I just got a set of ultra force acu's and they are great for the price... They also work great in the woods. One question though... How often do you have to wash acu's? Like if you wash them too much will they fade

I wash my ACUs and my other camo when they are dirty. Also all camo will fade with washing. it just takes time.

Inside out on cold, then let them hang dry.

You don't wash ACU when they are dirty, that actually makes them somewhat a little less ineffective.

It's not sad, they were designed to be that way.

I don't wash my BDU's unless they are caked in mud, its better that way.
I don't want to worry about fading, and I feel that they get more effective with a little dirt

For everyone else's sake, wash you BDU's when they start to smell. If your dog runs from you when you put your BDU's on it's time to wash them.

Well when you take it to that extreme ya, but how smelly do your BDU's get?

Hey, it might be able to repel BBs at some point.

After each game this summer I had to burn my BDU's. I had a pair of gloves that could walk on their own. Hey we had some big ops this year on some really hot days. I was sweating something fierce and my BDU's were getting wrecked.

I can attest to the gloves. That....was simply terrible. Just plain awful.

Just hope you never have to wear them to the point that they rot off of your body while you are wearing them... When that happens you will know my pain.
When it comes to airsoft use, wash your d*mn uniforms every time you wear them. You won't use them enough to make them fade as much as you are fearing. And if you have a funk about you when you take shelter in a fox hole with me, your @ss is getting tossed into no man's land! I hate stink people.

dont use artificial brightners.
use detergents like cheer.
this will slow the fading.

The best way to wash ACUs is to stand in the rain. Worked for me for years.
I found an easy way to keep my BDUs clean - I don't wear them. With such variety of CB clothing, BDUs stay on the hanger. :D

Coming from the guy who had no idea his Oakley gloves smelled like complete death...
I didn't wash my DCUs for nearly 3 months because I loved the look of the dirty and slightly muddy.
Wash as needed I guess. But that's been covered. But the funny part is that at the last Valley Creek game I saw guys in ACU rubbing mud on their blouses and trousers...I chuckled because it actually made the look tolerable.

If you are not going to wash them, make sure you don't come crying to me when you get jungle rot on your nut sack. It ain't pretty.
No seriously, wash in cold water. Air dry in a place that is NOT damp (i.e. the basement) this will cause a nasty mildew smell and that will take a couple more washes to get that out. If you use detergent, use it sparingly. 1/4 the amount for a full load (if you are washing them by themselves). When they are damp and all water (wetness) is gone, iron so that the rest of the water will evaporate (to prevent wrinkles) and then fold immediately.
I hope that my crap has help out to some degree.
