I wanted to know what a good webserver would be to start a website?
Does anyone have any ideas of FREE servers?

I recommend angelfire above geocities or tripod. It's a lot less hassle than those two.
I have had my Geocities account for 5 years and have never had a problem with it. I have tried Angelfire off and on for the last six and have found the ad service to be increasingly intrusive. I like the fact that you get more bandwidth with angelfire and that you can hotlink to pics, but did not like much else.
Geocities has a much simpler User Interface and has better access to search engine for advertising the site. I used to have an Unreal Tournament page that averaged at least 200 visitors a week simply because I regularly posted "action" pics of my "sniping" exploits.
IMO if you want a free site, Geocities is just better and easier. If you use Frontpage or any other Webpage program, it won't really matter, both sites offer integration. (I myself use a combination of Xara, Front Page, and Quark Xpress.) To each his own.
