the TM M4 SIR is gonna have trouble with retailers in the U.S most likley dealing with Gov't issues.
CA36 looks pretty hot .. maybe shouldve waited on my G36.
Not sure what a G18 is.:p
Vas..I know of a site that had tons of upcoming guns from Tokyo Marui and other manufactures but I never added it to my favorites..i'll search around and try to see if i could find it.

What problems would the M4sir have? The M4RIS doesnt have any more issues than any other AEG when it comes to getting into the country.

;)
That's all I know of .. I know there are a lot of other guns too coming out .. shotguns and a lot of pistols .. don't know the names though.
Sp00n, I remember I read it somewhere and a little finding, I found where I heard that from. I hope I didn't read it wrong but i doubt i did .. it was from Darkstar a whiles back..
Due to certain copyright and trade dress laws in the US, it is doubtful the S-System M4 will be available to the US Market. The company who makes the real SIR rail that is on the Tokyo Marui rifle has already been sending out letters to retailers in the United States, stating that they will sue if anyone sells the replicas of the SIR rail system. So far, they have directly targeted ICS.
In light of getting sued, I doubt many retailers will carry the S-System rifles, but keep posted, things are still not all hammered out.

So I take it no one has heard of a AEG for the L85-A1/A2? If so it's a shame that they don't make one.

That's pretty cool! I just wish it wasn't a limited run on them. By the time i had the $350 plus the shipping they'd be gone more than likely.

I really wish TM or someone else would mass produce the L85-A1/A2 in the AEG so the price would be a little lower.
GeneralPatton
12-02-2004, 11:29 PM
Well if you think about it, $350 ain't bad. Does that one come with the full metal cuz I know one version of that is metal? ..unless thats the $700 one. If it is $350, then thats a deal since most Marui plastic ones base around $230.

Because it's never been 100% confirmed.
Also, the SIR will have problems because unlike the RIS, the SIR is a patten of a single company - thus when a US retailer tries to sell them, they can get sued.

I highly doubt that could hold up in court. Not a lawyer or anything but from my understanding, as long as the design is slightly different then you can't say they're stealing your patents. They are calling it the "S-System" rather than SIR, so i dont see any problems there either.
Maybe DarkStar or Locutus could clear this up. Apparently the makers of the SIR system are sending letters out to US retailers warning them that if they stock/carry this m4 - that they will sue.
I dunno, but thats what I was told.

well as i said .. the quote above was quoted from Darkstar but I too would like to know more. Maybe the design isn't different at all?

The new Marui S-System will likely be unreleasable in the United States as ARMS, Inc owns the patent for their SIR rail system for real M4 rifles. They have already sent out documents to us and other US retailers detailing their plans to sue based on sale of the ICS SIR rail system and the replica of the ARMS flip up sight. I would surmise that they would threaten to do the same once the Marui S-System is release because the S-System appears to be identical to the ARMS SIR, at least at first glance. While I have yet to contact ARMS regarding the Marui S-System rifle, I doubt that Marui has a license to violate ARMS, Inc's trade dress.
And with the new trade dress laws that are now on the books, I think ARMS will have a strong case against anyone who imports this gun.
I hope I've shed some light on the this subject!
Darkstar out.

What about Colt, HK, Sig Sauer etc. Does TM have a license from all those companys? They would have to, so whats the big deal about getting a license from ARMS?

In meetings I've have with industry higher-ups, I was told that Tokyo Marui does have licenses to produce replica guns in Japan ONLY, and those licenses include exclusive agreements from the respective firearms manufacturers of the replicas Marui makes. Products that are exported from Japan are excluded from those trademark agreements and there have been some companies who've gotten upset with Marui as to the export of their products. This is one of the reasons Marui does not with to recognize the US market, because if they did, Colt and other companies would get even madder at them. Colt and other real firearms manufacturers don't want replica firearms in a country in which it is legal to own real firearms (at least thats the buzz I've been hearing). Its just the way they work I guess.
The only way Marui gets around export is that they sell to a distributor, who then can ship anywhere they want. Marui can say "Whaaa?? They're shipping our guns to other countries??? Oh No!!!", and then do nothing. (Okay, bad representation of what they might say, but I'm trying).
Fact is, they do have the licenses. I have personally heard it from the translator of one of largest airsoft companies in the industry.
Darkstar out.

If Colt,H&K,and others would get pissed off then why don't they get into the airsoft buisness themselves if they're so conserend about it? I'm sure if they did there would be room in the market for them. I know their guns would be more than what TM and others sell theirs for but wouldn't that be better than Colt and company suing?

ArmaLite tried. CA screwed them over from my understanding.
Why would any gun mfg. want to leave its profitable business of making guns, and make airsoft which, like or not, is still a gray area compared to real firearms - especially when it comes down to little areas like silencers, etc etc.
I see firearms mfgs. kinda ignoring airsoft, till airsoft steps over a boundery or two, then they just sue that airsoft company to all hell. (Glock sueing KSC and TM any one?)
Airsoft doesn't 'hurt' gun makers, but at the same time, when airsoft crosses a line, the gun makers will show the airsoft companies who's really incharge.
.. Or thats at least how I see it.

Probably, but you run the risk of getting it seized, just as if it had trademarks on it.

Cool didnt no about that
To the best of my knowledge, the RedWolf Guarantee only applies if that particular item isn't illegal/prohibited in your country, and if you have all trademarks permanently removed.

"Your money is as important to us as it is to you! To prove this, we offer a money back guarantee that your order reaches you safely (applies to all countries where airsoft is legal)."
it says where airsoft is legal, though i am sure it requires that the trades are removed and the tip painted orange. there are no asterisks or anything surounding that quote or the m4s system on their site. i also know that poweredgeusa is trying to import some of the m4 s system as well, and their site didnt mention any difficulties surrounding the importation of them. i really dont know, but it would be worth an email to redwolf if you were truly interested.

I can attest to Redwolf's gurrantee. I ordered a year ago at about time, and when I didn't get my gun for awhile, I emailed them. They talked to TNT, and sent a new one. I got it a month later. So besides the wait, and the frustration, I did get my gun.

well, on the home page it says free shipping for the first ten m4a1 and m4-s system bought. the free shipping deal on everything in stock ended on monday (the 20th), but the free shipping is still good for the tm m4 and tm m4-s system.
"We have just received the newest addition to the Tokyo Marui line of products and we would like to extend our gratitude to our customers by offering our Tokyo Marui M4A1 and our New Tokyo Marui M4-S System with free UPS Ground shipping (in the United States Only) for the first ten customers."
i think that they refund the shipping price to your credit card when the order gets processed but not at the checkout. if you are really interested, it would be worth emailing them about.
