This was one hell of a great day.
A big thanks to Oldschool and Rampage For hosting it.
Thank you Brad and Brian at Airsoftarms for coming down to supply us all day.
I think that was the best cqb match of the life time.
That was great.
Tell us when the next other Event happens.

Great time. Very cool place to play.

I think I was shot more in a single 15 second period than I have been my whole entire airsoft career. Thanks to the guys who had the superior positions to only light me up from the chest down.

Francois - what can I say, we gave it our best. However, within 3 to 5 seconds of us hooking up to move in, I was dead - all 6 times we tried it  The 7th time I was shot before we even tried (when we doubled back on iP on the 4th floor)

Hats off to the dude covering the stairwell (stradling the handrails with his feet) I was already dead coming from the other direction, but that was a kill zone if I ever saw one.

I am definitely looking forward to more events at that field!

Thanks to OldSchool and the rest of the gang who put the event together.

yup, it was a great day. i was a little cold at first, but i sure am glad airsoftarms was there so i could buy some gloves. cant wait until the next time we get to play there.

macdaddy, i was in a lot of pain after that firefight at the end of the first bomb scenario. every single one of their shots hit below the belt within inches of some pretty important stuff, but they did a good job covering that stairwell...ill give that to them. i have a few welts too if anyone wants to see them.

The game was definately fun!

There was some confusion as to the legality of certain things, but hopefully next time we play it will be sorted out. (IE: blockading doors, and what can and can't be used as cover.)

But the place is just awesome, playing in an abandoned warehouse is fun, and if it wasn't in a residential area, or if there was/is (hopefully) a way to tell the people we're playing there we could have a much better time. (IE: We could come in from outside, use the fire escape (I used it and the kids across the street went crazy, I tried to explain it was a fake gun, even took the battery out and showed them, but I'm still not sure what the outcome of that was.))

The action is close, fierce, and fuuuunnnn. Clearing rooms was crazy and a lot of close action and painful (but fun) outs where called. Stairs are crazy, hopefully airsoft grenades will be available soon. I wouldn't mind spending an extra 5 dollars a game so I can clear out some rooms or stairwells.

The place has a lot of nooks and crannies and I don't think I even got to see it all, it's pretty huge and still claustiphobic at the same time.

Hopefully the game next time will be better.

Organization was pretty good this time, but I think it could be better. (No offense meant oldschool). But I do understand this was the first game there, so that was probably a big part of it.

Great field though, hopefully it will be opened up more. I could see some really nice scenarios going on there. The one thing that needs to be done though is for the place to be cleaned up if there is more play there. I don't know how but I'm sure there would be a way. Either through volunteers or something. It was kinda messy up there, but it IS an abandoned...factory, warehouse?

Overall, A+ gaming though, fun as hell!

PS:

Francois you're awesome.

We just got back a little bit ago, the drive there and back to Toledo was tough, (especially on no sleep) but it was worth it. Thanks for putting this on, and congrats on scoring such a nice CQB area to have games at! We will definitely try to come back again as soon as we have a chance to. Some really intense firefights we had today.

I'd like to say thank you to Oldschool for this event. This building has definately a lot of potential and I'm sure my fellow Strikers teammate would have loved to be there.

Overall good organization. Perhaps more safety would have been better (i.e people removing their goggle in the field, people with the finger on the trigger while mag in the gun in the staging) . Using artefacts to block an entry or just to move with should have been avoided, thanks Oldschool for the reminder between the missions.

I heard few complains about blind firing but I guess with such rooms and adrenalin rush, it is hard to control yourself.

If this building has to become an officiial CQB place for AO, I would strongly recommend some volunteer to re-organize the building (if possible of course). There is several rooms that could take some chairs and desks, which would make the action even more intense and would also avoid people using pile of chairs to bunker down.
To conclude, I like my experience and with few modification here and there, this field would be a great place to play.

before leaving, I would like to apologize to all of you for my way to "tell you" what to do. I honestly didn't plan it but I fell sad to see people dying one by one or take forever to move in. It seems like it help once in a while after the little training but above all, I just wanted to make sure you guys would enjoy a little more to play such CQB.

note1: Great Job MacDaddy and IP, working as a squad was a pleasure, even if you guys got stuck with me :D

note2: the guy with the blue 4x4 (you know who you are :p ), very good job to step up. You might have get killed on the 4th floor but at least, you did not hesitate to move out.

note3; The guy with the APS2, email me for your gun, I will tell you what is going on

note4; Who ever kept the kitchen timer, please give it back to MacDaddy when you will have a chance.

Thank you all for this good event and I will do my best to bring more Strikers next time.

Having you lead us was not at all bad, at least not to me. You had way more experience then most of us there (at least me) and you helped a lot as far as room clearing and such went.

That was the most intense day of airsoft i have ever had. I would like to thank everyone who had a part in putting this thing on. And i'll have to agree that a little clean up would be nice, mainly because i kneeled on a piece of glass  . Maybe ill just bring knee pads next time. I would also like to congratulate the players. Everyone seemed to be playing fair, and having fun. Those organizers have earned my kudos.

GREAT GAME!

me and all my teammates absolutely loved the field. Being able to go out on the roof was awesome

Thank you to the organizers who setup up this event. it was a great day.

i do think this place needs to be cleaned up though. it wasnt fun to come in from the roof or go out and have to step on that glass because it gave away your position. And i would suggest a light of some sort in the main staircase. It is extremely hard to get down those without a flash light.

the night game was awesome though! standing behind the tables and shotoing at the first flashlight that popped up down the hall was awesome. we should have had some kind of signal though because we just killed each other on our team lol.

Blade dont feel bad about it because if you wouldnt have taken control no one else would have and we would have never taken some of the rooms.

Thanks again to the organizers for such a great day!

snipe, there was a working light in the main staircase. when me and the iP guys were waiting for the bad guys to come up the stairs to touch the latter we found a light switch outside of the 3rd floor door. we decided it was best to leave it off at that point because it would give away our positions. the light switch turned on three or so light bulbs spread out in the staircase.

I had a great time. It was my second event overall, and I give it two thumbs WAY up. I was the guy with the M733 Commando with Red Dot and the laser on the front, just incase none of you know me (Shane).

Anyways, I did take some pictures at the event with my digital camera, it is mostly of me and the guys that came down with me, but there are some I took of groups standing around in the staging area. I also got a video which is quite funny, and if any of you haven't seen it, then I won't spoil it for you!

I am going to post them on a website and then I will post the link on here. Look for it tommorrow.

I have to agree with Blade, and would like to quote "To conclude, I like my experience and with few modification here and there, this field would be a great place to play."

Good game guys.

man what a good time. that was almost even better than irene 2. but that was really a different type of game. but this was a truely different experience of CQB. seeing that irene was CQB and outdoors this was something that scared me even more than the room clearing at irene.

thanks to oldschool, and all the people that organized this. you have my garuntee to try and be there every time that you have one of these games.

thanks to blade for taking the time and helping the novice type people, and even me, on the propper ways of playing CQB  just kidding blade. and i especially thank you for that wonderful tip of me running into the room by myself, no other help, on the 5th floor, about putting my gun down but i had to get it around the door.
and then of corse you going out saying you were dead, and then running out guns blazzing and hope that people would follow. DIDN'T WORK.

over all i didn't see anyone cheating personally. so i had a very memorabe time. just with that small amount of people i don't think that we need to have all 5 floors open for people to use.

thanks again

p90killer

oh but wait i used an M4

Oldschool, one thing I would to see banned for future events is going out of the building. Main reason beain that people from the street could see us but the most important one is players shooting each other...between the cars. I know my car doesn't worth 30k$ but that doesn't mean finding bbs mark on my hood would have made me a very very mad guy. The other thing is climbing the ladder (outside) is also a big risk of injury so you might want to consider this high casualty risk.

;)

thanks blade in the future we will have just indoor play with one other way in from the back out of site, as you know we learn as we go but it will better organized and little more rules my goal is to have fun and keep everyone safe also.i only got to play one game as i took a group of guys and help them clear a room as we worked up to the 4th floor.thanx to aleisa for letting me use her mp5 seeing how all i had was carrying a m203 which got 2 guys on the stairs you know who you are lol.in all thanx to everyone for coming oldschool

P90Killer, are you talking about the last shot on the 4th floor when I shot Nosebuckle??? LOL, yeah, those 2 guys needed some help ;)

Agent47, I used most of my day telling people little trick here and there and most of the time, I was either giving their position away (i.e telling the ennemy they would come a specific way) or telling them how the ennemy was placed. So not really cheating if you ask me :D

P90killer
12-19-2004, 10:37 PM
yeah blade was really just trying to help them. since i was the doorman and i had already gotten shot, but blade was there as a great helping hand for the people that haven't experienced CQB before.

it was more of a joke than cheating. P90killer was describing the scenario when one team had to fight through the building and touch the ladder to the roof on the 4th floor. Blade was helping the team attempting to touch the ladder. He found that a staunch defense was employed to the only entrace to the 4th floor and kinda ducked into the stairwell and opened up on me (knowing i was behind the door). This was an attempt, i assume, to lead an all-out charge into the room.

Thanks to Oldschool for finding such a great CQB building and putting on a spectacular 'event'. I think implementing some of the suggestions anad getting some more people out will result in great future events.

I have a thought about the whole car thing. i think we should have to park in the back of the building. the roof is a very vital area it could tell the result of the mission. and it would also be alot easier to bring all the gear in through the garage door than through the front. and i would suggest a ladder or two to get onto the roof because "shimmying" n that wall is probably kinda dangeous.

Lynx
12-20-2004, 11:32 PM
I think many people would agree with me that probably the coolest most unique thing about this place was that it was allowed to use the external fire escape staircase, and the several levels of roof on the building. If people are worried about their cars, then maybe parking in the back would be better. Perhaps to keep neighbors from becoming too alarmed, some large signs could be posted explaining that what is going on does not involve real firearms etc. Just an idea. It just would be unfortunate if from now on it was dissalowed to use those most intersting aspects of the building.

CrAzY CaNuCk
12-21-2004, 12:58 AM
The only problem with the fire escape/roof is safety. Even if you think you have the best balance in the world, there is always the possibility of falling off. That would be bad.

Not that being inside was any safer, with broken glass all over the floors! ;)

ok we are shooting for another game in jan. airsoft arms will be there as well to supply all your airsoft needs.we will have much better time as i have listen to lots of ideals, and know what has to be done.keep in mind it takes a lot of work to host a game have you ever cleaned 100,000 sq ft building lol, but really things will be much better as games go on.we will also have a team games also team against team and so on keep watching for all the action to come.and if any one has pics please post them for my camera got lost sorry guys.thanx oldschool

I have to agree that the roof and fire escape should be off limits for public games. A lot of minors attended the game last weekend, and I don't even want to think about someone falling off the roof.

If fire fight were to break out on the roof, it could very easily happen. What is one of the first thing someone does if someone opens fire on them when they are in the open? They back up to try and get out of range.

And of course there are the places where you might fall just trying to cross different portions of the roof.

Otherwise, great game and great field oldschool. Thanks for finding it!

MacDaddy
12-21-2004, 10:41 AM
Playing on the roof is a VERY, VERY bad idea in my opinion.

First concern is safety - falling off or through the roof is likely to result in a fatality or very serious injury. The roof is typically the weakest part of any structure due to the abuse it receives from the weather. It is old(er) and likely was not designed to hold several people in one spot - and even if it was designed that way, I would bet that it is in a much weaker condition than when it was built. All I can say is that I'm not going to bet my life on that roof holding me up.

Second concern is that the roof is highly visable by the public. Passer-bys on 562 can see the building. We are just asking for trouble if we make these guns and ourselves visable to the public.

Oldschool - I beg you to place the roof off-limits for future events. There is TONS of room inside that place to play and provide PLENTY of action WITHOUT placing any individuals or our sport at risk.

Not to be a pain about this, but I feel so strongly about the issue that I will not attend another event there unless the roof is off-limits - and believe me, I really, really want to play there again. Safety and common sense have to come first.

oldschool
12-21-2004, 02:48 PM
no worries guys i agree there will be no more roof to who liked it sorry, but saftey first and the sport is to grow without problems . as i said before i am going to change some things it was the first time there, and we did learn alot so this will be a better place next time. thanx oldschool

diaangel
12-21-2004, 03:13 PM
Is using the fire escape still allowed? What about that kind of secondary roof that you dont have to climb to get to just have to go out the window on the highest floor?

strikers_blade
12-21-2004, 08:16 PM
Thank you Oldschool, I was about to fully support MacDaddy on his decision. Afterall, why risking to loose such building ;)

McAnderson
12-21-2004, 08:19 PM
diaangel, what i think oldschool and the others are implying is that they dont want anyone playing to go into the public view with weapons that look like real firearms.

all it takes for us to never play again, is one of those soccer moms who dont like guns going to the politicians and tell them that they could have gotten shot driving down the highway by one of us. then when that happens, a crap load of badness happens to the airsoft community as a whole.

so my best bet would be to stay away from going outside of the "designated" areas, what ever the event holder sets those to be.

but thats my .02

peace
anderson

If you could please not schedule the game on January 22 that would be excellent. Mainly because that is an ohio SAT 1 and 2 testing day so many of us high schoolers must take this test, thus lowering the amount of people attending your event.:D

If you would like oldschool, Me and the people I would come with for the next event could come a hour or two early and help clean up the glass and such. I'm sure a few other people wouldnt mind doing the same thing.

Actually, I didn't see any glass from the roof. I just saw glass because near the pink stairs there was a little hallway, and in it was this glass window that didn't really have a purpose, maybe to cover something in the past...

Anyways, when I was running around with my squad, the leader happened to run into it, and glass went all over the floor and we ended up having to step on it every time we went to the pink stairs.

I did hear glass breaking in the middle of the day also, but I dont know what that was from (maybe the roof?)

Heard that too, but I was downstairs at the time and it wasn't anyone I was with.

Still, I would just want to know why someone would break out a window after specific instructions not to. I'm sure you'd have to physically break it because the guns were at or below (most below, by far) 350 fps, so someone would have had to purposely break it.

Unless it was someone outside that broke it? (Don't know how or why anyone outside would though...)

Lynx
12-23-2004, 08:05 PM
The only thing that I saw break was some of the fluorescent lights in the pink stairs area. Perhaps some sheets of plexiglass could be installed there to protect them for the future.

To solve the glass argument, the glass on the roof was there before anyone ever played. I don't know what busted it out, but it was there. The only glass broken was a light.. Also NO MORE ROOF, so there is no need to argue about the glass on the roof. Reason why no more roof, someone falls, gets hurt, its on me and the rest of the event holders. I know the roof was awesome, but we can't play due to safety reasons.. Sorry...
Thanks OldSchool

To follow up on what Doug (Oldschool) had posted regarding the glass issue - the glass was broken during a team game weeks prior to that event. I was all over the warehouse, and did not witness any vandolism whatsoever. The door kicking issue - it was a gray area all day, the only thing specified was to not kick in LOCKED doors - no one, which is partially my team's (Force 21) fault, clarified as to whether or not we could force open doors already ajar, or being held shut by the enemy. I heard several complaints about blind firing, and I am totally for blind firing. When the action is that intense, at that close, sometimes the only way for forward advancement is to blind fire, then move.

As for the chrono issue, I would like to see more enforcement on having everyone's gun chronoed - my scope was shot out at 20 plus feet, and I personally do not know of a gun under 350 fps. that can do such an act. My dad has an M16 that shoots well above 400 fps, so he brought our stock MP5Navy instead - I think some others should've made the appropriate sacrifices as well.

As to the cleanliness of the warehouse - I feel that the more obstacles, the better. The glass could be cleaned up, and myself and the rest of my team will see to that. As for chairs / desks / broken doors - I think the more cluttered the better, it makes for a more intense firefight. It'd be rather pointless with barren rooms, wouldn't you think?

As for the roof issue - I strongly agree that it should be off limits to public games, for there are nuggets there. The fire escape, once the snow and ice clears away, I feel should stay playable. I've walked it from roof to the ground floor, and it is structurally sound, meaning it has at least 3 ft high rails encompassing its entirety. But, all of this will be ultimately up to Doug to call, seeing as how he runs the joint, and I'll respect his decision either way.

Me and the rest of Norwood's team, Force 21, look forward to seeing everyone and then some, at the next event. Everyone that came - thanks for providing adequate targets, and see ya again next time!

ok then maybe they can start down stairs and like work their way up to the top level and you can have hostiages and stuff..

Scorpion
12-26-2004, 11:07 AM
ok well maybe instead of coming in from the roof they can storm the building and clear rooms like that have like hostiages and a swat team.

please read up on the topic before posting. if you had read but 1 page before you'd see the full situation. we can't have ANYONE OUTSIDE the building due to the fact that we look very scary to the average person outside the building. the point of this was to lock down the building to almost prison state**.

** - keep everyone inside or out of view of the general public since we don't want to attract attention to ourselves and have someone call the police to check on us.
