View Full Version : M9 safety not very safe?

I currently own a KJW M-9 GBB (Full Metal Version), and had noticed a small problem with the safety. The safety doesn't appear to work unless it's all of the way back. However, if it's just a tiny bit off, then the safety isn't on.
Personally, I wouldn't mind making sure that it is all of the way back; however, it can very easily move to the point where safety is off (which isn't much). This is a huge problem because I may put the safety on, but barely touching it may disable the safety.
Has anyone else had a problem similar to this? Is it a problem with the full-metal M9 (KJW), or should I be taking it in for repairs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Viper,
I occasionally see the KJW guns that have intermittent problems with the safety selector. To most its not a huge problem, but to others its a big concern.
It is repairable on most KJW guns, usually requiring a part or two to fix. Getting parts for KJW guns is another matter altogether, and with only one authorized distributor for KJW in the US, (and believe me they're BY FAR not the best), we're kind of left to salvage off of other guns. If you want to get it repaired, expect to wait about 6-8 weeks.
If you can live with it, I might try that first. If it becomes an issue with you, try to get it repaired.

Thanks for the information. I'll take your advice and see if I can live with it. It actually shouldn't be too much a problem as long as I know that the safety isn't reliable. I just need to pay attention a little more and take care to release the gas and make sure there aren't any BB's in the mag or the barrel before I put it away.
Thanks for the help.

Viper,
If you're mainly worried about storage and handling, indeed, a bit of extra "active" safety practiced on your end would go a long way to ward off trouble.
However, if you're worried about skirmish-use/carry, well, give this a thought....
Carry in DA-first-shot, and just use the long action of the trigger as a "safety."
=)
That's what I do with my WA PV. Safety off, DA first-shot. Yank it from the holster, aim, pull the trigger -- no second thoughts.
