Well I moved down to the Houston Area a few weeks ago and was bummed about leaving the good airsoft scene in OH. I dug out my PTW from the piles of boxes and headed out to my first event here. I was the odd man out since I was literally the only one in DCUs. Multicam and Marpat are the basic kit down here I guess.

It was a pleasant surprise.

I played a night game recently at a local field with about 30-40 players. We ran a lengthy capture + hold style game with a series of buildings and it was a pretty good event. It was pretty humid (something like 90%) and even my turbofans fogged continuously.

Several of the players visit the AO site and mentioned it is easily one of the best for airsoft in the US. That is a nice compliment for all you mods and admins and a recognition of your hard work keeping the place running.

Overall, not a bad scene so far and I'll post updates on some of the games. Wishing I was back in OH but this scene at least doesn't suck.

Kapowe runs wicked events down there. I went to one about two years ago.

HOT CARL!!! Good to hear from you. Glad to hear you've got a good group down there. I added a thermal lens to my turbo fans and had no fogging problems today, despite high humidity and rain. I only had to run the fan on high a couple of times to combat excess fogging. I think Ray is getting more of them in soon.

How is the terrain down there? For some reason I image flat and shrubby...

I've only been to one of the fields so far and it really is very heavily wooded. (Just as much as Red Dragon, Valley Creek or parts of Springfield). The elevation change is not much (couple of man-made hills mostly).

The desert thing is a myth on this side of Texas. Frankly Houston is a lot like Florida - minus the palm trees.

Basically Houston is like a swamp.....My thermal lens turbofans still fogged continuously the other night..
