First of all let me say that I love the site, its very nicely laid out, but I also noticed their are no off-topic forums or anything like them. Most other forums, airsoft or not contain them, and I was wondering what the reason was.

There is a good reason that there is not an off-topic forum. The forum here has a limited amount of space, and because of posts that are off topic, its just a waste of space. This board isnt free, the owners have to pay for it to keep it up, and you wouldnt want to suck more money out of their pockets so that a few people could just BS, would you?
The idea in itself is sound, just that it would take up space that legitimate statements and questions could be made in its place.

Very good, well now I know, and I dont really agree with ArmyHummer though. Just beacuse it is an airsoft site is not in itself a great reason not to have an off topic forum. If it makes more sense not to have one because it costs more, and takes away space from serious questions.

Disagree or not, people have asked this time and time again and the same two answers are given back A. we dont have space and B. there isnt a need to talk non airsoft on an airsoft forum. It just brings spam, flames, bans, problems, and trouble the community does not need to handle. Let alone most of the people from old AO and stuff.

the jungletoy forums have one if you desperately want to post off topic on an airsoft site.

but why would you waste your time at an airsoft site looking for a non-airsoft forum anyways. this makes no sense at all. if you are registered to this forum, then you are here to talk about airsoft. if you registered to this forum not to talk about airsoft, then i personally dont know why you did, because every subject on AIRSOFTOHIO is airsoft related.

airsoft retreat doenst even have an off topic forum, as big as it is. i trotally agree w/ armyhummer. i come to an airsoft forum to talk about airsoft. i can talk to my friends about other stuff. if u want a good off topic forum, go to www.talkbass.com. i frequent the forums there (because i play bass). you may not play bass, but if u want to talk about nothing, you can go there.

Simply put, the reason someone would want to have an off topic forum here is because of the relationships they have built with those people in this community. They want to bs with the friends they have made here, nothing more to it than that.
Not to put to much of a point on it, but Admin is not interested in an off-topic forum due largely to the fact that:
Mods already have a hard enough time keeping discussions on-topic.
"...off topic threads seem to be a breeding ground for flaming" - Locutus's exact words in a previous thread.
As was stated earlier, you can go to other forums to talk about non-airsoft related topics.
Much can be said for trying to keep the site airsoft related. This allows for people to not have to sift through topics on Counterstrike and Pokemon while looking for information on airsoft. Other sites have many different features that AO doesn't. AO doesn't have to be a direct copy of every other site on the net. Keeping an airsoft forum consistently relative to airsoft is a priority and should remain so.
I am not speaking for Admin or the mods, but this was what has been posted in previous threads in the last two years, that I have read.
