View Full Version : Signature Suggestion

Just curious about if there's a limit to the size of the signature I don't mean to flame but some people I feel really take up a lot of space uselessly. I think it's great and all that people can put these banners in their signatures but do you really need more than one? Just a random thought. But I figure we might be able to save a little space if you limit it.

I agree. While there is no official limit, people should use some common sense and common courtesy when it comes to graphical signatures. Any larger than a standard 468 x 60 banner is excessive.

I guess Jteezy is fin but i have seen way worse and when people put pics on the post instead of a working link that takes alot of room. Locutus you hit the nail on the head with that one. Common sense somthing missing in my generation. :D

...not me! he's surely not talking about me!

With all due respect, I can understand how you would find it irritating, however, while my signature may be irritating to some, I really find it to be quite irrelevant.

If the information I have to contribute is ideed meaningful or helpful, the length of my signature isn't really a factor, but that's just how I feel about it.

Lates,
Scott

lol regardless of how important something you have to say is... its still annoying... my opinion is that signatures might as well be done away with completely. they really dont serve a purpose.

Well even if it is annoying for some people we just got to ignore it. The sigs are like a cring baby you cant control the balling

Yours is a little bit big, and could very easily be reduced. But no, he's not.

Simple Fix:
Click on "Profile"
Click "Edit Options"
find "Show user's signatures in their posts?"
click "No"

end of problem..

fox i have tried to reeduce it but everytime i do it gets less and less crisp. if you could tell me of a photo program that will shrink the image and still retain good image quality then i will change it ASAP.

As long as the porportion of the image stays the same, the quality will not change as you shrink it. Not noticeably anyways.

That solves the problem in a very draconian fashion, though. A little information on team affiliation, experience, etc can be helpful and/or interesting. A big banner just wastes space and bandwidth. It'd be nice if they had a "Show images in signatures" option.

Agreed, however with the current board configuration, thats about the only way to entirely do away with bloated sigs. Signature image size guidelines by the Mods seems like the easiest way of keeping things under control.

It'd be nice if they had a "Show images in signatures" option.

That would be an excellent option.

Another very simple solution would be to only show the user's signature once in a thread. Ex. If I've posted 4 messages in a thread, my signature would only appear in the first post of the thread.

This is the current method on www.austinairsoft.com and works great.
