Scott Helvenston, 38, father, respected warrior was killed in an act of barbaricy in Fallujah, Iraq on March 31st, 2004. Scott was a former Navy SEAL of 12 years (the youngest man ever to pass BUD/S at 17 years of age), SEAL instructor of 4 years, free fall jumpmaster, actor and stunt cordinator. Scott was serving with Blackwater Securities as part of Paul Bremer's close proection and other security detail. Some of you might have known Scott from the tv show "Combat Missions." He was very active in the airsoft community and truly loved it. I had the pleasure of meeting Scott once and he was an execptional human being. My condolences go to the Helvenston family; Rest in Peace. Thise who did this horrible act will pay!!

Yea that was him. He was one hell of a guy; he broke both of his legs on a dz during one jump and attempted to make it back to base camp all by himself. He went to Iraq because he felt that during his career he was not in enough danger for his country. One hell of a patriot, I wish more people loved this country as much as he did.

I remember him. Others will too, for a long long time. Unfortunately, I never met him, but he did seem like a very good, honest, patriotic man. I applaud his love of country.
Let's not forget, that what was done in The Eff, was also done in The Mog. Horrible acts of brutality and humnan indecency. One of my Gov/Hist. professors commented that if he was CiC he would have had troops pulled out in 20 minutes and the entire town levelled.
My (and I think, the majority of everyone heres) condolences go out to not only Scott, but his family, his unit and everyone effected by what happened.
R.I.P. Bro.

The Iraqis figured since they were civilians and not military soldiers that there would be no major repercussions. Like you said, if that would have happened to to a US or any coalition solider Fallujah, there would have been deep S**t right away. However, that was the last straw..a MAJOR military operation is being planned as we speak to take place within the next week and from what I understand so far, the whole city is going to be surrounded and this place will finally be dealt with an "iron fist and velvet glove." One of my military buddys caught word that a specific "group" is being sent to deal with a lot of the challenge, so I believe Army special forces will play a major role.
Those friggin morons over there have no idea what they will be bringing down on themselves. It's bad enough to ambush a SEAL because of their community, but with what happened to those people over there (as in the desecration of their bodies) they may have just pissed off some people that may take it a little more personal then most.

My bet's on D-boys and SOAR.

I highly doubt CAG will be involved. The forces you will more than likey see will be Marine MEUs along with support from Army and Airforce air assests. If any special forces will be involved, which im sure they will, it will mostly be a contingent of Army Special Forces because this type of operation is one of their "bread and butter" type operations. Also, CAG does not have enough man power to support several operations at once, especially one of this scale. However the 160th SOAR is a very good possibility.
Airborne,
Ok, I understand that. But in all fairness, I would think that any form of SOCOM units would take his death and treatment as an act of disrespect. I understand that there is more than likely a rivalry of sorts between units and branches, but at the end of the day, they respect what each other unit has done to earn their spot. There isa brother hood in these units.
Although I could just be a little idealistic and pissed off about what happened. I would like to see a form of retribution done.

Yes, im sure they all take it very personally and they want and will get their revenge, HOWEVER, a commanding officer is not going to allocate specialized units like SFOD-D for this type operation, because thats not what their mission profile is. There are other units in SOCOM that have the mission specific capabilities and will be utilized for this type of cordon and search operation. Also, because they (sfod-d) currently have their hands full with the war on global terrorism; it's not smart and logistically, it's not sound to remove these men from their current duties and relocate them for this. The only possible way I'd see their use in this operation is intel and intel only and I highly even doubt that.
I do understand you though, I'm still STEAMING over what happened and I won't be happy untill I see revenge as well.

When I say D-boys, I especially mean those SEALs that will have felt Scotts death more than the others. They have a lot of flexibility and power in the ranks, and if they were used, we wouldn't know. Either way, someone's getting an ***-beating.

Im sure the SEAL community is hurting the most and if such forces would be used, it would be classified. You must remember that no matter the flexibility and power, there is still someone the answer to untill you get to the top. I guess what im trying to say is their use is not going to be authorized based on their want for revenge, no matter who they are. We learned the hard lesson in Panama about using forces that were said to be able to do anything and their use for the wrong mission type resulted in several of Americas men coming home in boxes.

Guys, As this thread was intended to salute a fallen soldier and we are going far out of track, I will just lock this thread. First because of the reason above and second, because there is still guys out there that need to be supported with our prayers and understanding. All the remaining should be left to the real man ;) (no offence intended).
God bless our soldiers.
