I may be starting a project soon, then selling after it is complete. I would like to create a AEG TMP. I currently own a tmp. Anybody have any suggestions?

I'm thinking...

- v6 gearbox
- either uzi or thompson mags
- cut down TN barrel
- custom made battery or battery bag

I'm thinking i may be able to do something with a battery in the grip?
Any suggestions please post.

Does anyone know if a thompson or uzi mag would fit in the tmp?- the magwell. Not perfectly, but will just fit?

I was thinking about this same project the other day as I was trying to fall asleep. Here are some of the problems I thought of when I was contemplating:

- You don't have enough room in the rear of the weapon to allow for a piston to draw back completely if you have a standard magazine loaded weapon.

- Instead of using the magazine to hold ammo you could put a modified battery in the magazine and drop the magazine when you need to make a battery change.

- I was also thinking that with the above arrangement that you could mod the hell out of the forward grip or forward lower portion of the gun and make that in to some sort of magazine or ammo reservoir.

P.S.-- I hope you were thinking about modding a cheap plastic springer TMP. Because it would be a shame if you destroyed a gas powered KSC full metal TMP.

the TMP is not full metal. Most(if not all ) of the internals are but the body is polymer keeping with the real steel's plastic body. But it would be a tragidy to hack up a ksc gas tmp.

Ooops... I never really fooled around with one so I didn't really know, but thank you for correcting me. I saw a few cheap springer TMP's on eBay for like $9. I'm sure you could rip a few of those up with out shedding a tear.

that sounds like a great idea it might be possible to get a stick battery and maybe find a way to make it half the length that might fit somwhere

garrett doesnt fat mike make his own batteries? he told me he could make any size battery i need... maybe that would be of some sort of service to the project....

perhaps UZI internals would fit? Just a suggestion. i have been pondering how you would mount the mechbox inside the springers light weight body.if there is room within the body perhaps epoxying small strips of thin sheet metal would give you both the ridigity and duribility and the hard points you will need for the mech box.

Ok code3, i dotn get your idea, id you put the battery in the mag, what would hold the bbs?

Code3 is suggesting that since there might not be enough room for a regular battery in the gun, we could make some sort of reservior inside the gun to feed bbs into it. THen we could put the battery in the magazine.

We are talking about the same gun right? I put a picture of a springer TMP below just to make sure..... If you look at the profile of the gun you will see that there isn't enough room behind the magazine well to put a cylinder head and cylinder, and still have enough room to draw back any kind of piston.

You would have to translate all your parts forward thus rendering virtually impossible any kind of standard magazine fed weapon. I don't know,.... maybe you could run a feed tube from the magazine to the front of the weapon where the hopup would be, or you could use the forward lower portion of the gun as a BB reservoir. There a few things you could do. I was just suggesting that if you were unable to use the magazine for BB's that you might as well use it for a battery.

I know this is a crazy old thread, but with recent happenings a thought occurred....

Perhaps an AEP gearbox from one of the new G18c's? Certainly that piston would draw back plenty... Might even give enough room for the standard battery for that gun in the foregrip and a standard mag...

Jack.

yeah but that requires guting a brand new G18 AEP.

*Sighs* I hate to spread rumors here, but this problem could already be solved.

Supposedly, one of the next AEP releases is going to be an H&K Mp7. So if this happens, it would be a real easy change to a TMP. Via conversion kit, or just modification to the outer body.

[Edit] I'll get you some day texx.
