i know that when you use crappy BBs and .12s isnt good for your AEG. i was just wondering why they brake your gun if you use them. i have heard of people need their barrels, pistons, and springs replaced cause they used .12s and crappy BBs, i was just wondering why it breaks the gun cause i have never really gotten a straight answer

I always thought it was cus they were just made bad and would break in your gun or jam it
The Poor quality BBs are not just limited to .12s but. Most .12 BBs are low quality.
Low quality BBs may have burrs and chips int he surface that prevent may cause the BBs to jam in the barrel. Some low quality BBs may break or chip, meaning you are sending out jagged fragments.
Additionally, loq quality BBs may not be of uniform shape, weight, or integrity. As you decrease the size of your barrel by using a tight bore, the tolerances for size variation decreases. This will result in jamming.
The lower weight also limits your effective range and accuracy.
On an AEG, a jammed BB in the barrel can cause the other BBs to jam up the barrel, tot he point that you can end up with a broken tappet plate. A broken jagged BB can scratch the bore of your barrel or damage your hop up.
Jagged BBs can cause injuries to other players.
These are just a few ideas, but that's basically why.

Not only are they low quality most of the time, dont they also leave an air-pocket in the center to reduce some weight? If that is true then .12 bb's are structurally not as strong as a .2 that is solid all the way through and could lead to breakage from a stronger gun.
Whether I am wrong or right, the bottom line is NEVER USE .12g BB's!!!

The most common castestrophic failure of airsoft guns from poor quality BB's is due to the air being trapped between the jammed BB and the piston trying to push the air forward. This resulted in back-pressure against the piston face. The piston moves forward much more slowly than normal, and the sector gear than spin back around and rip into the piston teeth, destroying the piston, and possibly also causing gear teeth to break as a result of the sudden stop of the gearbox.
The bottom line is actually to never use low quality BB's in an AEG. There are actually high grade .12 gram BB's that are out there that won't jam in an AEG, so quality of manufacturing is the main point. Be sure you always buy high grade BB's. Stay away from anything you'd find outside of a dedicated airsoft store! Believe me, there are crappy .20's and .25's out there which will damage your gun just as much as a cheap .12g.
