I have a spring gun that I play with in the house. I've been wanting to upgrade my gun to either an AEG or a GAS gun. Which onw should I buy?

I'm not planning to play in any matches just shoot around the house and such.

The best thing you can do is read the Newbie FAQ, you'll be surprised by how much it helps.

Pretty much all TM AEGs are alike (beyond barrel length difference). You should choose whichever one you like most.

You shouldn't, as a warning, shoot an AEG in the house. It'll be surprisingly powerful compared to a springer.

Really? I shot a gas gun a while back not that strong in my opinion, well it wasn't an air soft, it shot metal pellets so it was a rodent killer? A bird killing gun? Pretty nice, used c02 I think. Anyways, despite what you said, I think I'm going to buy an AEG and shoot it in the house =P Only place I can play anyways.

I beleive you lost..

Adverage spring shoots between 150 and about 250 FPS

Adverage AEG(stock) shoots between 250 and 350 FPS

Adverage gas gun (stock, in decent weather) shoots between 270 and 370 FPS.

Beleive me.. theres quiet a difference. You will break windows, you will damage plaster, you will damage walls.

Find a place to play thats safe. Please.

My spring P228 was chronographed at 208fps. My Mini MP5 was chronographed at 192fps. My gas KSC Glock 19 was chronographed at 273fps. My friend's Airsoft Elite MP5A4 was chronographed at 359fps.

When my Brothers and I first got into Airsoft, two of us had KWC spring pistols, one had a hardball shotgun, and the other had a mini AK-47. We would set up bases on oppisite sides of the basement and turn off all the lights, and have wars. Close Quarter Action!!! It was fun as hell......that all ended however as soon as my mom found out what we were doing! haha.

My friend found out what powerful gas guns (KWC Desert Eagle) and AEGs can do indoors. I went to his house, and there was 6mm dings all over the place, holes in the plastic blinds, and half of the lightswitch covers were missing.

Apparently, he tried shooting the switch with his gun and shattered the cover.

As accurate as AEGs are at close range, I wouldn't say they're worth $250 just to plink with.

It is a lot of fun playing in your own house, but it does a great deal of damage. As Foxtrot said, find a SAFER place to play.

My M733 can easily put holes in my walls that are almost a quarter inch in, but then again it was shooting .25g bbs at close to 400fps.:) It was a lot of fun to do it, but now I have a butt load of dents in my one wall.

Word of advise, find someplace OUTSIDE that isnt around any houses, and if you cant find any places like that play at some local fields.

Keep in mind that bb guns are illegal in San Francisco. If you are going to play keep it in doors and don't take your s**t outside. If you upgrade to an AEG don't play at all, unless you live up on the nice part of Twin Peaks or the really nice part of the Sunset district where everybody does not live shoulder to shoulder. If you get an AEG then go to one of these games:

Yeap, I live in the Nob Hill Area, lots of rich white people here. Considering I'm not white, and I'm welding a big gun, I don't think that it'll be too safe either, that is why I play in doors, heh. I might chip out for a full size spring gun first, since I already have a hand spring gun. Then maybe an eletric hand gun?

Sorry, I got my zip codes crossed. But, you still live in the shoulder to shoulder part of the city. It could be a lot worse though; Instead of Nob Hill you could live on Potrero Hill or Hunter's Point Hill... LOL! Sorry, I sound like I'm trying to disuade you from buying an AEG in the above post. If you do get an AEG, then just go to one of the games I posted. They are all good games and good people. I'm just suggesting that you reserve the indoor games for springers only.

All I can say is this: " do NOT play inside!! " I had a full out AEG war in my basement and let me tell you the results...

1. TONS AND TONS of 6mm dents in the wall

2. TONS AND TONS of welts (looked like I walked into a mosquito nest)

4. my mom was insanely pissed at me

5. All airsoft guns-GONE FOR TWO WEEKS (see #4) ;)

Heh, **** that! If i lived at Hunter's Point I wouldn't be buying a AEG I would be buying 'real' gun, heh. Anyways, funny thing is was I was at Daly City yesterday at 'Todai' good food. Anyways what about an EBB gun? What is so bad about that?

I got kicked out by my dad for putting holes in the walls from that....
Get both!!!!! get a AEG first (main gun) and a few clips like 2 or 3 Hi-cap then if you have money left get the GBB or NBB with a few clips also. If it was me I would get 2 GBB and get 6 clips and like do the matrix thingy shuffling accrost a room firing the 2 GBB in both hands...now thats talkin

they are magazines, not clips. to contribute to this conversation, i would like to say that even my uhc beretta damages the drywall from 30 feet...just think of what an aeg can do...

....that in San Francisco people don't have side yards (unless you are filthy rich). The houses are built right next to each other. So in one house you can hear the T.V. in another house even if it isn't turned up loud.

....San Francisco is liberal. Nothing against liberals, but you mid west guys have no idea what a liberal is until you come and live in San Francisco. The current mayor, Gavin Newsom, is concidered conservative for San Francisco standards. So what do you think the city is like on gun control?

....if you live in the above circumstances and you have nosy neighbors, then one day durring an indoor game you will find a guy in a kevlar helmet and a (real) MP-5 with "SFPD" written on his shoulder coming in to your house to join the fun.

That is the nature of airsoft in San Francisco. However, I did come across some Academy of Art students who lived in the Tenderloin. They told me that they had some awsome CQB games in the dorms they have downtown. So you never know.

My UHC beretta leaves dents in drywall from 40ft (parents weren't too happy about it.......)

Ever shot a huge spider or a slug with your springer of shotgun (TM spas hehe)?

I have. I freak out whenever i sorta see one. I have alittle bit of arachniphobia and instead of stepping on the damned things, I say shoot'em. I see a spider going down my wall, I busted out my SPAS and BLAMMO!!! guts are on the wall and i have to clean it up. And I see a another spider crawling around (My spas was dead after june....) POP with my MP5 springer. Fun stuff.

There was a guy in Hawaii named inferno who super dupered some custom airsoft guns and had a TM Benelli. And so one day while washing his dishes he saw a Five-0 cockaroach (HUGE ***) and thought his super AK would kill his wall and he didn't want to fill up the gas tank for his glock. So he busted out his shottie and i bet you can imagine what happened to the room....

I know what you mean. I went scarface on this huge wolf spider in my room with my P90. Infinity makes better splats though.

over the summer here in japan we get these huge freaky spiders. bigger than my hand and black and yellow stripes.... some of the really big ones have weird blue colors too... anyways we busted one of those open with some TM springers. nothing like watching it fall slowly from its web with a green splatter on its *** lol.

oh man don't remind me the last time i played with AEG's in the house. My friends took my house hostage with spring pistols while me and a friend had my TM M4 and he had my TM MP5SD5 so we had to take the house back from the outside and battle inside, i shot up my plastic blinds up really bad and had holes across the walls. Then the opposition force ran straight for my room and immediatly bolted it up, occasionally they would open the door and fire a shot with the spring pistol while 100's of rounds from me and my friend fired back at them and bounced all over my room destroying posters and other stuff, bottom line is that it was intense and a lot of stuff got broken and shattered. So don't spend $250 for an AEG if you just want to shoot it in the house because your going to end up breaking more stuff costing you way more than buying an AEG.

So I got myself a Springer Hand and a full size. Going to get a mini eletric and a hand too. =)
