I think AO should have an IRC channel. This would help people that are in need of a quick response without having to post and worry about searching etc. I think this would be a good idea, as I could of used it a little while ago. What do you guys think?

Why does Airsoft Ohio have to host it? There are several Airsoft Chat services at other sites. Most of us already have our airsoft buddies on AIM, ICQ, MSN, or Yahoo. This prevents AO admin from having to host another service, which would deplete more bandwidth.

This has been what AO Admin has stated in the past, and what I was getting at in the "Off Topic" thread, which some of you chose to have removed.

Believe it or not, but AO Admin and Mods have better things to do than babysit, which is what would be required in a chat room. If you want to chat about airsoft, download AIM or some other IM service.

Take it how you will. There's nothing wrong with AO as-is.

You are certainly welcome to create your own IRC channel, people have done it several times in the past, but there was never anyone on it, so they just died out each time.

Yea, they die out. I suggest you just use aim. Get a list of every screename of people who you belive know alot about airsoft and there you go. Simple as that.

Actually, it doesn't eat up bandwidth to host an IRC channel on an existing server, but if you run your own server then yes it does eat up bandwidth.
