I was wondering... for use in my group, when we have time... do any of you have any ideas for any outdoors or indoors type of black ops/covert ops missions? Like having an intelligence/spy team in disguise, and have them try to gather information/retrieve an item/assassinate a target.
Thanks for any comments.

In Eastern PA, a group of teams came together to try this idea. Of course, if you're going to have a spy-type role, you have to have neutral roles where people are non-combative "civilians."
The only problem with this kind of senario is that it became too complex for many people's tastes, especially those who come to airsoft games to simply "shoot everyone up." Our senario was basically U.S./allied forces in a generic third world country with the mission of locating and destroying weapons caches. The only problem was that these guys were occupied for most of the time with the militant op force, so they hired a group of civilians to locate the items for them and report back, all the while having an Operative amongst them (the civilians), who was keeping tabs - due to the fact that the civlians were suspected of being highly anti-American.
In addition to finding the weapons caches, the operative also managed to convince the civilians to focus their aggression on foiling the mobility and funcionality of the militant Op Force, despite the fact they were more hellbent on being Anti-American.
Eventually the CIA operative was captured, but recaptured from the militants by civilians who were paid off by the U.S. military - and that's where things became too complicated because we had a mock-hospital set up and the neutral medic ended up being a foreign operative who was paid off by the CIA to assist in the operation of recovery.
People didn't like the psychology behind all of this, nor the idea of being shot in the back several times (cause they sure as hell didn't know what the hell was going on). More trouble in planning a senario like this; you can't outline everything going on. The Op Force, nor the civlians, can be aware (before the game) that there is a CIA operative running amongst the neutral roles. This often poses a problem, because only after the game ends do the majority of players realize/discover what was even going on most of the time.
I personally thought it was an interesting and extremely dynamic game, but I'm sort of outspoken here on that. LOL.

That was in Western PA. It ended up being far too complex for the ability of the players to grasp it.
There is a large difference between covert operations and black operations as well gentlemen...
A COVERT operation is one done under the uniform of the nation launching the operation, but done in secret.
A BLACK operation is much more complicated. Black operations are done under false colors, wearing non descript clothing or uniforms of some other nation and carrying false ID for another country's military in some cases (If you're trying to blame the consequences on that country for example.) You carry weapons from any country but that of the host. You wear no identifying insignia. Black operations are often funded from "interesting" sources. (Don't ask what I mean, I won't tell you.) There are no 'rules' in black operations. Sometimes money is paid to mercenaries to carry out a black op. In extreme cases, operatives will carry out an operation to the letter, only to be discredited or sanctioned in the end. (Sanctioned is government-speak for killed.) Black ops also work on the principle of "plausible deniability" for the originators of the operation. A properly executed black op leaves no trace of the originator. If any of the operatives/assets are caught or killed, there is no way to trace them to the originator nation of the op, so that country can simply say: "Wasn't us, we don't operate that way."
All that said, it would be pretty tough to simulate a black op in Airsoft, because black ops are designed to blame things on other countries to make them look bad. Black ops are designed to start wars, kill political enemies and effect regime changes or sway political favor toward the country sponsoring the black op.
If we had our own little geo-political Airsoft universe, it could be done. The Krieger/Tropico thing for example. Let's say it would be to the advantage of country "x" for Krieger and Tropico go to war because Tropico will have to withdraw three divisions from their border with "x", thus leaving the Tropico/X border wide open for invasion or incursion.
So "x" sends in their spooks and kills off a Tropico general and leaves a few clues that implicate Krieger troops. Tropico invades Krieger and immediately country X jumps on the pile as a Krieger ally, invading Tropico from the other side, which is what they wanted to do all the time, but couldn't because of those three Krieger divisions.
Or let's say that Krieger has resources that X needs and wants. The new Krieger leader doesnt want to sell the resources to X, but his assistant is not opposed to the idea. You need to do one of two things. Bring the assistant to power by discrediting the top guy or flat out get RID of the top guy by knocking him off and blaming it on....TROPICO. Then you come in and negotiate a peace between the two and get the new Krieger leader to sell/give you those pesky resources as a condition for an alliance between you and Krieger. Sneaky, underhanded and rotten. God I love black ops. :D

In a couple of years, if we're lucky, maybe Goss will have quite a few of these boys trained and able to infiltrate some of the terror networks. Of course that would mean putting guys in there for quite different purposes - since the likelihood that a member of a terrorist group would ever approach a case officer is ziltch to none.
Actually, something like that would make for an interesting senario. Having multiple Op Force groups aligned against U.S. forces (and out-number them), and just leave it up to a black op to pit these two Op Forces against each other to the point where the U.S. boys can easily over-run both.

read my S.W.A.T post under milsim, I would someday like to play in a swat game, and really acually be apart of the swat team :D Read it if your interested, it's based on one team(terrorist) are holding a hostage and the swat team has to save/retrive it. I personally think it would be very fun, especially with the people I play with. Hehe, we got 5 guys, one spets, one ak, perfect for terrorist, and 3 others, me, m4 my friend m16a2, and the other buddy of mine with a mp5-a5.
