Hi all, I had an earlier post where I had a mock-up of a "masterkey" conversion I was working on. The mock-up consisted of 2 springers I put together to see how everything would fit and what it looked like. I received my CA M15A4 and proceeded to attach a Maruzen 870 pump to the M15A4. A small gas tank from a cheapo NGB was used as a new gas tank that fits in the handguard.

I made some heavy duty brackets that attach the body of the shottie to the forward takedown pin. The bracket is attached via 4 allen bolts that I threaded into the 870's body. Also, there is a 8" strap in the handguard that is attached to the 870 with 2 #10 stainless steel machine screws. Two holes were drilled/tapped into the top of the shottie. It is rock solid as is, but I also have a bracket that attaches the shottie and M15A4 barrels together. I removed it because I didn't like how it looked.

It is truely a beast weighing in at 10 lbs and the small gas tank is only good for about 6 shots, but it packs a big punch and is something unique. I have attached a few pictures, check it out.

Here's my new M15A4

Congrats on a job well done! Looks like you put a lot of effort into it and it finally paid off. One thing is for sure, I would hate to get Masterkeyed!

Good Job, That's awesome, but wouldn't be easier just to get an m203 no offense or anything.

Cut that barrel down a tad, to even it out, but nice work, very slick, and not seeing the gas tubes is very nice. Great work

In that case, it would no longer be a "Masterkey" but the same setup weapon 80/100 people have on their armalites.

Originality is "key" here...

Looks sweet. I woudl cut the end of the 870s barrel off tho to make them about the same size.

Excelent work my friend, but I would like to pose a question, is it at all dificult to cock? It appears the pump action is a good distance from the pistol grip on the m16. Have you run into any problems or do you find it comfortable for extended use?

Thanks!
Scott

Yeah unless you are 7 feet tall the pump is almost unreachable when shouldering the weapon. You can fire the first shot from the shoulder position, but to use the pump you have to fire it from the hip. I modeled it after the gun "Billy" used in the movie predator. I don't remember it (the shotgun) being fired in the movie. And actor Sonny Landham "Billy" is about 6 foot 4 inches. May be I should have used a semi-auto shottie.

keep in mind that such shotguns are breaching tools exclusively, however, im sure they work wonders on personnell, they just arent meant for such. Great looking piece. If you want to sell it to me, feel free to shoot me a PM ;)

Hence the term "Masterkey". Great looking gun although I like it more on the M4A1.

Very professional. Is the shotgun held on only by the bracket that attaches to the takedown pin, or is there something else I don't see that holds the front end of the shotgun to the M16?

hey instead of cutting the 870s barrel just stick a silencer on the m16
lol a timid .223 with a booming 12 ga under it for moral support

yeah but thats pointless if you ask me. Its like having a silencer on a gun with a m203. I say chop the barrel

But see, supressors are used with M203's. They are used for cave fighting. When your in a cave, the report of a weapon is loud enough to damage your eardrums. So you can fire all day long in a cave with a supressed rifle. The m203 is just to seal the cave when all is said and done.
