As far as I know, the 35 acre permanent village used for the Renaissance Festival just sits there the rest of the year. I wonder if they'd be open to the idea of renting it out for a day. Has anyone looked into that before?

Most of those booths are rented and owned by individual owners. They have done extensive modifications, and upkeep. Somehow I think us running around shooting at things might not go over so well. But then again, Mansfield Penn ended up being open to it, so go ahead and give it a try. There really isn't a whole lot of cover though in the off season, as most of the shops are buttoned up tight.

"Larping" is Live Action Role Playing. Its like Dungeons and Dragons but people act it out.

It seems like he tried to get use of it as a location for a LARP event.

If the Ren Faire people won't let the LARPers use the fair grounds then they probably won't let airsofters use them either.

That's where we do all of our racing, on the little course infront of it. That would be pretty neato, we could dress up as knights with guns!

i worked there for 10 years from 95-05 and in that time many people had tried to use the ground for some other event and the answer is no. The owner is Peter Carol, and he so strict about the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds that he doesn't let people drive on the grass.

Plus like Caine was saying, the booths there are owned and built by the companies that you see there. And i know for a fact they don't like people around their booths. Quick Story: There was 2 years they held a "British Isles Festival" to celebrate all things british. They even had Flogging Molly there. And Peter told the booth owners (last second) that he was bringing in these other vendors and those vendors were going to be operating out of their booths. He cut the locks on the booths and gave the other vendors access. After the second year, Peter lost a lawsuit and he dropped the British Isles Fest altogether.

So I can tell you from experience, your answer is NO.

No, I meant, Larper's being denies use of a renaissance festival grounds. The two go hand in hand, That's what makes no sense to me..

The point I was getting at was that the Ren people must be awfully touchy.

Renn Faire folk are often touchy (and feely... but those are other stories for other days) For a lot of them however, this is their livelyhood. Any damage done to a shop comes out of their pocketbooks to repair, making it less likely that they would want to come back if their booths are not kept up to shape. Juts the way it goes.

Again, if you've been there afterhours or way to early, you'd know when its not lively around there, that it really not be too good of a site anyways. Give me somewhere with more cover and less open killing fields.
