View Full Version : overpressure?

My roomate, Odinspear, just recently acquired his first GBB, a kwa Glock 19 with two mags. We were out in this construction area testing out our hop-up settings and gathering objective info for our gun reviews when after about eight mags worth, his mags both stopped shooting and instead a weak popping sound without blowback was produced. When he touched the back of teh mag's release valve it was clear that a LOT of pressure was inside the mag, but nothing was coming out. He tried to empty one of them by pulling the trigger, recocking it manually (as it is a glock it has no double action action setting) and pulling the trigger after doing this about a hundred times, there was still no signifigant increase in gas pressure discharge, only the same popping.
it was 80+ degrees in the sun, the black mags were left on a black gun case for a minute after filling to reasemble the glock.
question- did he overfill? or did the gas expand after it was introduced into the mag, keeping the valve from opening all the way? or did he blow something in his gun?
my mk23 SOCOM NBB with 134a was left okay- it suffered no ill effects from the heat.

I've had some problems w/ my KSC g19 (practially the same manufacture). If theres still a good charge in the mag, Id want to check the hammer asembly and the pin that actually strkes the mag valve. but u may want to just hunt for a broken pice or something out of place. Hope my advice helps in some way.

Like White said, you'll have to make sure that the GBBs trigger-to-hammer axis is still intact, and still working properly. It could be a malfunction in one of those components that's causing the GBB to simply not strike the valve at all.
However, from your presentation, yes, it could very well be a true overpressure situation caused by expansion of the gas after fill -- somewhat unlikely at your cited temperatures (how did your friend fill, BTW?), but nevertheless, possible.
You can try to relieve the overpressure by carefully "tapping" the valve plunger button with a hammer and a striker of some kind (the external shaft of a ballpoint pen housing?), slowly letting out the overpressure.....

you're all going to love this...
as soon as I posted this I field stripped his glock and low and behold the phillips heade screw that sits in the center of the blowback chamber was so loose it almost fell out- and while it was loose, it was hanging down and interfereing with the slide. popped it back in place tightened it, and liberally spread some lube around and presto- it's even better than before!

HAHAHA...I forgot about the screw, might want to find some lock tight from the hardware store. Its a type of almost paste that keeps screws from becomeing loose. You can pass on the lock tight, but then you may have to keep re-tightning the screw. Im glad it wasnt something more perminate

ok today i got my KWC v2.0 Desert Eagle form Airsplat.com
I shot about 70 shots and all of a sudden it wouldn't shoot anymore. It wouldn't blowback and would make a faint sound of gas being released. I'm not sure if it's a leaking gass valve on the clip or the chamber that lets the gas in the gun. anybody have any ideas that i could try?

My buddy OdinspearX had a similiar problem with his glock. try this-
first strip it. where the Blowback chamber is ther is a phillips head screw. if it is loose, tighten it. if it comes loose more, dab a FAINT amount of "loc-tite" (available at most hardware stores) onto the screw.
without seeing it or having more info though, that is all I got
edited-oops realized I posted an answer in the very same thread it was already answered in. sorry guys.

Decep, it doesn't look like much actually, it's a metal rectangle with a phillips head screw in the center, and when you open it you'll recognize the individual parts. That's pretty general but every gun is different and I've only become familiar with about three GBBs.
