All,

First I would like to thank everyone for their participation in the post rating system. We have had over 1500 votes cast in little over 2 weeks since we started it.

Since it was started, moderators were instructed to not delete posts or threads unless they were totally offensive. Thus far I don't believe the moderators have had to delete any posts or threads. So any threads you have seen disappear were a result of community moderation.

We have learned a few things since we started it, and we plan to keep tweaking it, however I would like to get some feedback on the following questions:

1) Do you think this is a fair way to moderate the forums?

2) Have you noticed a difference in the quality/relavance of AO posts since this system was implemented?

3) Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve the system?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Patton and deacon, thanks for your responses, they have been noted. However I didnt want a drawn out conversation between two people, just simple responses. :)

I have a suggestion, but I think the thing is going great so far. It seems if someones gets (1) 5-star rated post, they have the 5 stars under their name. Maybe increase the averaging distance. So, you need a total of like 10 rated posts to display that.

That isn't true of what I know of. I am almost certain Locutus said when he started this point feedback that a person must have a certain amount of ratings before it begins to count.

Locutus, correct me if I am wrong.:p

Edit..

I looked around and here is quoted from the big man (Locutus) himself:p

"Your reputation rating will appear under your name after your posts have accumilated 10 votes."

Ok, simple reply.

1. Yes, I think its fair. As long as the members are responsible with it I think its a great system. But as you said the system still needs to be monitored and tweaked.

2. Yes, I noticed one particular person who put down some poor quality, sloppy posts. However, after receiving some bad ratings(and I think someone pm'ed to him) his recent posts have shaped up quite nicely.

3. Nothing off the top of my head. Maybe something like was mentioned in one of those first two posts that were deleted, where you type(or have a selection) a reason for why you gave the post the rating you gave it.

I thought it was a great idea and still do, I believe AO has really cleaned up since you started this, Locutus. As long as people can keep it fair and don't rate the thread "delete me" because you don't particularly like the person that made the post.
