I know that my glock 18c is supposed to have some sort of safety on it... but i'll be damned if i dont know where it is!! All i do see, is the rate of fire selector switch that can go into the neutral position (horizontal)... is this the safety??

I've read somewhere that when the Glock 18c's selector switch is in the middle, then it's set to safe.
I don't have a glock, but my brother does (a glock 17, though...but the trigger safety should be the same....correct me if I'm wrong). From what I've seen, the safety is integrated into the trigger. The first safety precausion can be seen in the middle of the trigger (a button of sorts). The trigger cannot be pulled back until that button is pressed.
The button also provides another method of safety. From what I've seen, you can (I'd assume with your fingernail) pull the safety "button" towards the front of the gun. The back end of the safety (which is behind the trigger) will brace up against the gun's grip. When you use this safety feature, then the trigger cannot be pulled at all.
If any of this is wrong, then please correct me.

I think it depends on the brand. The KJ glock I've used had a safety under the barrel; you had to push the "serial number plate" forward.

The trigger safety system, along with the selector switch being in the full horizontal position, are the safeties for the G18. If you don't have a trigger safety, keep the selector switch in horizontal and you should be golden. :)
But if a KSC G18c is cocked (as in the slide is pulled back, loading a BB into the 'chamber', and the trigger is now 'live') and you THEN flick the fire selector from either auto or semi, and you THEN also proceed to pull the trigger, I hope that you are aiming it nowhere important. Cos the wee beastie will fire.. and you would then go "OMG!" or "oops".. or "WOooo dude!".. (depending on your rationality i spose! :D) .. But then try pulling the trigger from that.. and Nuffin.. It doesnt REcock itself from that position...
Well that is from MY experience with the G18c so far.. grin..

here's how the g18c's safter works (ksc model) if the gun is in semi or full auto (all the way up or all the way down) and has been cocked, it will fire no matter what, even if you move it to saftey or semi auto or whatever. move it to saftey and cock it once more to properly put it into safe.
VERY IMPORTANT ...
once the g18c has been put into safe, and cocked, YOU CAN NOT MOVE THE FIRE SELECTOR FROM SAFE. if you jam it into single fire or auto fire it will break/bend/screw up the fire selector system and you'll have to get it repaired eventually. to properly get it out of safe, pull the slide back and while it is back select semi or full auto, once the slide returns back to the normal position, normal firing will resume.
I've seen several people break their fire selectors trying to get it out of safe, without pulling the slide back.
To summarize:
the g18c's fire selector will move freely when its supposed to, dont try to force it, it's probably in safe and u have to cock the gun to get it out of safe (or you'll break it)
if the gun has been cocked (either in semi or full) and selector changed to safe, the gun will still fire unless you manually cock it once the selector is set to safe
