled fly.
Putting this (http://www.dickblick.com/zz014/09/)
paint on everyones bdu's in the form of either lots of small circles or one big circle on the chest and back. I think that it would totally eliminate TKing at the sacrifice of being able to sneak or hide.
Overall it was tons of fun and i would definately show up for a sequel.

I thought we should have made better use of the speed ball field and the fortified hill. We should have had more scenarios were we attacked the others base and had more heavy assualts. I also think that more cover should be made available between the bases and there should be more then one bridge across the stream near were the brown base was. When we played the last few games at the end where we did the "attack the hill" scenarious with wallace was a blast, and I think we should incorporate it into the next tangleweb/event at red dragon paintball. Just my $.02

I lead squad 1 (which it says you were on in the roster), and I don't quite remember you. Squad 1 was myself, PointMan, sig552, KilledLots, and 2 others from squad 3 (sorry, I didn't catch your guys names). The other members went to Demo. Were you in Demo with Oldschool?
After/ during 2nd game Wallace (whom I might add is one of the coolest men to walk the planet) appointed me Team Leader. I knew Scorpion could control his squad, but I'm not sure who was 2nd squads leader though. I didn't get much chance to talk to 2nd squad beyond a 1 to 1 conversation with individuals. During the 3rd game (Downed pilot) I don't think anyone needed to be told what to do, as everyone gathered around for briefing and either decided to be on Scorpions satellite-finding squad or the pilot-retrieveing squad lead by myself. I think Wallace and Scorpion lead the advancing squad in the final game.
Overall, I didn't see any weekness in team leadership, but that was just me. The squads were lead by thier own squad leader, and the squad leaders met for briefing to decide what had to be done in an intelligent manner.
Well just my two cents on the event was that it went very well, I think there were a few things that need to be worked out but from what I understand with very few people to plan and get things worked out it ran well! Every other compliment and gripe have been posted so can't say much more, but i'm curious if we'll see the pics from the event?

Regarding that mad dash in the 4th scenario with the ammo box, the third guy was somebody that Lone Gunman brought along in his truck to the event and loaned some gear to. I can't remember his name, and I know he's not on AirsoftOhio. Perhaps Lone Gunman can provide that information. But anyway, credit must be given to him, because it was he who actually returned the box to the base. I got hit by a striker not a 150 yards from the base. Oldschool picked up the box, ran forward and got hit 50 yards further. This last guy was the one who ran it through heavy fire at the end. Mad kudos to him but it was hella fun getting the box. We were able to infiltrate enemy lines by inserting in the creek at a different place. Wallace was hit early on, and our four man squad was reduced to three - Oldschool stayed behind to watch our back at the creek, and then I went with the guy who eventually returned it and obtained the objective.
I must admit it was funny seeing almost the entire grey team standing at the base dead. I of course walked in dead because the brown team was everywhere. Good job to the brown team, it must have been hell taking those hills.
edit: scorpion you should consider being a sniper - nice shooting in scenario 1 at the creek bed.

First off cheers to you for holding there so long and second...I thought about taking the sniper route, but after seeing that there isn't much shooting done with snipers I chose to train as hard as I could...to hunt them. ;)
And as you saw it was all worth it, I thank you for the compliment and can't wait to see you at the next event Violator.

I liked it.
As an old event organiser I think this one went really well for a first time.
You have to understand setting up a sucessfull senario on a field you don't know is realy hard to get right. Kudos to you guys.
Hopefully future events will get better and better as the organisers figure out the enviroment and get a sweet field setup.
Keep up the good work.

This was actually the main objective in Scenario 5.... :(
I want to thank everyone who came out and stayed through the miserble weather. Next time we will definately have laminated maps (with more landmarks so you have a better idea where you are at).
I apologize for some of the long delays between games. Since we had never actually played at that field, we sort of underestimated how long it was going to take to setup some of the objectives and the dang incessant downpour just made things worse.
The rain also caused us to change or drop some of our scenarios that included smoke bombs, so inbetween missions we had to come up with replacement missions or alternate ways to carry them out which took extra time.
Congrats to the Neo Utopistan forces, after the first mission you guys really took over.
Stay tuned for updates, I hear there was a Utopistan Times reporter present at the event. ;)

I actually liked the rain a lot. It was cold, cold rain. :)
It made the field like Vietnam.
Besides, everyone got dried off pretty quickly. That warm lunch break dried everyone off.

The SAW was telling me to!!!!
Hey evryone, had a blast. I had no complaints execpt for the rain, and one jerk who after I called hit and tried to put on my red rag continued to fire. After yelling hit 6 or 7 more times and adding "damn it" to the mix he told me to move. As if there was anyone else he could hit. I was the only one able to be shot not like he had another shot. I did not notice him after that. I know he was wearing tiger stripe and a black vest. I certainly hope it was not a Striker. Over the past few years my respect for them has grown considerably. I would hate to see someone stain the teams honor. Although I was pretty upset at the time, I understand overshooting is sometimes a fire discipline problem, so I am OK.
To Violator , the guy who carried the box the rest of the way after Oldschool got shot was one of my buddies, Kurt. He is old time paintballer like me. I knew he would be good at airsoft as well. He had a great time and will be back. He is pretty Gun Ho.

Even though i left after the 3rd mission ( i had to most of you saw the huge hole in my pants i was close to losing my pride) i had a great time. That dummy in the down pilot mission was way heavier then i thought. That was one intense moment the second i pulled that dummy into the creek bed it was like both sides opened up and all i was hearing was alot of freaking bbs flying over my head. Thanks to brad and everyone else for putting this together.
