First off, I do not own a Desert Eagle, nor do I plan to purchase one in the near future.
However, this came to my attention because I was at Airsoft Arms, and a customer there asked me about getting a metal slide for the Desert Eagle. I told him I had no idea, but it is possible that there may be one out there.
Now, this is not anything important at all, as it was just my curiosity getting the best of me, lol, so do not feel obliged to respond at all.
But if you do respond, thanks in advance!

ZEKE offered a metal slide, as well as frame, for the previous-generation Tokyo Marui Desert Eagles.
It is not known if these items will transplant with any success to the KWC DEs. The KWC DEs can, however, be fitted with an aftermarket extended external barrel assembly.
It is also unknown if such parts will be compatible with the new/current-generation TM DE. Currently (as of 05/2003), there has yet to be any aftermarket parts made for this new, "re-released" item.
Neither the Digicon NBB nor the Western Arms (long defunct) GBB DEs had such upgrades available.
Also, the various "special" versions of the TM DEs lack corresponding cosmeticall-matching metal upgrade parts.

I read that the new TM Desert Eagles are constructed of zinc metal die-cast-not sure exactly how metal that is, but it sounds metal enough.

Sykosis,
Most airsoft "metal" bodies/slides/etc. are made out of that very same pot-metal material.
=(
However, with that said, it's still good enough......
I'd rather that it be something else, but hey, if I've gotta beg, I can't choose, right?

Basically :P
Hmm, I wonder exactly how much it would cost manufactures then us consumers to make and buy better quality metal bodies for guns.

Sykosis,
It all depends on how much you'd wanna pay. =)
One of the smaller (but very, very highly regarded) custom-shops in Japan undertook the custom-make of a BRASS slide -- cost? Some $2,800 just for the slide alone.
My slide for Clarence's "DumboRAT Special?" 7075 aluminum was used, instead of the more common and slightly less stout 6061. Again, trade-off was cost.
Just like with custom knives, yes, the exotic materials can be had and definitely can be used....but you will have to pay a price. Strider will literally make you any of their knives with any steel that you'd want -- from their standard-for-2003 S30V to ATS-34 or BG-42...or whatever exotics you'd like to come up with.
Same for many of these airsoft specialty builders.

2,800 for a slide? Geezus!
Ya know, if I had the cash, I'd get me a Desert Eagle made of near real steel components, that would require red gas (either the real or the airsoftatlanta) to operate.

ive got a Metal Desert Eagle slide,Frame and Outer barrel in test phases right now.....
Its made of Aluminum and Cut with a CNC laser that cut the prototype to the Micron(gotta love Bored Boeing Machinists) ive put about 500 rounds through it so far without any problems... still testing spring and recoil strengths on it. as ive hit a few snags when it comes to the slide moving smooth enough to meet my requirments but expect a "Limited" production run to be coming out near the end of this year or 1st Q of 2004.
Oh yeah and cost is looking to be between $400-750.00US for the hole kit, im still deciding if i want to sell the parts sepratly
