sniping isnt the best way to go( or so im told) it costs alot because a stock sniper rifle isnt ****... and there are very strict rules on snipers to begin with.... if you want more info on a good sniper rifle though post in the springer forum, or if you know the name of the gun you want use the search tab at the top of the screen

BrassEagle,
Being a sniper request more than just the gun in airsoft. As SGT said, there is a maximum of 500fps on AirsoftOhio games and 550fps in some other state. With that in mind, don't think you will shoot people from 400ft accurately. Although, it is easy to reach 200ft head size when the gun is tuned properly. Being tuned properly will request lot of time and unfortunately, some money. There is guns out there that worth between 300$ and 1200$ easily. It is not needed to change everything in the gun to get something you will like but it is true that many aftermarkets will help to really appreciate what you have in your hands.
Gun aside, sniping in airsoft request a different attitude than a regular AEG user. First of, you have (if you go with higher fps than 400fps) a minimum engagement distance that will, most of the time, play against you. For this reason, if you really want to enjoy the sniper role, be prepared to get in bad position and even more, run like hell to avoid a rain of bbs. Talking about rain, I would say that for each bb you would shoot, you would probably get 50 bbs back at you. Not saying that you will miss your target but just that if you do or there is more than one guy, you will quickly be squared off and you will either have to be more accurate than your ennemy or just run away.
But anyway, I am an airsoft sniper and truely, I love my role. If you are patient, willing to die more than enough, you will love with passion that role.

One more thing, sniping may be different then what you envision. Since I suspect "sniping" in paintball is different.

No, its about the same thing as paintball, unless his version of sniping is different. The only thing that would be different is the fact that airsoft sniping is A LOT more accurate then paintball sniping.
